This is a great place for your whole family to stay while you explore DC, with free off-street parking right outside your private entrance!
You will have the entire lower level of our house to yourselves. The space includes a bedroom, large play area, and fabulous spa bathroom including a jacuzzi tub and a large walk-in shower. The private entrance lets out into the off-street parking space and a brick-lined alley that abuts parkland.
The bedroom has a very comfortable queen pull-out bed (a Comfort Sleeper.) We also have one twin-sized aero bed, one toddler-sized aero bed, one queen aero bed and a portable crib that can be easily set up either in the lower level of the bedroom or in the large play area.
The rental does not include access to a kitchen, but we do have a coffee maker, tea pot, and bottle warmer to get you going in the morning.
We are in the beautiful Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Northwest DC, and we're within walking distance to the National Zoo. Our street is very quiet and residential with lots of families, but we are within walking distance to the main street with good restaurants, cafes, and shops. Many bus lines run through Mount Pleasant to take you to the metro (about a mile away) and other nearby neighborhoods including Cleveland Park, Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, and the U-Street Corridor.
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions you might have!
Monday-Friday, check-in is at 5 pm and check-out is at 9 am. If you need to arrange a different check-in time just let me know and we can figure it out. Check-out time on the weekends is flexible.
One important note about our property is that we have 3 dogs and an elementary-school-aged child, so you will likely hear us moving around upstairs. However, this also means you don't have to worry about being too loud yourselves ;o)
Maya was a perfect example of a great host, well organized and communicative. She helped us from the time we landed, with suggestions and directions, took extra care to make our stay comfortable by providing clean sheets and baby crib. Too bad we were for a short trip, we couldn't meet her in person. The only advise for other fellow travelers is not to be startled by the sounds of people walking in your room, they aren't, they are walking upstairs but it makes lot of noises and appears somebody is downstairs. Other than that the base heaters didnt work at all, we spent the two chilly nights without any heating mechanism, that was the only downside here.
Maya was great and the basement apartment was exactly what we were looking for. She made it very easy for us to use the space and the coffee and snacks in the morning were so lovely!
Beautiful space in a really nice neighborhood. Very comfy & homey would definitely recommend it.
Our toddler enjoyed all of the toy options. Parking space was great and host let us checkin early which was much appreciated. There was dust and debris in the tub so wasn't sure it had been cleaned recently. Can definitely hear upstairs noise. It was evident the space is used as a therapy office which felt a little unusual, but I guess it works.
Maya was very welcoming and communicative. She was flexible with us about the check-in and check-out times, which eased our travels considerably. It was very nice to have a coffee maker and Peet's coffee and milk in the fridge for coffee. The jacuzzi tub is fantastic. Certainly we could hear noise from upstairs in the morning but knew to expect it from other reviews. The location right on the park is leafy and quiet. The little jar of Swedish fish was a treat.
Maya's place was great. I was in town for a short weekend and the place was very accommodating.
I didn't meet with Maya in-person, but communicating via phone/text was simple. She was very easy to work with and allowed me to both check-in a bit early, and check out a bit late, which I really appreciated! The neighborhood is amazing and, for all you Car2Go users (and if you aren't... you should be!), I saw a couple parked around Maya's neighborhood-- so that's something to keep in mind as another travel option! All in all, great rental and would love to stay again if/when I'm in DC. I didn't get to utilize the jacuzzi... I blame no one but myself, however. :/
