About this listing
Our guest room is off the mudroom away from the rest of the house and looks out into the back garden. Guests have full bath and living room on the first floor to themselves. Breakfast features homemade raspberry jam and bread, local eggs, and more!
Our queen guest room is on the main floor away from the rest of the house. It looks out on our backyard and up into the woods. There is a door to the backyard in the room, but the main entrance is through our mudroom. We use another entrance when guests are staying with us.
You'd have sole use of our downstairs full bathroom and living room, plus cable TV, wi-fi and unlimited long distance calling. We've got a screened-in porch, a pond that is great for swimming, plus 400+ acres of surrounding woods and trails. And the raspberries are just coming in!
It is just my husband and me and our friendly Bichon and a cat that you'll never see. We provide a big continental breakfast of coffee/tea, juice, eggs, granola, yogurt, home-made bread, home-made raspberry jam and fruit. Healthy dinner available for one night for extra fee. ($15 pp)
Guests have the downstairs living room all to themselves. And a private full bath. Free range of the whole downstairs and yard and pond.
Interaction with Guests
We will be around in the kitchen and porch and will chat as much as you can stand! But, we do retreat to the upstairs by about 7 - to read or to watch TV up there. If you arrive after 8:30 pm, I'll leave a welcome note on the front door.
Newbury is right on the Vermont, New Hampshire border, so the village has views of the Connecticut River and the White Mountains. Our house is at the end of a short dirt road within the village limits. We are secluded and surrounded by woods, but just a minute drive down into the village.
Other Things to Note
600 ct. Egyptian Cotton Sheets! New bedpost reading lamps! Price includes 9% Vermont Rooms and Meals Tax. I'll consider well behaved dogs for an extra $15/night.
No smoking inside. Please ask ahead if you want to use the kitchen for cooking. I'll be emailing you before the arrival day to find out what time you are coming. Please call or text on the arrival day if the time changes. Thanks.
Louise and Marv were wonderful hosts. Their home is beautiful and very quiet on the end of a dirt road close to the picturesque village of Newbury VT. The breakfast offered in the morning was perfect with homemade bread and jam with fresh fruit and coffee. We would highly recommend this Airbnb.
Staying at Louise and Marv's place was absolutely wonderful. They were both extremely warm and welcoming, and made sure my fiance and I were comfortable for our short stay. Their house and property are so beautiful, and the guest bedroom/bathroom were both extremely clean and very comfortable. Louise even set up a continental breakfast the night before to make sure we had a meal for our very early wake up call. They also have an adorable little dog who was very friendly and playful. Although our stay was short, my fiance and I both want to come back to Louise's place to enjoy beautiful Vermont and for a little R&R.
Staying in Louise's an Marv's little oasis in Newbury is like coming home. Their easygoing hospitality immediately makes you feel welcome and at ease. We had a delicious dinner in their company, their guestroom is very comfortable and their garden is a feast for the eye. Don't forget to try Louise's raspberry jam at breakfast!

Louise and her dog Raney made me feel very welcome. Love the gardens and rural area. The room/ bathroom and living area were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was left out for me the night before with hot coffee ready when I got up.
Told Louise that I would not need breakfast the next day because I had other plans. Since this is the first AirBnB I did not know what to expect but was happy that Louise accommodated me and was a great host. If I return to the area again I would like to stay there again.
The place is an amazing place to stay in a nice village. It's very clean, quiet, and private. The pets are friendly and so are Louise and Marv. The breakfast is great and the fresh berries from the garden are awesome. Highly recommended
What fun my daughter and I had at Louise's house! We cuddled with her dog Raney, swam in her pond, lingered over her magnificent breakfast of fresh berries and home-made granola, adored her garden, and slept like a stone! We couldn't ask for more.
About the Host, Louise
My husband and I are both 61. He works at the local bank and I work part-time for a local classified paper, and sew slip-covers. We've lived in Vermont for almost 40 years and love it here. I like to take walks with my dog Raney, swim, garden, read, sew and do house projects. My husband is a fan of fishing, kayaking, tennis, golf, gardening and community work. We now have our own little condo in Portland, Oregon where our only son lives with his wife and their new baby. It is available for stays of 30 days or more.
