Elegant New apt in Lower East Side

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Ridge St, New York, NY 10002, United States

The Space

This is a great apartment full of charm, located in one of the best spots in New York City. It has two bedrooms facing East, and it's located at the third floor of a brand new lux building, with elevator, indoor bike parking, and brand new washing machines and dryers in the basement. The apartment is fully furnished, with everything you may need in your every day life. There is a lot of sunlight all day long especially in the morning: rooms are big and bright.
It's decorated with love and dedication: we bought each piece of furniture patiently, choosing and collecting them to give the apartment the cozy look it has today: an old french table in the dining area, an Italian Lazzoni Sofa in the living room that becomes an extra and very comfortable bed; (So four people in total can be in this house without any stress!)...there are a hand made desk and old stools of solid wood and steel, Thonet chairs and more...The bed is full size, very comfortable and high from the floor, with a new orthopedic mattress. Rooms are spacious and have a lot of storage space in wide closets that reach the ceiling. The kitchen has a dishwasher and is well equipped in case you like to cook, the bathroom has a bathtub.
The building is quiet, very well maintained and very clean. It is located in the heart of Lower East Side, which is one of the most charismatic spot of NYC, it is full of life with cute boutiques, a variety of nice restaurants of all price ranges and for each taste, art galleries, spas. It's 5 minutes walk from the Williamsburg bridge: just a walk over it will offer you a stunning panoramic view of Manhattan and Brooklyn and it will take you to Williamsburg and its glamorous coffee shops and artsy venues. It is a 5 minutes walk to the F subway that takes you everywhere in the city; there is also a bus one block away to Chelsea. Walking distance to Soho (15 minutes walk ), Broadway, and the East Village is just right at the corner.
This apartment is our home, we are the owners, therefore we love it and take great care of it. We'll be temporarily out of town and we are looking for people that can appreciate a nicely furnished, spotless clean house. Most of all, here you will feel at home...I am sure your experience will be great and you would like to come back.

The Neighborhood

I love this neighborhood. Is very dynamic and is changing so fast!. It's very alive and full of shops, markets and very nice restaurants. I love it especially at nite: I like to walk around with Konstantinos, go to take an ice cream at "Il Laboratorio del gelato" ( not the same as Italian ones but maybe the best u can find in New York city! ; )) ) or grab a sandwich at Katz's Delicatessen...eat at Freemans. Sunshine theater is a nice walk away and is full of cute bars speakeasy bars and there is a new traditional sake bars just around the corner! Whole food and Union market are near as well..five to 10 minutes walk...plus many other little grocery spots, one just opened in front of our building. Our buildning is in avery central location with the metro 5 min away..but home is quiet and warm. :)

  • Eva was incredibly sweet and accommodating. Her place is lovely and conveniently located. However she perhaps forgot to mention there's a new building going up and huge amount of construction work right outside her bedroom and living room. There were a number of days when we were woken early and had to leave the apartment because the noise was so intrusive. Eva was quick to respond to our concerns and offered to discount us one day, which was much appreciated. However we didn't ever get reimbursed so we were confused when asked to leave cash for the extra night we stayed. We assumed we were covered.
We seem to have upset Eva with our lack of communication. To be honest we were very busy and working and therefore unable to be as prompt with our correspondence.
The apartment was cleaned thoroughly before we left. We then inspected it a number of times to make sure we didn't leave anything behind.... So, I am shocked and appalled and deeply appologetic if truthfully there was anything unpleasant left behind by our dog.

    Response from Eva:

..It's a pity.. because we always look for having good vibes and nice experiences with our guests and our reviews state this. I am so sorry the only email I receive from Dinos is this one after months of mysterious silence.( the electrical bill was loud tho! ).
We are very busy as well with our work, but we consider respectful and responsible answering to email especially for avoiding misunderstandings, like it happened in this case.
Just a clarification needs to be made, because I don't forget to pay or to tell informations of any kind I am very precise in my responsibilities:
Unfortunately I don't have NYC jurisdiction, regardless our home is VERY quiet, we live in this home so we know this and also none of our guests ever complained.

  • This was our first trip to New York and our first experience with Airbnb and we were thrilled. The apartment was perfect, immaculately presented and extremely comfortable. Our hosts were very welcoming and always easily contactable should we have any questions. The neighbourhood was quiet with a food market within close walking distance as well as cafes and restaurants. A short walk to the subway made it readily accessible and it was easy to use. Overall we were very, very happy with our experience and would strongly recommend this apartment to travellers to New York.

  • I am a Williamsburg guy. I just moved back to the NY area from Asia and wanted to try the Lower East Side. We stayed at Eva's place for 7 weeks.

Bottom-line: we had an amazing time!

Her place is done up in such a nice way. She has hand picked every item and the apartment is full of character.

The bed is comfortable. The internet is great. The kitchen has all the utensils that you can think of.

The location is great. Just 5 min to the subway.

    Also, load of restaurants.

If you are looking for a nice place to stay, look no further. I highly recommend it.

  • I stayed in Eva's apartment for the most amazing month! The location was perfect for me - easy to get to all the best places in the city, including Brooklyn and Queens. If you're into live music, cool bars, and the non-touristy parts of the city, this is he place for you. All the best LES, SoHo, and downtown locations are nearby and the walk to Williamsburg over the bridge is wonderful. Perfect for one person with a guest or a couple. Eva is the perfect hostess who takes great care to make sure you are comfortable, but doesn't interfere with your stay. This was the ideal place for me to work and play from. I highly recommend Eva and her beautiful, comfortable apartment.

  • This is a lovely little apartment and tastefully furnished. The neighbourhood is a bit run down but has an interesting student feel to it. As a professional journalist I want to be fair in my review but also to warn future guests.
I was unfortunate to lock myself out of the apartment and when I called Eva she said the superintendent of the building had a key. He didn't. On checkout day Eva said she never leaves a key with the superintendent because "this is New York". Because there was no spare key I had to pay for the locks to be changed. I shouldn't have locked myself out but there should be a spare key in that eventuality. Why say there is a key when there is not? that's bad hosting. Eva said no one else had locked themselves out so she didn't see the need for a spare key. go figure.
Eva also said I could check out late but the cleaning lady would have to come. What she didn't say was the cleaning lady would come at 9am which means a de facto check-out at 9am while the cleaning lady cleans. No hotel would send in the cleaners at 9am and I felt this was unfair. 10 or 11 would have been reasonable. When I complained Eva said I could stay in bed while the cleaning lady cleaned! again go figure!
Also Eva needed to make two visits to the apartment while I was staying. I found it all a bit over the top as I left the apartment as I found it and was only one guest paying the price for two.
So buyer beware, nice apartment but don't expect Eva to go the extra mile. You will be on your own, and that's not nice in New York as Eva would agree.

    Response from Eva:

...After all my effort for making my guest feel comfortable until the end of his staying I was not expecting such words from him at all.I have to say, I was very surprised, because he never complained with me.Well, I believe we couldn't really communicate well .
    - KEYS: We don't leave the keys in the building for our own and our guest Safety.
My guest called me at 7.30 am in the morning from the police station!.. I was getting ready for going to work, when he called and he told me where he was, I got worried for him and I asked him why he was there and what happened?..but then, few days after he left home, he wrote me privately that maybe I got worried because I have some illegal situation going on with my apartment...how insulting.
For resolving this little key-gap, I kindly gave him two options: asking to the super if he could somehow open the door, or taking the spare keys from my mother in law home,15 minutes away from our location ."go figure" why he decided to change the lock and then complains.
    - CHECK OUT : My guest contacted me when I already had another reservation with the check in scheduled for the day he was checking out, before he booked it, I informed him about the situation and that he could stay until 2 pm but my cleaning lady was coming earlier for cleaning up. He told me it was not a problem at all. When I saw him again at our place, for taking the new pair of keys, days before his check out, I kindly remind him about the 9.00 am appointment and he told me he was completely fine!. the night before his departure I wrote him a kind remind, no answer until the morning after when he wrote that he didn't realize how early she was coming over but he was going to be up anyway..I didn't get any complaints from him and It was a little late for postponing the appointment anyway.
    - VISIT: It was one, for getting a pair of the new keys.(make new copies and bring the new spare key to my mother in law home) before going home to meet him I asked him if he was OK to meet up.He never complained or talk about the lock!!. "... go figure!!"

    - All my other reviews are affirming which kind of hosts we are and this one is affirming that we are not an hotel, very true!..( but even there I am respectful of people working for my stay ). AirBnB is a community, this is why I like it and this is why I rent my home: because is above all a great experience, and it is so far, I am meeting really great people.
I like to share my home with respectful, responsible and honest people, so "hosts be aware!" if you are not such people please don't bother to contact us.

  • The apartment itself is larger than it looks in the pictures, and is very bright, and wonderfully decorated in a nice new building with aircon. The location is fantastic, with many cool bars, coffee shops, restaurants and shops nearby, and the subway just a couple of minutes walk away offering quick connections to all of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The apartment is close to the Williamsburg bridge so you can also walk over to experience the shopping & nightlife just across the river.

Eva was friendly and helpful throughout, and very flexible around key collection (we didn't arrive until after midnight!) and checkout.

I would highly recommend Eva's apartment to anyone visiting Manhattan, you will not be disappointed!

  • I stayed at Eva's place and it was amazing! Lots of natural light and very spacious. Lots of room. Very close to all the great restaurants and shops on the LES not to mention very close proximity to the subway. Great area. Close to Brooklyn also. The place is very clean, the shower was great. Eva was extremely helpful and was always happy to help whenever I needed anything or had any questions. I felt very comfortable in Eva's place, it felt like I was staying in my own home. I had a great stay in New York City. I highly highly recommend any traveller staying in Eva's place. Great hospitality!!!

  • Eva was a wonderful host from day one! She was helpful throughout the entire booking process and warm and welcoming on my arrival. She answered all my questions quickly and was always extremely helpful. Her place is perfect for a stay in NYC, Eva has styled it so it has a great feel and you will feel at home straight away. It's location is convenient and close to all the action of the Lower East Side. The building has a laundry and is really secure. Thanks Eva, I hope to be back soon.

About
This is Eva and Konstantinos We grew up in Europe, Eva is from Sardegna, Italy and Konstantinos is from Athens, Greece, we met here in NY where we fell in love and got married. We are architects. We are both very solar people, very active, we like sports especially if its related to the sea, like swimming and sailing. We enjoy staying at home as well, we don't watch TV but we read a lot of books and comics. Sometimes Eva paints while Konstantinos is reading or playing with Tuli our cat. Sometimes we just like to watch a nice movie on stream or we like to have nice dinners at home with our friends and families and in those occasions we love cooking for them.
