  • This building is located in a safe neighborhood in a beautiful area of the city. Parking can be found if you are observant of reading the parking signs and moving the car as necessary according to the signs. The private room with attached bathroom was very clean. The shower has plenty of hot water. The Metro is a short two blocks away and Arlette offered plenty of suggestions for neighborhood restaurants as well as other points of interest. She is an artist and very knowledgeable about art galleries. She is resourceful and willing to offer suggestions about anything your interested in. The room is spartan but does the job, coffee and tea are available. You are free to come and go as you please.

  • Arlette was very nice and attentive host. She gave me more than enough info before the trip on how to get there and was happy to provide advice about NYC and the area. The apartment is well located on a fairly quiet street right next to Central Park, but also close to 2 subway lines. The bedroom was large and the bed was fine. The bathroom was tiny, but it was private--which was a huge plus for me. It is an older building, and nothing fancy at all. Arlette keeps the apartment very clean.

This was my first Airbnb experience, and it all went well!

  • Great location - super easy to get a cab right out the door and the B/C subway line is only two blocks away so I could get anywhere I needed to go with no trouble at all.

It's right across the street from Central Park which provides a wonderful view of nature, an unexpected treat in the middle of NYC. We didn't spend much time in the area eating, but Amsterdam and Broadway were just a few blocks away, so lots of eating choices.

The bed definitely needed a new pad - but I am very picky about beds, but better sleepers may not feel the same discomfort. The room was spacious enough for two people. We had use of the fridge and Arlette provided an electric kettle and tea bags in the room which we used a lot. I got some Starbucks Via instant coffee packets for my morning coffee and I was set.

Due to the bed and the fact that Arlette has a lot of rules, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall it is a good place to crash when visiting NYC.

  • My stay with Arlette has been simply wonderful!I can truly recommend her lovely room to every traveler! It is exactly as you see it on her pictures, lovely vibes, very clean & super charming & perfectly located. She herself is an adorable lady with a very cute little dog named Charlot. Go and see for yourself, I promise, you will not regret it! I hope to be back there soon myself : )!

  • If you are looking for character and a unique stay in a lovely apartment there is probably no better value than Arlette's place. I am a New Yorker and have many places I can stay, but sometimes I end my own place when I'm back in th city and I thought th Upper West Side - right across from Central Park! - was a wonderful spot.
Arlette is a very helpful host and has an enchanting apartment. You will be in another world and in another time here. I like this.
    Bonjour Arlette and Charlot :)

  • My friend Amanda and I traveled to NYC Dec 28-Jan 2 to tour and experience New Year's Eve in Times Square. We had a very easy time getting in contact with Arlette before and after we arrived. We had a little miscommunication on when we were arriving, and she wasn't too happy we were earlier than expected. So She will really appreciate it if you make sure you tell her exactly when you arrive! Other than that, Arlette really was a kind, friendly, helpful host. She gave us lots of maps, told of things to and helped us whenever we needed it. She also gave us lots of tips on how to save money! The room was spacious enough for two and we had a lot of privacy. The apetment is adorable and all windows look right out to Central Park . The subway is literally a block away and SO easy to get to! It was great because we traveled to downtown everyday. Arlette let us leave our luggage until we left in the evening, which was very nice. Be advised that she smokes- which I don't think is listed in the details- she asks if it's ok when you arrive but the apartment smells a little smokey- just for those who don't like smoke or are allergic! Overall, This was our first time booking through airbnb and we had a great experience. If we ever travel to nyc again, or even Paris, we will definitely be contacting Arlette! Oh and her dog is just the sweetest dog you'll ever meet :)

  • Arlette and her dog were very gracious hosts. The room was bright and clean, and the neighborhood is perfectly located and relatively quite. It's proximity to the 103rd St. Station is a very nice attribute also. My first trip to New York was very smooth in no small part to Arlette!

  • We loved our stay with Arlette! She is charming, friendly, and a very well organized host. The views from the apartment are spectacular as she states. The neighborhood has many amenities, and Arlette directed us to all of them. The subway is nearby which is very convenient. Arlette told us how to get from the airport to her apartment using the bus and subway, a new adventure for us! We have been to New York many times, and it's fun for us to stay in and explore different parts of the city. We would definitely lodge with Arlette again.

Unusually so, I am a woman of 2 cities New York and Paris. Love them both Originally from France where I own and rent an apartment I used to live there in this great neighborhood the Marais, that I know like my pocket I will give you all kind of tips (I love food!) . I have wonderful caretakers who will welcome you while I'll stay in touch with you before, during and after thanks to the internet and phone. I have lived 40 years on and off in the Big Apple. I love New York. I will help you love it too. I wear a smile and I have the New York energy in me. I live in big 2 bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side across from Central Park, so civilized and peaceful but close enough to the jungle, I rent one of my 2 bedrooms -be my guests... I have traveled twice around the world. I am forever curious. I love to paint, do yoga, do business, cook, jazz clubs and opera, bicycle and of course first, my son. I have a small cabin in the woods Upstate 2 hours North of NYC where I escape on weekends that keeps me sane.(I might start renting it also some day(: ) Now I understand well your thirst for discovery. I enjoy receiving people ,sharing stories, I communicate easily. See you soon. Arlette
