Stay in a newly renovated split foyer home with Eric, Tricia and our rescue pup Ruby. Our lives tend to revolve around art, theatre and music and you'll see this reflected in our home.
Our home is three bedrooms/two bath with an upstairs and downstairs living room (with fireplace). Enjoy your morning coffee at the kitchen table or in the morning sun on the back deck. Relax in the evening listening to music, watching tv or something from our random (eclectic?) DVD collection, or reading something from our large collection of books.
The available bedroom is a private bedroom. It has a queen sized futon bed with a firm 10" mattress, and a comfortable desk workspace. It is on the upper level with a shared bathroom, access to washer/dryer, upstairs living room, downstairs living room and fireplace, internet and cable television.
We are less than 1mile from Greenbelt Metro/MARC station, and a 5 minute walk (.3mi) to the bus stop (83 and 81 to Rhode Island Station). Schedule permitting, we are willing to offer transport to and from the metro. Advance notice is preferred.
For guest staying less than 2 weeks, we'll provide fruit, granola bars, water and coffee in the morning to help you on your way. Trust us, we know it can be hard getting out the door. :-)
This is a great location, very convenient area of College Park. Close to grocery/shopping/restaurants. We're on a quiet, safe street in the Hollywood neighborhood.
We are close to the National Archives, the USDA, NASA Goddard and the University of Maryland. By car there is easy access to Beltway, BW Parkway and I-95. Its 20 minutes via car to downtown DC and 25 minutes to Baltimore - traffic permitting of course (this is still DC). On street parking is available.
My stay at Eric and Tricia's home was truly everything I hoped it would be. I was in town for an event at UMD, and the location was very convenient to the campus, which was my #1 concern. The house is very comfortable, and I had total privacy in the upstairs room for the two nights and days I was there. Eric (Tricia was out of town) was totally available and accommodating when I needed anything, and their dog, Ruby, is about the sweetest thing imaginable. No need to exaggerate here: it was a great stay, totally as advertised, and the next time I need to be in College Park, I know exactly where I'll stay.
Neat and convenient with helpful host. I you have a car and business in the NE quadrant of the Beltway, it's well worth the price.
I stayed with Tricia and Eric while attending a workshop at the University of Maryland. The room I stayed in had an EXTREMELY comfortable futon and a very handy desk to get some work done. If you want to cook, there are plenty of pans, pots and utensils to do whatever you are craving for. They had put together a binder full of recommendations and directions in case you want to explore the area. There is a very convenient organic grocery shop which is about a 10 minute walk from their place, and a bus stop to get to UMaryland (the bus stop is about a 5 minute walk). They have granola bars and fruit available for guests and Eric even baked some banana bread to have for breakfast. Plus - you will wake up to the aroma of a pretty good coffee! :)
Internet is fast, house is clean, comfortable and relaxing, and hosts are respectful, amicable and helpful. I highly recommend this place! Oh - and Ruby is such a playful and cute dog... :)
Tricia and Eric are great hosts! They are helpful and accommodating. They provided a super comfortable sleeping arrangement. They had (delicious) coffee every morning for us along with breakfast foods. The proximity to the Metro was helpful for the commute in D.C. every day. Ruby's softness and energy makes a long day of conferencing all better when you arrive at Tricia & Eric's home. We were very pleased with our visit and would stay with them again.
Such a nice house in a lovely neighborhood. Tricia and Eric are nice and decent hosts. They provide great breakfast and they make you feel like home. Eric also gave us a lift to the subway the day we were moving out. Size of room is a bit small but definitely this is not a problem and I would definitely go and stay there again.
Tricia and Eric (and Ruby) were great hosts who took care of us and supplied us with everything we needed.
It was fun to stay with them and we would love to come back again.
My stay by Tricia and Eric was perfect! The house is very clean and tidy. My room was small but perfect if your only need is to sleep! If you need to stay in College Park for some research at the Nara archive this house is perfect. Buses and train are very close and easy to reach. Tricia and Eric are very kind and gentle they help me a lot during my short stay by them. I absolutely recommed this house!
p.s. Ruby, their little dog, is very cute and clean!
Lovely people with a great house here. Quiet area. Nice relaxing deck. A pleasant walk to UMD. Not too far from metro to access DC. Highly recommended!
Exactly what I needed, quiet room with a desk to work on, with kitchen access, street parking, and easy drive to Goddard SFC. Ruby was super cute. Watching her putz around the house while I worked on my laptop made me really happy :)
My stay with Eric and Tricia was great. They are friendly and accommodating, happy to socialize and chat but very respectful of a guest's privacy. Their dog Ruby (or Rubster, as Eric often calls her) is incredibly sweet and well behaved (and loves to lick). The three of them really made it feel like I was coming back to a home after a day at the archives, instead of a hotel room.
My room was very comfortable---I had a desk to work at and plenty of natural light through the window. I could also roam the rest of the house, so I didn't feel cooped up, as I usually do in a hotel room. They keep the air conditioning set to a comfortable level. Their house is clean and tidy. Internet was fast and reliable (except for the time I accidentally unplugged their router...). Downstairs they have a comfy couch and easy chair, and a nice flatscreen HD TV with a great selection of cable channels. They also had videogames---I actually managed to play through all of Arkham Asylum on their PS3 during my visit!
They allow full use of their kitchen, which was another big highlight of my visit. I was able to make healthy meals and not rely on the microwave and fast food. They put out a nice spread of complementary breakfast snacks and foods, and there was a fresh pot of coffee every morning. I had breakfast with Eric most days I was there, and was having my dinner when Eric Tricia would get home, so always had company.
I parked on the curb out front and felt comfortable that my car was safe (I'm a bit paranoid about such things). They live in a quiet neighborhood with little traffic. The neighborhood, with lots of looping streets and plenty of shade, was excellent for walks and jogging.
I was visiting College Park so that I could go to the National Archives. It was a very short drive from their house to NARA; from getting out the door to parking at NARA was about 10 minutes, even in a bit of morning traffic.
They have two grocery stores nearby, easy to visit by car and fairly easy to get to on foot. Both stores are in shopping complexes where there were restaurants to eat.
This was my first experience using this website to get lodging and the results were fantastic. The next time I'm in the area I'd definitely stay with them again.
