About This Listing
Our guest room is off the mudroom away from the rest of the house and looks out into the back garden. Guests have full bath and living room on the first floor to themselves. Just click picture for a ton more pictures! (no need to click on arrows)
We've got a great little guest room with queen bed off our mudroom away from the rest of the house. It looks out on our backyard vegetable and flower gardens and up into the woods. The only sounds you'll hear at night are tree frogs and crickets.
You'd have sole use of our downstairs full bathroom and living room, plus cable TV, wi-fi and unlimited long distance calling. We've got a screened-in porch, pond for swimming, plus 400+ acres of surrounding woods and trails. We're at the end of a short dirt road, 2/3 mile from the center of the picturesque village of Newbury. (with upscale Village Store that even has a little restaurant out back) We have maps for local sights and hikes.
It is just my husband and me and our little Bichon and 2 old cats that are not allowed in guest room. We provide a light breakfast of coffee/tea, juice, cereal, yogurt, toast, home-made raspberry jam and fruit. Healthy dinner available for one night for extra fee. ($15 pp)
Guests have the downstairs living room all to themselves. And a private full bath. Free range of the whole downstairs and yard and pond.
Interaction with Guests
We retreat to the upstairs early - either to bed or to read or to watch TV up there. If you arrive after 9 pm, I leave a welcome note on the front door.
We are right on the Vermont, New Hampshire border, so the village has views of the Connecticut River and the White Mountains.
Other Things to Note
600 ct. Egyptian Cotton Sheets! New bedpost reading lamps! Price includes 9% Vermont Rooms and Meals Tax. I'll consider small dogs that don't shed or chase cats for an extra $20/night.
No smoking inside. Please ask ahead if you want to use the kitchen for cooking. I'll be emailing you before the arrival day to find out what time you are coming. Please call on the arrival day if the time changes. Thanks.
Louise couldn't have been more welcoming. She and her husband gave us full use of her living room and kitchen, including food in fridge. The location is wonderful, and the room - with private bathroom - comfortable.
We've spend a nice evening with Louise and Marv. She had cooked for us an excellent dinner. Thank you very much for your hospitality!
Louise and Marve were great hosts. They made us feel very comfortable. It was very clean and quiet. We had privacy when we needed it and was welcome to use the house whenever we wanted. They lived in a beautiful setting amongst the trees and I took a great little hike right outside their door.
They offered to make us dinner for a small fee which we took them up on and was delicious. We were glad we did because there were no restaurants close by. We were on bicycles.
They also helped us with our route for the next day.
I would highly recommend this warm friendly house to stay.
OMG!! This wins as our favorite Airbnb!! Louise and Marv are soooo hospitable and friendly and they make you feel like they are so happy that you are there! We loved everything about this stay! The room, the views, the company! I feel like we made friends. For $15. ea. (a steal), they will prepare a full dinner for you, including homemade dessert!!
Louise sets out a wonderful do-it-yourself breakfast station, with the coffee ready to go with a push of the button. Marv treated us to a homemade breakfast (French toast) our 2nd day. Loved it! Love them!!!
Don't miss out on this jewel! Everything about our stay was perfect!!!
About the Host, Louise
My husband and I are both 61. He works at the local bank and I work part-time for a local classified paper, and sew slip-covers. We've lived in Vermont for almost 40 years and love it here. I like to take walks with my dog Raney, swim, garden, read, sew and do house projects. My husband is a fan of fishing, kayaking, tennis, golf, gardening and community work. We also like to spend time in Portland, Oregon where our only son lives with his wife.

We love this little restaurant in the middle of nowhere just 15 minutes from our house. It specializes in local food. Kind of pricey, but really good. Need reservations.New Hampshire 10 Orford NH 03777
