Interaction with Guests
Someone is typically always home. Our guests vary, but most are business travelers, transplants, and vacationers. Many are repeat guests, and are respectful, responsible, and friendly. We also have two very well-behaved kids living here, so please be kid-friendly.
Our house is located in a residential neighborhood of Honolulu (Palolo Valley). We are just outside the craziness of Waikiki but it's a hop, skip and jump away if you want to go there. We are conveniently located about a mile away from the H1 on-ramps and off-ramps. Our street crosses Waialae Avenue, which is home to many great eateries to satisfy any palate-- Town Restaurant, Big City Diner, Zippy's, Aloha Crepes, Azteca. Follow Waialae Ave. east for a few minutes and you'll be at Kahala Mall-- more eateries: The Counter, CPK, Chili's, Whole Foods, Starbucks/Jamba, etc. 3 supermarkets are also close.
Renting a car or moped while here is highly recommended, as the house is tucked away in the back of a valley. If you have a moped/motorcycle/bicycle, there is safe and private off-street parking. If you have a car, there's street parking. (You'll need to walk up a steep driveway to the house, so be comfortable with doing that.) However if you do plan on using the bus as your main mode of transportation, there is a covered bus stop for "TheBus #9S" right across the street from the house.
Note: If you plan on staying longer than 30 days and would like affordable vehicle options, just ask.

Brendan made me feel at home from the first time I arrived. He waited me although my arrival was 2 hours delayed. The house was clean, cozy, with a lanai, which I can feel a cool mountain breeze. The neighborhood was quiet and safe.
Thank you for the stay!!
This was my first time using Air BNB, and I had an amazing experience staying at Ohana Nui. Brendan and the family were extremely courteous and accommodating. The house it self is perfectly located, and is able to comfortably accommodate any of your needs. This is the kind of place that you can feel safe at, and truly get to see the island from the eyes of those who know it best. Brendan did not hesitate to offer to include myself and the other guests in multiple activities (camping, surfing, movie night and even dinner together). The house has so many things that you can use, that just makes the stay that much better. All in all 11 out of 10 for a superb accommodation, cannot wait to come back for another visit. Mahalo!
Great place. A+++ I will stay again next time I go to Honolulu. Brendan was great and the room just what I wanted.
It was my first stay with Airbnb and it was more than perfect. The room was like described and everything was super clean. The house has everything you need...even more ;-) The hosts are really friendly and helpful. We had some fun times together like movie nights, SUP or an awesome evening at Germains Luau! Will definitely come again at my next visit on Oahu. Thank you for fantastic 2 weeks!
Staying here has been a great experience overall!! I moved to Oahu for an internship for several months and I could not have asked for better hosts and a place to stay during my time here. They've really made an effort to make all of the guests feel like family and were very accommodating with any concerns or issues that I had. Thanks to Brendan, my transition to Oahu couldn't been smoother. He's a very nice guy, always willing have some fun outdoors. First day I had arrived at the house, within a few hours, he had taken me out to surfing and shown me around town!! It was also really nice to have other guests in the house to be able talk and share stories time to time. I couldn't say enough good things about them!! Highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Honolulu
If you're looking for a great experience and want a not-so-touristy-and-more-local type of atmosphere, this is the place to be! Christina, Brendan and family are wonderful hosts! Great communicators and very approachable. We are 3 ladies, first-timers to Hawaii and we felt very welcome, safe and comfortable in their beautiful home. They would also invite us to join them in all day activities such as: camping, beach day with boogie boarding, surfing, and karaoke. Since they're local, they know a lot about places to go to, and have recommendations on food and any affordable activities you're looking for. Amenities were more than plenty: boogie boards, surfboards, beach towels, mats, snorkel gear, shower towels, laundry, full access to kitchen, mini fridge in room stocked with snack bars/water bottles, TV with netflix, coffee everyday in the AM, and if you need anything more, just ask - chances are, they might have it! Got to borrow their vacuum to clean out my rental car on the last day. Awesome! Location is ideal - close to Waikiki and other hot spots and is in a safe neighborhood. Parking was never an issue. If I were to visit Oahu again, I would book with them without a second thought!

About the Host, Brendan
150+ great reviews and Airbnb SUPER HOSTS!! Wow. 'Ohana Nui owes it all to great guests with a fun fresh and positive outlook on their travel and vacation. Thank you everyone for making 'Ohana Nui what it is.
Aloha! We are Brendan and family, and we enjoy sharing our beautiful three story home, 'Ohana Nui, with respectful travelers from around the world. Brendan works in construction and loves to "talk story" and Stand Up Paddle Surf. The kids, though not here all the time, are two well-behaved, respectful children (ages 7 and 9) who love meeting all the "uncles and aunties" in the house.
We keep our home smoke-free, drug-free. We also keep everything clean and tidy. We do not have a party house by any means, just a nice place to relax and make new friends.
We have a small loving Chihuahua-mix dog named Aloha that lives with us in our home. You and your guest must be okay with being Aloha's friend while in the common/shared areas of our home, as she will surely want to be your friend.
The name of our home, 'Ohana Nui, means Big Family, which is what we aspire to be to our guests. We strive to provide all the comforts of home with quality and affordability and to provide a great experience with a local feel, just outside of Waikiki.
