  • Layne was courteous, helpful, and friendly. His apartment was comfortable and spacious. Layne has great taste: the decor in the apartment can't be beat.

Layne was a great host. He made it clear that we should truly make ourselves at home. He let us cook in his kitchen and even allowed us to use what was in the fridge.

The apartment is located right next to mass transit. It's easy to catch a train or a bus to get into town. The neighborhood is beautiful and relatively quiet. The trains in the distance were actually pretty pleasant.

Layne has a Roku box for his TV set, so it is possible to watch Netflix on his TV! That was a great perk.
I highly recommend this apartment. It is superior to a hotel room in every single way. And it's cheaper! You can't go wrong.

  • I reserved Layne's apartment for my parents' stay during my graduation ceremonies and it was a really nice experience for our family. The apartment is commodious, cozy and clean. The apartment is surprisingly a lot bigger than it appears from the pictures that Layne shows on Airbnb. The neighborhood is also a good one with walking distance to the lake, Red line and a number of restaurants/stores.

  • Layne has a great place on the north side of Chicago. The location is close to one of Chicago's best coffee shops and some excellent eateries. The apartment is very well decorated and makes you feel very much at home. Layne himself was very accommodating and a gracious host.

  • Our first experience with Airbnb was terrific, and that was thanks to Layne, his apartment and the Airbnb website. Our experience was good in walking through the website process in first getting connected with Layne. He was a great host with his communication in advance, his apartment and attention to detail. The apartment is bright and spacious as advertised, and there were no surprises. Loved the neighborhood and, although near the train, we had no problem in getting to sleep or having a good night's sleep. Would definitely recommend, and try to stay there again in the future when needed.

  • Layne should be a hotelier! He was perfect from keys to making she throughout my stay everything was fine.. The place was exact as he told in the description. I will now always use his place when in this part of the city!

  • just back from a wonderful long weekend in Chicago and Layne's spacious apartment was a key component in making everything work. Fully equipped, very livable space, and superb convenience to the L and neighborhood necessities gave us a chance to really take advantage of our visit. This is a great option for anyone visiting the Northside - Evanston area in Chicago but with the L a 5 minute walk it is very convenient to downtown as well.

  • Great location near the train, Loyola and several great breakfast places. There is train noise so it's not a good location for the light sleeper.

  • Layne's place was perfect - convenient to the CTA, meticulously clean, comfortable and quiet. "Train noise" is REALLY a non-issue. Layne's warm and friendly, and very easy to communicate with. He went out of his way to accommodate our schedule and made us feel at home. Nothing but raves for Layne and his apartment! And DON'T MISS the Metropolis Cafe. <3

  • Layne was a great host - very communicative from the start, and he always responded quickly to my emails and questions. The location was even better than I had anticipated. It was so conveniently located in terms of proximity to the metro/L, and the neighborhood was so cute, replete with restaurants and stores. Layne made us feel welcome by allowing us to use anything we needed in his apartment, and I especially enjoyed the Welcome Folder with visitor information. Would definitely stay there again :)

  • We saw reviews commenting on train noise and almost didn't book. That would have been a huge mistake. Having lived in the city (and expecting a reasonable level of background noise goes with that,) the trains didn't bother us a bit. The apartment was clean, spacious, and extremely comfortable. We felt at home. The neighborhood was great too; lots of fun restaurants to try, cafes, wine shops, etc. Plus, Lane was extremely kind, and accommodated several last minute reservation extensions. We'd stay again in a second. We could not have asked for a better stay anywhere.

I moved here in 2006 from Nebraska to (email hidden) in Chicago. I have been in many productions in Chicago as well as a professional commercial and film actor. Also, I manage a bakery in Lincoln Park called Sweet Mandy B's and I've been working with them for the last 3 years. I'm a big fan of the lake so it's important that I am by the water so being 2 blocks away is a big advantage to where I chose to live.
