The Space

We hope that your vacation to our beautiful country is a great one and that we might be a part of your Pura Vida experience.

Marta & Douglas

We have 5 ocean view apartments and La Vista is our only one with 2 (website hidden) Spanish "La Vista" means the view and that is what this apartment and property have. Whether you are sitting on your front deck having your morning coffee, or relaxing in the pool, you will always have great views. Relax at the end of the day and enjoy a fresh tropical drink at the rancho, as you celebrate the end of another fantastic day in paradise and watch a gorgeous red sun melt into the Pacific Ocean. You will never cease to be amazed at the wonderful views from anywhere on our property.

"La Vista" is ready for you and your family, or friends to enjoy. With 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, living room, kitchen and a front porch that overlooks the pool and beautiful Pacific Ocean. This is a great place to stay while you build fond memories of your Costa Rica vacation.

We are located in a very private and secure location and yet we are less than a 10 minute walk to central Quepos, where you will find everything you need during your stay with us, such as markets, restaurants, gift shops, live music and more. You can take a 5 minute walk to our farmers market located in front of the marina, where you can buy fresh fruits, produce and bakery goods every Friday and Saturday.

If you would like, we can provide private transportation to and from San Jose and help arrange all of your tours to help make your Costa Rica Vacation unforgettable.

My husband and I live on the property and are always available to help in any way we can.

"La Vista" offers you the following amenities
Air conditioning
Swimming pool
Hot water
Cable TV
High speed wireless internet
Queen size bed
Free calls to Canada and the USA
Ceiling fans

Laundry service and meals are available at a additional cost.

  • Pura Vida! Marta and Douglas were great hosts to me, my boyfriend, my best friend and her husband and her mom. Our goal was to explore Manuel Antonio and Marta & Douglas' home was in a great location, not to far from the National Park. The view overlooking the marina in Quepos is gorgeous. We were within walking distance to an authentic spot called Club Banana. Yum! We also loved the disco ball above the pool. Nothing like some fun, random ambience. Marta and Douglas accommodated us so well and gave us great recommendations on places to go. Their perros, Beethoven and Zues, were friendly and adorable. Mucho gracias por todo!!! We'll be back :)

  • My family and I spent two nights at Casa Pargo with Marta and Douglas. Marta had sent us directions ahead of time, which were helpful considering that the apartment is up on a hill off the main road. But being on a hill had its advantages, as the apartment has a gorgeous view of the marina. Marta and Douglas were helpful and friendly with regard to all of our needs, and knowledgeable about local events. The small bar on the property is a nice touch - we were able to enjoy our evenings cooking at home with a drink or two instead of having to drive into the crowded downtown area. I can recommend Casa Pargo to anyone looking for a relaxed visit to Manuel Antonio and the surrounding area.

  • We were four adults and a three year old and we had a great time at Doug and Marta's 'La Vista'.
They were very warm and welcoming and were quick to respond to our questions. The two bedroom apartment was clean, had air conditioning in the bedrooms, and had wonderful views from the balcony. The wifi worked great. Our first day there we saw monkeys crossing the roof into the trees. We thought the pool was a perfect size and amazingly refreshing after a day of being out and about. Thanks Doug and Marta for a lovely place to stay. :-)

  • La Vista is one 2-bed appartement in a complex of 4-5 appartements including a pool-area & bar! There is a house keeping during the day (e.g for towels or a beer at the pool :)). La Vista is clean, AC works very quick, kitchen equipped for 4 people if you do not mind different plates, mugs etc. La Vista is a little hard to find and parking a real challange. The map you get is detailed enough to find the place. When you think: it cannot be here, you are right! We could totally recommend the place!

  • Stayed for 5 days. Excellent location for getting around the area; short walk to town and the Marina - (ask for directions to short cut down the steps). Steep hill makes for great views but if you plan to drive a lot get a small 4wd rental. We had a Nissan car. It was OK. We parked it at Casa Pargo and walked everywhere or took a cab to Manuel Antonio; wouldn't want to drive a 2wd any more than necessary getting up and down the hill.

Casa Pargo has comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and icy AC and same-day fair-price laundry service - it's hot there you will need to get stuff washed a lot. Traveling with my college student son. Casitas are not unduly fancy but secure and functional. Marta is ready to help arrange outings etc. Really nice people who take pride in their operation.

(Unrelated to Casa Pargo: Car rentals seem to be scam at some agencies at SJO - we had a terrible time with AVIS - they are miles from the actual airport and have us captive in a sketchy part of town. They seemed to me to be contemptuous of us (American and Canadian tourists) and I found them uncomfortably aggressive peddling extra fee items - in fact they flat out wouldn't let us leave without buying extra insurance and forced me to sign blank charge slips implying that my other choice was to find my way back to the airport to rent from someone else. This was how I was treated and I'm a big renter from AVIS in the US and UK. I think this may be a rogue AVIS operation at SJO, usually I don't feel insecure at an AVIS depot. But almost everyone we spoke to had a bad experience renting a car in Costa Rica - the worst stories we heard all had to do with AVIS, only Budget got a compliment -from a couple who had bought every imaginable add on insurance and then got a flat tire.)

  • We had the most lovely holiday at La Vista, we miss it already! We stayed a week it was just the perfect place for our small family. Our 11 year old son loved the pool and the monkeys, we loved the view and the feeling of being at home, safe and sound. Marta was so helpful and friendly and booked all our tours and transportation -- and everything worked out perfectly. It's a private place up a steep hill (which we actually enjoyed for the cardio) but close to Quepos with a great market. The area by the pool is so nice to chill at the end of the day and get to know our fellow travelers and hosts. Thank you Marta for sharing your lovely place and beautiful, beautiful country. Pura Vida!

  • We had an amazing time in Costa Rica. Douglas & Marta had a lot to do with that. They really made us feel safe and like we where at home. We consider the Contreras Family as part of out extended family and when we return to Costa Rica we would most defiantly stay there again. It was sad to come home with out the monkeys that greet you every morning and say good night as sun goes down every day ( Way better than the national forest). The View is breath taking. Every morning I would get up and have coffee over looking the marina. I have pictures of my wife with monkeys in her lap, and eating banana out of her hands simply AMAZING TIME, AND PLACE!! Pura Vida!!!

  • We had a wonderful time here. The view of the ocean was fabulous. The location was great, we were a 10 min. walk into Quepos and a short bus ride to the Manuel Antonio park. Our host, Marta, was just amazing. Because she knows English as well as Spanish she was able to help us find transportation, book tours and answer our many questions. She was very helpful and most gracious in every way We felt safe in the area and very much enjoyed the local people - they were very kind and helpful. Accomadations were very good and the monkeys were plentyful and most entertaining. This was a very enjoyable experience. Thank you Marta!!

  • We stayed with Douglas and Marta for six nights at the end of January. At first we were a little intimidated by the steep hill the home sits on but quickly realized what a hidden gem Casa Pargo truly is. The luxury of having a full kitchen as well as a pool is really unique with short term apartment rentals and we felt like we hit the jackpot! Throw in an amazing sunset and afternoons feeding squirrel monkeys and you will have a vacation to remember. Douglas and Marta are extremely hospitable and are willing to help with anything they can.

Douglas- I have worked for the electric company for 27 years
Marta I have a very outgoing personality and love to dance, cook and laugh. I enjoy meeting and helping people. I love to travel throughout my country and other countries as well. My husband Douglas and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters, Bianca 23 and Sandy 18. Both girls attend the university in San Jose. Both Douglas and I were born and raised in Quepos and we think that with all of the lovely areas in Costa Rica, that the Quepos/Manuel Antonio are is the most beautiful. Douglas I like to dance and cook as well. Although I am not as outgoing as my wife, I do enjoy meeting other people. I have worked for the national electric company "ICE for 27 years as a maintenance supervisor. I like to travel and enjoy seeing other areas of our beautiful country. We slowly built on our property over the years and enjoy sharing it with others. Now with the pool and rancho completed I think we are finally finished.
