Aloha! Our family owns and operates 'Ohana Nui, a 3 story house in the heart of Palolo Valley. We have enjoyed hosting many business travelers, transplants, vacationers and long and short-term guests over the last 7 years, and continue to provide guests with all the comforts of home, with quality and affordability. We will show you the aloha as we provide a great experience with plenty of local flair, just outside of Waikiki. Over the years 'Ohana Nui has gained in popularity and rooms book on average 1 to 3 months in advance (we have many repeat guests). So, if you want to stay at a great place and save some money too, please book early. We look forward to having you as our guest.
THE 'ELUA ROOM:
The 'Elua room is nicely tucked away at the rear of the second floor. It has its own private entrance and is furnished with a Full size bed, dresser, desk/chair, mini-fridge, WIFI, Cable TV, DVD, Blu-Ray, & Netflix, and an armoire/dresser for clothes.
Some of the other amenities include the following: Island Discount Cards/Books, Maps, Learner Surfboard, Snorkel Gear, GPS, WIFI Netbook Computer and printer, DVD and Blue-Ray Collection, some shared all free of charge to use while you're here.
THE 'OHANA NUI ~ THE HOUSE AND GUESTS:
'Ohana Nui means Big Family, which is what we aspire to be to our guests. This is not a party house by any means, just a nice place to come home to, relax, and make new friends. Our home is smoke-free and drug-free, and is kept clean and tidy. Our guests are welcome to enjoy all common areas including kitchen and dining room, spacious living room, and a beautiful lanai and deck. All guest rooms share 2.5 bathrooms, and there is a great HE washer/dryer (no quarters needed and detergent is included). The kitchen is well supplied and has updated HE appliances and a dishwasher if you plan on cooking at home.
The house does have STAIRS and a rather steep driveway, so please be comfortable walking up and down them.
Our housemates/guests vary, but are mostly business travelers, transplants, and vacationers. Many are repeat guests, and typically respectful, responsible, and friendly. We also have two very well-behaved kids living here, so please be kid-friendly.
ABOUT THE AREA
Our house is located in a residential neighborhood of Honolulu (Palolo Valley). We are just outside the craziness of Waikiki but it's a hop, skip and jump away if you want to go there. We are conveniently located about a mile away from the H1 on-ramps and off-ramps. Our street crosses Waialae Avenue, which is home to many great eateries to satisfy any palate-- Town Restaurant, Big City Diner, Zippy's, Coffee Talk, Azteca. Follow Waialae Ave. east for 5 minutes and you'll be at Kahala Mall-- more eateries: The Counter, CPK, Chili's, Whole Foods, Starbucks/Jamba, etc. 3 supermarkets are also close.
Renting a car or moped while here is a MUST, as the house is tucked away in the back of a valley. If you have a moped/motorcycle/bicycle, there is safe and private off-street parking. If you have a car, there's street parking. (You'll need to walk up a steep driveway to the house, so be comfortable with doing that.) However if you do plan on using the bus as your main mode of transportation, there is a covered bus stop for "TheBus #9S" right across the street from the house.
What we expect from our guests:
* DEFINITELY DOESN'T SMOKE!!
* Honest, respectful, responsible
* Likes to be social, but never brings the party home
* Works/plays *outside* of the house
* Sorry, no pets allowed
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask! We want our guests to be happy here, so our lines of communication are always wide open. ;)

I cannot say enough positive things about staying at Ohana Nui. Very warm, friendly, and hospitable family, clean and inviting house, great location. Brendan, Stephanie, and the kids are fun and welcoming. The house is close to the Waikiki action while being in a quiet neighborhood. Staying in the Elua room was great for my few month stay as a student; everything I needed while studying in Honolulu short-term. If you are traveling alone, this house is great because there are other travelers looking to make friends, or just share some smalltalk over dinner. Having access to a full kitchen, laundry, beach gear, and other amenities was great. There was never a fight over the bathrooms either, especially if you are working and leave earlier in the morning. A great place to come home to at night if you are vacationing or working! This is an AirBnB experience at its finest.
9th time staying with brendan and Stephanie, each time is better then the last. A+ people and A+ place to be!!! Highly recommend
I stayed with Stephanie and Brendan for a week and I really loved living with them and the kids. They were very nice (even if I was confused about my arriving date) and they did everything they could to make everything easy for me and to make me feel part of the family. It really felt like home! The house is beautiful, clean, quiet and well located. I spent wonderful moments with them sharing barbecue, spending time on the beach and living my first Thanksgiving with them! They really try to make you discover the Hawaian life. Brendan, Stephanie and the kids were so warm and welcoming that now I found my own place and it feels a little bit empty but I am looking forward to keeping seeing them outside Airbnb. I highly recommend staying there!
A+ hosts. I stayed with Brendan and Stephanie for 3 months while I was on my clinical (email hidden)e house was always clean and comfortable and my stay was great!! They gave me advice on places to go in Oahu and also introduced me to a cheap car rental place nearby which really helped me out since I was staying for so long. Brendan and Steph are very warm & welcoming and I was invited to their beach outings and movie nights. Lovely family! I'll miss them and the kids! -Liz the mermaid
A+ Host. Great place to spend time !!! Brendan and Stephanie are really great hosts. The room was exactly as described. Would go back again to stay in this place. Renting with them made this trip a great trip. Very helpful with everything and gave me great tips on what to do on the island. Thank you again !!!
I had a great time staying at Brendan & Stephanie's Ohana Nui. The house is very modern, neat, clean and exceptionally quiet! They have two awesome kids, Gabby & Sal. They are great kids. Brendon &
Stephanie are great hosts and will answer any questions you have and give you advice about the area. I borrowed their Diamond Head pass for the day... a hike and view you don't want to miss... it is worth the effort. Altho, I admit I wasn't at the house much....I was busy enjoyi ng Hawaii, I loved the time I spent there and would definitely stay at their home again. I did get to enjoy one movie night with them and some other houseguests...great popcorn with toppings!! And we shared a great bottle of Pineapple Wine one evening. You won't find a better value for your money! I would reccomend that you have transportation, or rent a car ... that was somewhat of an issue for me and next time I would definitely rent a car.The driveway is very steep so be prepared for a little hike & some stairs... I got some good exercise! It is a nice neighborhood... I actually walked to the bus stop almost daily and felt perfectly safe. I had a fabulous time and plan on coming back again. I made some new friends and hopefully will see them all again soon!
I just had a blast staying with this family. These guys are amazing! I'm still overwhelmed by the warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere over there. The aloha spirit is all over this place. They took me to the city lights on Christmas, we did the Koko trail together, had a fun beach day and they invited me to Christmas dinner, which was absolutely great. I was traveling on my own and I just felt home when I stepped into the house. They always treated me like a family member which I really appreciated.
I really enjoyed having breakfast or dinner with them and/or other travellers. Everything was just perfect. The kids are so much fun, well behaving and just adorable! I Would adopt them right away.
I highly recommend this place and I'm going to stay with this amazing family for another 4 weeks at the end of this month! Looking forward and can't wait because it was hard to leave even if I spent just one week over there.
