Interaction with Guests
I love to hang out with my guests with that glass of wine or coffee or sweet tea. Sometimes we go and do things together. I'm 5th generation here and know the secrets of my city. Bring your dog for an extra fee of $20/day and $30 for two per day and they need to meet my approval before booking, please. No Pit Bulls. Love to get to know you!! I'm home a lot as I work selling real estate here in Charleston, but on rare occasion may be on vacation. However, I do work from home so have limited time to visit. If I am not in town, sometimes I have a house sitter, or you would be on your own!
This is the oldest, prettiest (in my opinion) neighborhood on James Island. There are ancient oaks lining every street. Its surrounded on 3 sides by salt marsh, creeks, river and Intercoastal Waterway which we see from the deck. I'm two blocks from restaurants/theater/bars/music venue/boat landing/park. We have Sun. afternoon farmers market in neighborhood (not during winter). Friendly, safe, quiet. AND ONLY 10 to 12 MIN. To DOWNTOWN!! And 15 min. to the beach unless its a weekend morning, can take longer.
There is bus service, not so convenient. Most guests rent a car. I highly recommend having a car. It is not possible to walk to the historic district due to bridges over water. I provide airport transportation with notice for $35 each way and downtown for $15. I am not always available for that. Taxis ($15 to 20) or Uber can be called. Also, can try biking. Bikes in the garage for your convenience.

PLEASE PARK IN DRIVEWAY! Its ok to park in front of the garage door. Please keep your room door shut for privacy when out of the house or going to bed at night. And shut both doors to the space to keep HVAC systems separate. Also, please turn HVAC so it won't run the whole time you are out of the room. Dogs must me approved before booking!!
Crystal was a gracious and welcoming host. My stay in her waterfront room was extremely comfortable. She makes sure that her guests feel at home during their stay! You should consider her as a host for your next AirBnB stay!
Our 3-day visit to Crystal's place in Charleston went great. It was quiet, clean, and convenient. Our host embodies what AIRBNB is all about. She has tons of information on the area, and even gave us some passes to the Magnolia Plantation gardens.
This is a most unusual woman - interesting, interested in conversation, well-versed in her beloved Charleston. Altogether a special person, and a great, private, clean room - very quiet, truly. The bathroom is spotless.
Crystal is welcoming, at the door, professional, but very approachable. We spoke a long time, about so many things - you'll never be lonely, and she's very generous with the food and drink in her refrig - even offered a nightly glass of wine, if we wanted. Or a game of Scrabble with her. We laughed a lot about life and the way things do, or don't work out. What more could you ask? The room, the view off her back patio, her kindness and frankness. This is a terrific place, and 10-12 minutes from downtown Charleston - there's also great places to eat near her house.
I will hold you to that Scrabble, but I may be my favorite opponent, on many levels. Ha! Happy Mother's Day. Wish you two were here as I've been on the sunny!!! porch this morning, happy the rain has abated. the painter came yesterday and cleaned the last of the pollen, leaves off the roof and did some interior and exterior painting. Always working on the old plantation here. Your review was the best ever. I am used to being called unusual, in fact, my brothers are always encouraging me to straighten up and "act normal". Hope you had a smooth trip home.
My wife and I stayed in Crystal's home, the waterfront room upstairs for a two night getaway to Charleston. We enjoyed our stay and I found the listing to be very accurate. The home is in a very nice, quiet, older neighborhood on James Island between downtown/North Charleston and Folly Beach. As long as you have a car, these locations are a short drive. The CHS Pour House and The Lot restaurant are within walking distance. Thank you for a pleasant stay Crystal.
Crystal was very nice and helpful. She had a packet with a list of her favorite things to do in Charleston too.
The room was perfect for what we needed and is in a private loft in her house. She opened up the kitchen for common use and was nice enough to offer us wine/beer and snacks during our stay.
I would definitely stay here if I come back to Charleston again.
The location was OK, though not all that close to historic downtown? At least 15 minutes away. Crystal communicated well with us before hand, and was there to greet us and give us a quick tour upon arrival, which was appreciated. Crystal is warm and friendly. She provided numerous tourist information items which were helpful.
The biggest problem was that even though the platform bed mattress is comfortable, the very high built-in platform bed itself is a pain in the neck even if you're agile. When the person close to the windows has to get out of bed to use the bathroom, they have to climb over the other person and the carefully negotiate the steps down to the floor.
The place is extremely clean, we have 5 stars in that category. It is professionally cleaned top to bottom between each guest. Sorry we missed the cobweb, I checked and didn't see one, and there can be an occasional Palmetto bug that comes in and the one you saw was dead by the back door. Living in the woods under ancient oaks comes with wildlife. As far as location, the listing is clear that it is near downtown for one third the price of a downtown accommodation. It takes me 7 minutes to get there. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Also, the bed is clearly shown in all the photos and other guests mention that it may not be good for older people. I concur. All of the linens were brand new on the bed, as well as the pillows. There is another bed in the room, if someone prefers it. The views are fabulous from there and that is what its all about. Most think it is like being in a treehouse with the joy of watching the birds from up high.
Room was clean and bright. Back porch overlooking stream with lots of wildlife. Quiet residential neighborhood close to downtown Charleston. Very restive. Crystal was very helpful and enthusiastic. She was a great spokeswoman for Charleston! We enjoyed our stay and met new friends with Crystal & her other guests. Must see is the Angel Oak and take a guided day tour of Charleston. Hope to return & will stay at Crystal's.

About the Host, Crystal
I'm a Realtor with Brand Name Real Estate here in Charleston. Also a home renovator and grateful airbnb host. I love animals and being outdoors. I enjoy great conversations, and lots of laughter. Who doesn't? I love to be active, swimming in the ocean, going to dancersize, yoga, walks around the historic district of Charleston to admire the gardens and architecture of the old homes. Good food, a nice glass of wine, quiet time in the evenings are my idea of the perfect end to the day. I like all kinds of music, old movies, slice of life, triumph over adversity in my books and movies. No violence please. I've traveled throughout the Caribbean and Latin America and own a home in Costa Rica on the Pacific Coast. Recently went to Europe and am anxious to go back. Love to have visitors to show them our beautiful sights.
