This Solar Powered Eco-cabaña is located 10 minutes past the entrance to Parque Tayrona and 500 metres from the Costeño Beach Surf Camp.
This rental is for the first floor of a gorgeous solar powered beach cabaña. With space to accomodate 4 people(1 double bed, 2 single beds). There is a open kitchen(with gas stove) as well as a bathroom. There is no fridge, but a large coolbox is provided and ice will be added daily to keep food and drinks cool.
The cabaña sits 50metres(160ft) from the sea, and if you go to the beach, you will not see another person. There is a various kiosko huts on the beach for you to enjoy the sea and relax in a hammock. There is also a large shaded BBQ area hut.
This beach is just outside the Parque Tayrona zone. So there are no park entrance fees and there is car/moto access right up to the cabaña.
There is a large barbecue, which runs on driftwood which we collect on the beach. If you want to try surfing, you can get surf lessons at the surf camp. You can also visit either river Guachaca or Mendihuaca, both of which are exactly a 2km walk(1 mile) from the cabaña.
Our caretaker will be around during the days if you need anything from fresh coconuts to trips to town.

By car, it is around 1 hour from Santa Marta. We can also help to arrange transport to and from the beach, so get in touch with us to help you plan your trip.

The property is large, and the beach free of other people apart from the occasional fishermen. There are 3 kioskos that can be used. You will have a key to lock the cabaña when you are not around, and a safe is provided if you need to store valuables.
Interaction with Guests
Our caretaker will be there to greet you, help you during your stay and see you off. I most likely will not be there during your stay.
The cabaña is quite remote, which is the main attraction.
There are 2 rivers, exactly 2km in both directions from the cabaña if you follow the beach where freshwater flows out to the sea, walking will take about 30 minutes.
There is a town nearby(Guachaca), our caretaker has a motorbike so he can make trips there for you for $2USD to buy food/drinks/supplies.
There are buses on the highway that frequently run in both directions(every 15 minutes during the day).
Transport in the area is the 'moto-taxi', our caretaker can make trips to town for $2USD each way, and additional moto-taxis can be called if needed.
This cabin is remote, so you will need to bring mostly everything with you(unless you have a car). Our caretaker can make trips to the town for you for a 2USD, or he can take you into town to do your own shopping. For multiple people additional moto-taxis can be called if needed.
ELECTRICITY - This cabin is SOLAR POWERED, so lights, phone chargers, laptops are fine. Hair straighteners, hair dryers and larger electrical items are NOT OK.
TOWELS & LINEN - Bedsheets and towels are provided.
PHONE COVERAGE - Claro has the best reception in this area, 3G/internet is available with Claro. Tigo has no coverage and Movistar is unreliable.
A unique, amazing place to chill out for a few days. The beach is stunning, and we spent a few days here eating BBQ made with driftwood, relaxing with a few beers and enjoying the slow pace of life. It's remote, but then there's Walter to take you to Tayrona by bike or get you whatever you need from town. Beware of the Stig next door though, he will offer you aguardiente and tell you a few too many stories. Cannot recommend enough. Johan was always on hand to communicate and give you information whenever you need it
Our stay at the cabana was wonderful. The property is stunning and secluded. We saw only a few people on the beach during our stay (from the surf camp). Walter, the groundskeeper, was very friendly and helpful - he got us anything we needed/wanted from town, even though we had a rental car.
Johan was very kind and helpful; he stopped by the property once to check on things and give some local tips. Our car got stuck in the sand the night we arrived, but everyone helped us get it out the next day.
Be sure to go to River Buritaca and Parque Tayrona - but skip the beaches there and do a good, long hike instead. The beaches are beautiful, but none really compare to the one in your front yard when you stay here.
One thing - we were somewhat surprised that there wasn't a refrigerator. When we saw Johan, he mentioned that they used to have one but they rust too quickly from the sea salt. Please be aware that there is only a cooler to store your food.
The cabana that Johan provided was amazing. It is on a very remote part of the coast, adjacent to the Tayrona national park. Amenities are minimal in the house, but there is a great patio and a communal area with a huge fire grill and table. We collected drift wood every night and grilled shrimp, chicken, steaks, and veggies. It is an extraordinary and relaxing experience. The property is covered in coconut trees and has two great cabanas on the beach that provide shade. The water is warm and the ocean is great for swimming in the area. There is a surf camp 500 meters up the beach, but I didn't see anything that looked surfable. Johan was helpful in getting us setup and Walter, the grounds keeper lives on the same property and can help with anything else. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone, especially larger groups or families.
La casa de private beach era una auténtica maravilla, un placer disfrutar de una playa privada en las faldas del Tayrona. Alejados de todo y rodeados por una maravillosa naturaleza. La atención de Walter el encargado también fue de primera. Sin duda repetiré.
Colombian Caribbean is full of beautiful places. And you cannot stop smiling when you are the only one in such a place. Johan's cabaña was a blessing for us in the end of semana santa as we were finally far away from crowds of tourists. Although sometimes there were some people passing by from Costeño Surf Camp and the family of the caretake who lives next door, indeed we were having the beach just for ourselves. The cabaña is simple, but it doesn't matter as we spent all the time outside. Johan is a great host, very organised and reliable. We fully enjoyed three days of doing nothing, having breakfast at the beach, finding coconuts among palms, reading at the beach, relaxing in a hammock, bbqing meat and vegetables in the evening and just enjoying the sea with its smell and noise and amazing sunsets. The only thing we didn't like was three doggies with three puppies hanging around and begging for food all the time.
