The Birdhouse above Monkeypod tree!

Cabin - Entire home/apt · Moloaa Rd, Kilauea, HI 96754, United States

The Space

This is a sweet little house with a deck that is on a hill overlooking a giant monkeypod tree, garden and stream below. Listen to the ocean and enjoy the privacy and peacefulness here in your little bungalow. Shared kitchen and dinning area (photos in our Garden House listing) and covered outdoor shower area.

This is a beautiful, rustic retreat and event sanctuary located on the sacred island of Kaua’i. The land is situated just a few minutes walk from the protected Moloaa Bay, and is just 30 minutes from the airport. Moloaa, is known for its farming community and rural, “off the beaten track” feel.
Moloaa fruit stand is just up the road if you want morning coffee, smoothies or lunch, or just use the kitchen area we provide for your meals.

Our mission is to connect people to the beauty of Kauai, and our spaces have been created to blend seamlessly with the nature that surrounds us. We strive to be as “eco-friendly” as we can, and to minimize our impact on our surroundings. The buildings are constructed using reclaimed and recycled antique teak and sandalwood from 150 year old buildings in Thailand.

This is a place to remember our connection to the wonder of life. It is a place to relax, unplug, and experience life the way it once was. Come enjoy the open air structures, the healing ocean, and the beauty that is Old Kaua’i. We look forward to sharing the wonder of Moloaa with you.

Guest Access

Bikes, beach chairs, fins and snokling gear, yoga mats, surf boards, tandem kayak, spear guns, fishing poles, beach towels, scuba tank, boogie boards, and Moloaa Bay.

Interaction with Guests

We are happy to talk with our guest if they want to know about anything. We also are happy to let our guest have their own personal retreat time without interuptions.

The Neighborhood

We are just a few minutes from Moloaa Bay, which is great for swimming, snokling on the north and south sides, enjoying the nice beaches and hiking to the north point for sunrise to see turtles or whales.
We also have Moloaa fruit stand just up the road for coffee, smoothies, sandwiches; as well as a good health food store 10 minutes drive to the north. Also Common ground garden restaurant across from the health food store has organic and local breakfast and lunches that are wonderful.

Getting around

We really recommend renting a car due to the fact that Kaua'i is very spread out.
That said, the bus stop is up the hill at Moloaa fruit stand and hitch hiking is common and easy in Kauai.

  • first kauai trip for my husband and i. we were impressed. FAR OUT and super awesome. like being in backcountry but in a cute cottage with a very comfortable bed. we fell asleep every night to tropic sounds underneath an expansive tree that covers the property like a large umbrella. view from the bed as well as the balcony was something that we are going to miss. we took short peaceful strolls to moloa bay. made use of the boogie boards from the property as well. anthony and hami are people people and happy to share their joys with others. they invited the guests for appetizers at their home for one of the couples' engagement and were invited to use their sauna and entertained with a eukalele serenade from their friend. a very unique experience. THANK YOU for a wonderful stay.

  • I could not wish for a better place to stay on Kauai. Anthony and Hami created this awesome place - it was just perfect. Loved the birdhouse and the fantastic jungle right in front of it. Another higlight was the very friendly welcome from Anthony and Hami. They are great hosts and I highly appreciate their hospitality.
Whether you are looking for peace and quiet or company in beautiful surroundings, this place has something for everyone. I can highly recommend this place and hope that I will have one day the opportunity to come back.

  • If you like the outdoors, waking up to birds singing with a breeze going by, aren't afraid to let a spider live, want to hear geckos chirp, and have relaxed mornings drinking your coffee with a sweet jungle kitty purring beside you, then let this place be your sanctuary. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The grounds are beautiful with fresh fruit to pick off the trees. The roosters crow during the night, but that's everywhere on the island :) I met some wonderful people during my stay, this of course included Anthony and Hami who were just genuine and sweet. They've put in a lot of work into this property and it shows. I will definitely be back! Maybe in the summer next time ;)

  • Quaint, original cabin in a great location. Anthony was an attentive host, and we can attest that this cabin is completely weatherproof (there were insane rain storms during our stay!).

Bring earplugs for the Kauai wild chickens, the roosters "sing" for hours in the early morning (but that's all across Kauai, not specific to the Birdhouse!). The Birdhouse is a cute little jewel in a magical setting.

  • We couldn't have had a more lovely and unique stay here for our honeymoon. We spent three nights in the Birdhouse and three in the Zen Root. Anthony and Hami are truly good people who will warmly welcome you and make you feel like your home is theirs. (We would have moved in if we could have!) The Birdhouse is a sweet little nook on the hill with a lush view of the property - great little deck and you can feel the winds all night. The common shower and cooking area are great as well, and they have beach goods (coolers, boards, beach mats, bikes, snorkel gear) you can borrow. We met really cool people here. We loved taking our coffee and walking down the road to Moloa'a Bay in the morning. The Zen Root room is even more incredible - a testament to the creative minds of the owners - Anthony built everything on the property and the work he's done really shines in the Zen Root. Each nook is a work of art. Comfy bed, great little kitchen, outdoor shower and tub with hot hot water. The ocean sounds all night were incredible. We will definitely be back to the Zen Root and, in the mean time, hope others have the opportunity to visit. Mahalo Anthony and Hami!

  • ;-) Don`t tell other people: It is the best place to relax and to reconnect with the source of inner and outer nature, - coming into peace within. I loved the bird house: Wonderful view over one part of the calm and energetic touching and charging atmosphere of the property. Anthony and Hami are wonderful, - they give no possibilty to miss anything. I valued their offer to join in a potluck, that gave opportunity to come together with the community in a gentle and happy way. Mahalo Peter

  • Had a nice time in the birdhouse. Everyone was friendly and helpful, restroom and shower were clean.

  • Anthony's Birdhouse was my perfect little getaway. Anthony and Hami really have a lovely space here, beautiful garden, and what really makes it is the wonderful other AirBnB'ers that come through and of course, Anthony and Hami. Moloaa Bay was peaceful, quiet -- the area is off the beaten path and I like that. It also wasn't a long drive from really great food either -- the Kilauea Fish Market and Common Ground are close and highly recommended. I had fresh coconuts each day and even fresh eggs sometimes. You're in the trees here so there's sounds and critters everywhere but I enjoyed my little break from city life.

The deck attached to the room is a good place to sit and read after your day exploring. The Birdhouse is small but comfortable and since everything is open air anyway, it never feels confined.

I really can't say enough nice things about Anthony and Hami as hosts. Highly recommend staying here.
