We were 5 friends staying in the house. It was incredibly clean and tidy. We all enjoy our night there. All the ingredients to cook a massive English breakfast were provided. Two of us stayed in two beds bedroom and then another two in the sofa-bed in the leaving room with an extra air mattress for the fifth friend. I strongly recommend Lesley Munro's house, she was really nice and welcoming.
We were looking for an out-of-the-way place to stay just for one night, and we really enjoyed our stay at Hadrians Barn. Our host Lesley was very welcoming and had stocked up the fridge for our breakfast. This small barn has been renovated and decorated in a relaxed and cozy fashion, and it is tucked away in a country setting. Very quiet and peaceful.
Really enjoyed out stay. The host, Lesley, was really friendly and welcoming, and it's in a nice spot - really close to Newcastle but also in the middle of the countryside near the Hadrian's Wall path. The apartment was clean and pleasant. The kitchen's not massively well equipped (there's no oven for example) - but saying that, as a group of five foodies we still managed to please ourselves!
Overall the accommodations were alright, with room for improvement. The hosts however were fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and more besides! It was nice, clean and warm, with loads of privacy and a friendly dog.
There was a problem with the water in the kitchen sink. The hot water turned cold after only washing two plates. Luckily the hosts were able to sort out the boiler but in the mean time I'm sure they would have moved us to another accommodation had it not been sorted. The photos shown were of another cottage, not the one we actually stayed in. I wrongly assumed that it had two bedrooms which meant sleeping on a sofa bed. Being a person with back problems, sofa beds are not ideal. I guess I should have read between the lines more carefully. The internet was not good, working in one corner but not the remainder of the house. This made completing a homework assignment for our daughter very tricky. The kitchen was not a full kitchen, no oven or microwave which made it difficult for cooking.
A perfect experience in every way. Prior to the stay I got plenty of reassurance about accommodating my elderly mother, and while we were there we felt so welcome and well looked after. We were left enough food for what seemed like a banquet - and it suited us perfectly to decide when and what to do for breakfasts and rustle up snacks as and when throughout our stay. We requested to have the main room soafabed made up so we could be in separate rooms. This was all set up ready for us - and worked perfectly. A very positive and enjoyable experience thank you.
