We had a fantastic stay at Pete's Place in Manuel Antonio! His 1 bedroom house is perfect for a couple's getaway! The house is stocked with kitchen supplies, DVDs, CDs, etc. There are great fans in the living/kitchen area and a strong AC in the bedroom. The shower had hot water, which was truly a luxury on our trip. The pool was pristine and just steps away from the house. We saw amazing animals right from the pool, including titi monkeys, toucans, and even a sloth! Pete made us feel very welcome and his concierge Itza helped us book tours during our stay. The house is just a few minutes away by bus from the public beaches and the Manuel Antonio National Park and entrance and walking distance to restaurants, cafes, and a super market. We would definitely stay at Pete's Place on a future trip to Manuel Antonio and we wholeheartedly recommend his beautiful house to others!
Pete's Place is a piece of paradise within paradise - Manuel Antonio. Our favorite part of this section of our trip was the privacy of the place. There is a pathway to the awesome pool that gives you your own touch of the jungle. So beautiful - sloth and butterflies, flowers, etc. We heard a lot of monkeys, but with our short stay did not get to see any. You get down to that pool area and never want to leave.
The pool itself is fantastic too - we do not know how they were able to keep it so clean in the middle of all the trees! Plenty long enough for lap swimming too.
The cottage looks just like photos. Clean, air conditioning and 4 fans work great. There is a front porch where we sat one evening and watched a thunderstorm. Kitchen has everything you need - even a blender. Also, supermarket within walking distance.
Peter made us feel very welcome. He gives you your privacy yet answered his phone immediately every time we called him. We had some trouble with entry gate the first day (very secure location) - he came home within 5 minutes to help us!
We would recommend this place to anybody.
Pete welcomed us in person and had placed juice boxes and a milk in the fridge, knowing that we had kids with us. He was very friendly. We broke the mirror hanging on the back of the bedroom door (we didn't know how it happened and felt awful) and Pete came over and cleaned it up for us. He was very kind through all that.
The pool is perfect for kids also. It has a ledge around the entire edge of the shallow half, the pefect height for our two-year-old to walk and splash with us in the pool beside him. We enjoyed making laps and diving into the deep end. We saw a beautiful green, red, and blue bird and tons of banana spiders. They are beautiful!
We looked a lot in the apartment and had everything we needed for pancakes and pasta supper.
The road in both directions has wider shoulders on which we could walk to the supermarket and restaurants. The public bus stop is a 3 minute walk.
Cons: We had mentioned using the pull out couch, but it was not already set up with sheets when we arrived. We had to put them on ourselves.
The cleaning crew came through the first day but not the second. I didn't know what to expect, as that isn't an explicit part of this rental, but after the first day we were expecting it and were disappointed when we did not come back to a cleaner place.
A mixing bowl would make the kitchen complete! :)
Thanks Gwen sorry about the sheets not being on the pull out couch ( an oversite by my cleaning lady but fortunately the extra sheets etc were there for you to use.
As for the cleaning lady ( Alicia) she comes Monday Wednesday and Friday so that is the reason you did not see the house cleaned on Day.
Had I known you would be arriving with two kids ( thought there was only one a baby) I would have asked Alicia to come in Sat as well
Please don't concern yourself about the mirror, I should have removed it before again was not aware a toddler would be roaming around
Accidentes happen such is life!!
Thanks for the tip about the mixing bowl that has been taken care of.
Safe travels do come back again
We absolutely loved our stay at Peter's. The house was so comfortable with all the small touches thought about. Peter welcomed us and had thoughtfully put the air con on and beers in the fridge, which was much appreciated after a 7 hour drive. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. It was close to everything with plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. The cleaning lady even took care of our washing for us. The pool area was heavenly, beautifully clean and cool. We loved it there and left very reluctantly. Thanks Peter!
Peter was an awesome host. He checked with us daily to offer his services if needed.
We were well taken care of.
The description of the place was accurate and that pleased us a lot.
It was great to be walking distance to public transportation, local supermarket, restaurant, and shops.
We had family come in to surprise me so we had to move to a bigger house.
The experience can not compare to Peter's place.
The ambiance is perfect.
Thank you Peter.
Peter was a very welcoming and excellent host during our stay in Manuel Antonio. He went out of his way to help us on many levels (helped us to book our shuttle back to San Jose) and gave us numerous great tips. He lived on site so he was very easy to communicate with and always answered the phone. The place was perfect for Manuel Antonio. It is outside of the busy small town of Quepos, up in the hills with some beautiful views and literally tucked away into it's own little jungle nook. The pool was gorgeous and the grounds in general were stunning. The cottage was VERY clean, spacious and had absolutely everything you need for a great stay. There were also two very friendly dogs who hung out around the cottage that I loved. Would definitely recommend this place to a family, group of friends, or a couple. The location is perfect- right on the bus line with a 7 min ride to the National park. Overall we couldn't have asked for more!
Staying at Pete's Place was a wonderful experience for me and my wife. The location is superb for getting to the beach, park, and nearby amazing restaurants. Pete is extremely professional and his place is absolutely lovely.
