A unique private canyon retreat located in one of San Diego's most coveted historic neighborhoods of Mission Hills. Enjoy this peaceful studio, it's amazing outdoor space and stunning views over Mission Valley and beyond.

The space
This studio is part of a historic home noted for its Spanish Renaissance architecture and designed by world famous architect William Templeton Johnson in 1922. Many of his other works can be found in San Diego, La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, Coronado and Balboa Park.

It's sits in a very private setting in a lush canyon with seamless indoor/outdoor living. The space is light and inviting with a beautiful patio deck that cavilers into the canyon. There is not a kitchen in this space , but has a refrigerator and coffee maker for convenience. We have enjoyed this space at times for guests & family, a craft room and mostly as a retreat to sit and enjoy the canyon and views. We hope you will as well.

We do not allow pets/animals of any kind because we have family member allergic to dog/animal/dander and cat hair. The disk mounted inside the closet is a Long-Range Access Point for WiFI due to the studio located below in the canyon.Please use the lockbox to keep the keys in when coming and going- to prevent loss or locking yourself out. We will not rescue you in the middle of the night if you lock yourself out.

This enchanting studio is accessed down a short flight of stairs to a lower part of the lush canyon which provides tranquility and privacy.

This is a listing of restaurants and bars in and around the Mission Hills neighborhood. Mission Hills has everything from pizza and burger joints to fine dining. You can find everything from hole-in-the walls to upscale wine bars and martini lounges. Mission Hills residents benefit from their commercial cores being within walking distance to their homes and other patrons can find ample parking. Our local restaurants and bars are clustered on Washington Street and India Street.

With its lush landscaping and winding canyons, driving into Mission Hills is like entering an oasis. However, its central location and easy transportation access means you are just minutes from all that San Diego has to offer.

Mission Hills has come to be synonymous with some of San Diego's finest examples of historic architecture. Its first home, Villa Orizaba, was built in 1887 and subsequent subdivisions such as Avalon and Inspiration Heights were developed in the early 20th century. Now collectively known as Mission Hills, these homes were built in a variety of styles including Craftsman Bungalows, Prairie Homes, and Spanish and Mission Revival, just to name a few. Some of San Diego's finest architects worked in the area, such as William E. Hebbard and Richard Requa. The architectural diversity of the neighborhood is one of its finest features today.

The abundant greenery and beautiful gardens of Mission Hills are also famous throughout San Diego. Much of the neighborhood owes thanks to Kate Sessions, also known as the Mother of Balboa Park, who opened a nursery in the neighborhood in 1910. Still in business today, the Mission Hills Nursery is San Diego's longest running nursery and a gathering point for community green thumbs.

In addition to its warm residential feel, Mission Hills has an active business community offering fine dining, shops and services within walking distance for its residents.
