Modern Zen Basement on Queen Anne

House - Private room · 9th Ave, Seattle, WA 98119, United States

The Space

This is a fully finished basement in my house on Queen Anne. While technically a basement, it really feels like the lower floor of a split level as the ceilings are 8' feet high. There are a total of three rooms. The space features bamboo floors, custom shoji styled screen doors, a full bathroom, a nice reading nook, a media room with an oversized sectional couch as well as a brand new 60" LCD HDTV (and Roku and Apple TV so lots of movies to watch). Last but not least, there's a ping pong table in the garage (and if I'm home, I'm usually up for a game!).

While my entire house is available on a very limited basis (usually a day or two at a time or when I'm on vacation), the basement is usually available. NOTE: There is now a door between the upstairs and downstairs. The basement has its own mini fridge to store food and drinks as well as a coffee machine and electric kettle. The entire basement is around 1,000 square feet so there's plenty of space to relax.

  • My friend and I decided to try AirBnb for the first time and Rob is a fantastic host! Rob made our stay very comfortable and even picked us up at a bus stop nearby! The basement is exactly what is pictured here and it was even spectacular to see it in person. We hope you liked the chocolate and cookie we left for you! :)

  • Our stay at Rob's was awesome. He had great suggestions for us, was super friendly, and made us feel right at home. The basement was perfect. It was quiet, spacious, and warm. We especially liked the artwork and books that filled all of the rooms. It's a quick (but hilly) walk to public transportation and was minutes away from all the different areas of Seattle. Rob's place is in a great location with a beautiful view from upstairs. We would absolutely stay here again.

  • My wife and I loved staying at Rob's modern zen basement. The pictures are accurate, the place was very clean, and located in a great neighborhood. Rob was quick to respond to questions and had the place ready for us for check-in. We had the opportunity to meet Rob and appreciated his advice on tips to navigate the city and nearby restaurants. The house is located in an ideal spot; short driving distance to downtown/Ballard/Fremont, and accessible to public transportation (we used both our car and public transit to get around). We highly recommend Rob's place for your next visit to Seattle.

  • We had a great time in Seattle and staying at Rob's place was a huge part of that. The space has a bedroom, sitting room with fireplace, and an awesome "man cave" with a sectional couch and giant TV! We looked forward to coming back to that at the end of every day and being able to relax as if we were in our own home. (And when we did get back home, our own TV seemed much smaller than it used to....)
Rob was friendly, on top of communication, and knew a lot about Seattle to point us in the right direction. Additionally, his house is really well located if you want to see a lot of different neighborhoods in the city -- we could get just about anywhere in 10-15 minutes (by car) and since it was north of downtown the traffic wasn't bad at all.

  • At first I was somewhat hesitant about doing a downstairs/basement room, but after seeing the pictures I figured it was worth a shot. I was glad I did!

Rob left very detailed instructions about getting in and making ourselves comfortable. In the downstairs "room" there was really 4 rooms, a bedroom, bathroom, lounge area and TV room. Even had a washer and dryer!

Rob is really personable and flexible, good with communication, and a pleasure to work with. His home is cozy and we felt instantly at home there. It's really nicely decorated and laid out in a way that really makes sense. There is room to hang your clothes up (and,on our visit, a bathrobe and a fur coat in the closet), many delectable books to read.a mini frig and electric kettle downstairs...we really didn't feel like we were lacking anything for our stay.

I'm definitely looking forward to staying here again on the next visit. Did I mention how great the wrap around deck was for getting sun or a view of north Seattle? 5 stars no doubt!

  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Robs place in Queen Anne. The modern zen basement was reasonably priced, clean, quiet and spacious. Rob was such a friendly host and he gave great recommendations for the area.

  • Our stay at Rob's house was fantastic! The basement was a perfect place to base our vacation out of - within close driving distance to downtown and Capitol Hill. We just met Rob briefly as we were gone most of the time but he was a gracious host and willing to answer any questions.

  • This was our first experience with AirBnB and it couldn't have been better. We've stayed in Rob's basement for two days during a road trip down Pacific Highway. Since Rob was away for the week, we didn't actually get to meet him. But he made sure that everything went smoothly and even checked in with us after the first night to see how we were doing. The basement itself is exactly as pictured: very modern, clean, lots of space, nice lighting, very well equipped. The apartment is located in a quiet, safe and friendly neighborhood. When the battery of our rental car died, Rob's neighbor was quick to help and got us back on the road. All in all, highly recommended!!!

  • Two of my friends and I totally enjoyed staying at Rob's beautiful modern zen basement apt. It was very well appointed and the photographs online accurately reflect the living conditions. Rob was always accessible to answer any questions or concerns and was extremely helpful in making suggestion on points of interests in and around Seattle. I would definitely recommend Rob's place when traveling to the Seattle!

  • Rob's Zen Basement is clean, comfortable and very modern. We were so busy sight seeing and driving all over Seattle so we really didn't spend much time there. Whenever we were there we felt very comfortable. The TV was huge. Watching TV after a long day out was very, very nice. The shower was hot. The water pressure was high. We felt like home. As a matter of fact there we were the only ones in the place most of the time. We did get a chance to meet Rob for a short period of time but not long at all. We highly recommend Rob's place. A great value on AirBnB. Thanks Rob.
