Interaction with Guests
Someone is typically always home. Our guests vary, but most are business travelers, transplants, and vacationers. Many are repeat guests, and are respectful, responsible, and friendly. We also have two very well-behaved kids living here, so please be kid-friendly.
Our house is located in a residential neighborhood of Honolulu (Palolo Valley). We are just outside the craziness of Waikiki but it's a hop, skip and jump away if you want to go there. We are conveniently located about a mile away from the H1 on-ramps and off-ramps. Our street crosses Waialae Avenue, which is home to many great eateries to satisfy any palate-- Town Restaurant, Big City Diner, Zippy's, Aloha Crepes, Azteca. Follow Waialae Ave. east for a few minutes and you'll be at Kahala Mall-- more eateries: The Counter, CPK, Chili's, Whole Foods, Starbucks/Jamba, etc. 3 supermarkets are also close.
Renting a car or moped while here is highly recommended, as the house is tucked away in the back of a valley. If you have a moped/motorcycle/bicycle, there is safe and private off-street parking. If you have a car, there's street parking. (You'll need to walk up a steep driveway to the house, so be comfortable with doing that.) However if you do plan on using the bus as your main mode of transportation, there is a covered bus stop for "TheBus #9S" right across the street from the house.
Note: If you plan on staying longer than 30 days and would like affordable vehicle options, just ask.

Brendan and Christina embody the Aloha spirit and take pride in being good hosts. The home is well organized and kept very clean, and Brendan puts in his best effort to help make the guest's stay as comfortable and welcoming as possible, including inviting the guests to join him and the family in outdoor activities. Tofu (the dog) is very mellow and super friendly and available for a pat anytime you are willing. Brendan was also awesome for getting up in the wee hours of the morning to greet me, after my flight had been delayed 5 hours. The room was clean and comfortable and stocked with handy welcoming supplies. The home has almost everything you should need while on vacation, including the use of the kitchen and common areas, and towels, sunscreen, boards and snorkel gear for the beach. Having the other guests in the house makes it easy to meet and get to know other guests, and potentially explore the island together, but also private enough if you want to do your own thing. Quiet time is 10pm to 7am. One of the best shared accommodation experiences I have had with Airbnb so far. There's something to be said for a host that has this many good reviews. I would not hesitate to stay here again. = )
Staying at Brendan's house was such a great experience! As soon as I got there I felt at home. Brendan, Christina and the kids are very friendly and were great hosts! Brendan gave me an official tour of the house and helped me with anything that I needed. He has everything, and I mean everything available that you need and does not charge extra for it which was great! I got to use a surfboard, snorkel and the washer and dryer including soap for free anytime which was great! There were also plenty of utensils for cooking as well as some extra food left by other guests to share. Many times the other guests and I cooked meals for everyone to share. Brendan thought of everything, even things I wouldn't have thought of to feel comfortable during my stay. Simple things like having multiple towel racks and soap dishes make more of a difference than you think.
Above all, though the best part of my experience here was the great community of other guest and the hospitality Brendan and his family showed. You feel like part of the family from the start and I personally met some awesome friends. This was totally the beat Airbnb experience I have had yet and I cant wait to stay with these guys again! I wish it could have been longer!
Brendan and his family have been truly amazing hosts to my husband & I and our friend during our stay in Honolulu. From the time we arrived, which was quite late at night, he made us feel right at home and explained how everything worked in the house. Our room was great, very well equipped and perfect for what we needed. Brendan also stocked the fridge with bottles of water, cereal & candy bars which was a super nice touch.
The family as well as the other guests were great to hang out with after our day out and always had great tips on what to do on the island. We really wished we had more time to spend with everyone!
Our stay at Ohana Nui really exceeded our expectations. When we come back to Oahu, we are definitely staying with them again!
There literally aren't enough positive words in the English dictionary to describe my stay with Brendan. Brendan, Christina, the kids, and Tofu truly made me feel like part of the family. I arrived on the island and was scammed out of another place, so i texted Brendan and he answered right away, accommodating me asap. Once I was there, I immediately knew it was a great place. The kids are so well behaved and so polite, and not shy at all. You can sit for hours and they will try to help you figure out how to get to the next level in their new toy ( i got to level 17 of 100, its truly rocket science). Brendan opens his home to you, letting you use snorkel gear, surf boards, a laptop, printer. The list goes on and on. Not to mention the awesome kitchen that is state of the art. The coffee in the morning was alway delicious and plentiful, and one night there was even a family style dinner. In the description Brendan says Ohana Nui is because of the people. The guests were amazing and formed an instant connection with them. You never feel alone. You can be 10 or 110 and your going to fit in with everybody. The room is great as well. My bed was comfortable, there was a great fan (thats a underrated part, love a good fan) with a nice tv, private fridge, private entrance, and a desk. Theres really nothing else you could want. The bathroom situation is perfect as well. I never had to wait in line, and didn't feel bad about staying in there a little longer when the ole poke bowl hit me the wrong way. I can talk about amenities for days, this house has it all. But what is going to make me come back is the family aspect. The feeling that you've got a guy who will help you out if you need it is important when your on an island alone. He even picked me up some bread one time! If you are coming to Oahu and don't stay at this place, its either booked solid (probably) or you don't understand Ohana Nui's greatness. Unforgettable experience and I will be back for sure.
What a Great way to transition to Hawaii for my new job! Brendan and family are AMAZING hosts. Their home was better than expected, everything is super clean and Brendan would give or share the shirt off his back if you needed him too. It was a home away from home and I definitely made friends during my stay here for life. Everyone in the home is extremely respectful and friendly. Each room has a fridge that Brendan stocks you up with water and treats to get you started and comfortable with your stay. All the amenities and things you would need in a home are at your disposal. I give my full recommendation to anyone thinking of staying, don't hesitate and I would definitely stay here again.
I had a really great stay with Brendan and his two kids. Brendan was a wonderful host. he is very friendly and has a great sense of humor. he made me feel like I was in my home. We always had a movie night(the movies were great, too) and I often play some kind of coin games with his adorable kids! I was visiting Hawaii for work, but Brendan's house was the perfect place to get my work done and made me comfortable. the room was super-clean, and I was able to use all of amenities what I need. also, Brendan's house was perfect place to meet another travelers. my best choice in Hawaii was decided to stay 'Ohana Nui. Mahalo Brendan!
I had a great time staying with Brendan and Stephanie! I was visiting Honolulu for work, not play, but their house was the perfect place to get my work done and still have a good time. The atmosphere there with the other guests is great--I met lots of wonderful people from all over the world. It was like home away from home. Thank you!

100+ great reviews and Airbnb SUPER HOSTS!! Wow. 'Ohana Nui owes it all to great guests with a fun fresh and positive outlook on their travel and vacation. Thank you everyone for making 'Ohana Nui what it is.
Aloha! We are Brendan and family, and we enjoy sharing our beautiful three story home, 'Ohana Nui, with respectful travelers from around the world. Brendan works in construction and loves to "talk story" and Stand Up Paddle Surf. Christina is a busy Real Estate Agent who knows all the local hot spots and eateries. The kids, though not here all the time, are two well-behaved, respectful children (ages 7 and 8) who love meeting all the "uncles and aunties" in the house. And Tofu is our 4 year old dog that loves eating and napping.
We keep our home smoke-free, drug-free. We also keep everything clean and tidy. We do not have a party house by any means, just a nice place to relax and make new friends.
The name of our home, 'Ohana Nui, means Big Family, which is what we aspire to be to our guests. We strive to provide all the comforts of home with quality and affordability and to provide a great experience with a local feel, just outside of Waikiki.
