Located in the heart of beautiful Balboa Island this charming beach cottage is a two-minute stroll to the bay and a three minute ferry ride to the ocean. I am about 15 minutes from John Wayne Airport and about the same to get to the 405 freeway. There is usually parking on the street which is narrow by most peoples standards but still doable. If you can't find parking on the street, I have an extra space behind my garage. All parking on the Island is free. Sorry, NO CHILDREN or PETS. Light breakfast provided. Starbucks within walking distance or a quick golf cart ride.
Balboa Island is an idyllic place pulled straight out of a travel magazine. Walk to the beach, have dinner by the bay, go fishing, rent a kayak or a electric duffy boat, take a stroll along the boardwalk, 2 1/2 miles completely around the island makes for a fabulous walk morning or evening. Check out the Island homes and lovely gardens. Go surfing, enjoy the restaurant at the end of the pier, play games at the "fun-zone," or take a ferris wheel ride to see the view or just sit out on the patio with a drink and enjoy the sunshine or sunset.
It's a beautiful, peaceful little spot of paradise with access to all of the fun of Southern California.
You'll be staying in my guest room on the first floor. It has a new, queen-size bed. You'll have your own private bathroom connected directly to the room access to living room and patio. The house has Wi-Fi. No TV in the room but one in the family room for viewing. No cable though but local channels and PBS.
I take pride in my home, keeping it immaculate, and I ask that you please be respectful as you would of your own mother's home (or maybe, more appropriately, of someone else's mother's home).
Please pick up after yourself and be mindful of the carpets. Rinse off sand if you are coming in from the beach. No smoking. No pets. No children.
Have a wonderful visit on Balboa Island for yet another day of paradise.
Linda was an amazing host. She greeted us when we arrived and made us feel welcome in her lovely Balboa Island home. Our room and attached bathroom was very comfortable and clean.
We will be staying with Linda again in the future.
We had a great time visiting Balboa Island. Linda was great and welcoming host! The room was very nice with a wonderful bed. We we're wecolme to use the beautiful front porch for breakfast and to relax after a long day in the sun. This is the perfect place for your stay at Balboa Island. Just a few minutes to the Ferry to the Balboa Pavillion.
We visited Linda's fantastic place last week and have to say thank you for the wonderfull time that we had there! Linda is a great host and we enjoied our stay to the maximum. Definately we'll be back when we are in the USA again!
Lots of greetings from Italy!
Linda was wonderful, the house was wonderful, and the island is wonderful. We had a great time with such a good hostess. Having her place as a quiet and relaxing retreat during our stay was a true highlight.
Our host, Linda Wood, was very personable. We had many conversations with her that were most enjoyable. She also was very helpful in guiding us to a first class experience. The listing was right on and was not disappointing. The cottage itself was most comfortable and very well appointed. The neighborhood was lovely and our walks revealed beautiful cottage homes with unbelievably elegant gardens full of the most beautiful flowers, especially roses of every color. Most importantly, our accommodations were everything that we would have expected from the pictures - and more.
My wife and I were looking for a quiet, convenient and affordable place to really enjoy the Balboa experience and Linda's place really fit the bill! Her room and bathroom are clean, comfortable and modern. Linda worked with us to make our arrival and stay easy and enjoyable. We had the use of her deck on the street out front as well as living room and kitchen. She was an absolute delight and we talked at length over a delightful light breakfast. Balboa is a wonderful and unique place. If you really want to enjoy it you really should stay on the island rather than a hotel somewhere else.
Not only is Balboa charming and wonderful, Linda is as well! The home is idyllic, clean, and very well designed.
We adore Linda and will make this our place to stay every time we come back. She is like family to us now!
Active lady and 40 year Island resident. Very familiar with the area, local restaurants. Know most of my neighbors and enjoy meeting new people. I work on and off the Island, love my daily walks on the boardwalk. Can't wait for a lovely warm & sunny day to kayak the bay or bike to Huntington Beach. I am outgoing but also respect and appreciate quiet time.
