About this listing
Come stay at our comfy house on the edge of the picturesque village of Newbury, Vermont. We're surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods and extensive flower gardens. You'll have the first floor pretty much to yourselves. We put out a breakfast of home-made jam and bread, yogurt, granola and fruit.
Our queen guest room is off the mudroom away from the rest of the house. It looks out into the woods and back garden. It's very quiet and secluded. We built the house 30 years ago and the house and gardens have been our hobby ever since. We love sharing it all with others.
Guests have the downstairs living room all to themselves. And a private full bath.
Interaction with guests
We will be around in the kitchen and porch and will chat as much as you can stand. But, we do retreat to our upstairs lounge by about 7 - to read or to watch TV.
Other things to note
600 ct. Egyptian Cotton Sheets - dried in pure Vermont fresh air! Good bedpost reading lamps! We don't accept dogs anymore, sorry.
Please ask ahead if you want to do any cooking. Smoking not allowed anywhere. Let me know when you're arriving. If it's past 9, we'll leave a note and a light on for you. The house is not locked and the room is just inside the front door. Sorry, we don't allow pets anymore :(

My husband and I are both 61. He works at the local bank and I work part-time for a local classified paper, and sew slip-covers. We've lived in Vermont for almost 40 years and love it here. I like to take walks with my dog Raney, swim, garden, read, sew and do house projects. My husband is a fan of fishing, kayaking, tennis, golf, gardening and community work. We now have our own little condo in Portland, Oregon where our only son lives with his wife and their new baby. It is available for stays of 30 days or more.
