About this listing
Private bedroom with a queen sized futon bed (firm 10" mattress) and a comfortable desk workspace. It is on the upper level with a shared bathroom, access to washer/dryer, upstairs living room, kitchen and downstairs living room.
Stay in a newly renovated split foyer home with Eric, Tricia and our rescue pup Ruby. Our lives tend to revolve around art, theatre and music and you'll see this reflected in our home.
Our home is three bedrooms/two bath with an upstairs and downstairs living room (with fireplace). Enjoy your morning coffee at the kitchen table or in the morning sun on the back deck. Relax in the evening listening to music, watching tv or something from our random (eclectic?) DVD collection, or reading something from our large collection of books.
For guest staying less than 2 weeks, we'll provide fruit, granola bars, water and coffee in the morning to help you on your way. Trust us, we know it can be hard getting out the door. :-)
Interaction with Guests
We are very easy going and will match your level of interest in interaction. Eric is chatty and has lots of knowledge of the area and stories to share. Tricia is often bustling about with grad school, work and volunteer commitments.
We are respectful of your privacy and space.
This is a great location, very convenient area of College Park. Close to grocery/shopping/restaurants. We're on a quiet, safe street in the Hollywood neighborhood.
We are close to the National Archives, the USDA, NASA Goddard and the University of Maryland. By car there is easy access to Beltway, BW Parkway and I-95. Its 20 minutes via car to downtown DC and 25 minutes to Baltimore - traffic permitting of course (this is still DC). On street parking is available.
We are less than 1mile from Greenbelt Metro/MARC station, and a 5 minute walk (.3mi) to the bus stop (83 and 81 to Rhode Island Station).
Other Things to Note
Please send an inquiry prior to a reservation request.
No pets - Our Ruby is a lovable gal, unless you happen to be a dog, cat, squirrel, rabbit, bird hiding from the rain - you get the picture. She eventually plays well with other animals but can be domineering in the beginning so to avoid any conflicts please leave your furry friends at home.
Additional guests with advance notice only - Please no bringing home strangers, random hook-ups, long lost cousins, etc for the night. Our house is safe and comfy and we'd like to keep it that way.
Put food away - Ruby gets plenty of food but is always on the hunt for more. And though she may be small she can stretch halfway across the counter if she is inspired.
No smoking in the house.
No illegal drugs.
Ruby Rule #1 - She is always excited to see people. Our general rule when coming home is to ignore her fora few minutes to give her a chance to calm down. No touch, no talk, no eye contact until she is no longer actively seeking our attention. We would appreciate it if you followed the same guidelines. It can be hard to ignore her, she is awfully cute, but please help us with this.
Had a great time staying with Tricia and Eric! Their house is located in a safe and quiet residential area in College Park, not far from a large supermarket and some restaurants. If you're not carrying too much heavy stuff, the 20 minutes walk from the Metro station is also fine. Travelling to the College Park site of NARA was sometimes a bit strenuous, since there are only limited bus connections. However, if you plan ahead for the day, it's not too bad. That being said, having a car to travel around is definitely an advantage.
Now for Tricia and Eric's place: it was clean and cozy! I thought it was great that breakfast is included. Didn't see Tricia too often, but when I did, she was always extremely nice. Eric was great to chat to, always very helpful. He even offered to drop me off at the Metro station on the day I left. Overall, I felt very welcome and enjoyed staying at the house. Would definitely recommend it!
I came to College Park to do research at the National Archives and the National Agricultural Library, and this place was very conveniently situated to reach both locations. Tricia and Eric did a good job of introducing me to their College Park neighborhood and provided a very comprehensive list of local restaurants and other nearby attractions on arrival. The den was indeed cozy and the futon/sofa bed was comfortable. They provided a number of breakfast options, but I also kept groceries in their fridge and cooked some dinners in their lovely kitchen. On the weekends it was easy to jump on the metro to DC. Ruby is a sweet dog, too!
Tricia and Eric are perfect hosts! Eric picked me up from the Metro station and was helpful in telling me about the area. The room was comfortable and breakfast was an added bonus. The house is definitely in a great location for visiting UMD; I only wish it was closer to the Metro.
Tricia and Eric were very accomodating and helpful. The house was clean and comfortable. The neighborhood felt safe and was close to an NCLEX review class in Greenbelt. Also, just down the street was College Park with lots of restaurants/
We really enjoyed our stay with Tricia, Eric, and Ruby! They are super friendly and the pup is so sweet. The house is very clean and even nicer than in the pictures. I'd recommend their place to other travelers and I'd definitely stay here again.
Tricia and Eric really saved the day for us as we had to find a place to stay after we had a flooded apartment. They were super kind and the house is clean and so comfy!
We had a perfectly nice stay at Eric and Tricia's house. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The deck was our favorite place in the house, so nice to eat breakfast there on warm summer days! Eric was laid back and nice to talk to and Ruby was a total love! The house is conveniently located close to the highway and the walk to the metro was about 10 min long through a nice quiet neighborhood.

About the Host, Tricia And Eric
We are an easy-going couple with a friendly rescue pup.
Our knowledge of the DMV is expansive and we are always willing to give advice and suggestions on where to go, places to eat, etc. Eric has been in the area for 15 years and we're happy to assist whether it is tourism or relocation information you are looking for.
Tricia's a performer, grad student and arts administrator and Eric is a techie and designer. Tricia is from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and works at the University of Maryland. Eric, a Vermont native, is a Production Coordinator at the Performing Arts Center at UMD.
When we're not at the theater - we enjoy eating out and being active. We both have bikes that we're willing to allow our guests to use and know great trails and outdoor activities in the area.
Our rescue pup Ruby is very special. She is not dog friendly - so we cannot accommodate anyone with pets but she LOVES people. So, be prepared for lots of puppy loving! She likes to lick - but she also stops when she is told 'NO'.
We respect your privacy and our home is clean, comfortable and quiet. But we can be social if you'd like to hang out. Tricia is known for an occasional impromptu dance party. We have several board games, a vast DVD collection, a playstation, wii console, cable TV and wireless internet!
