About this listing
Located in the heart of beautiful Balboa Island this charming beach cottage is a two-minute stroll to the bay and a three minute ferry ride to the ocean. I am about 15 minutes from John Wayne Airport and about the same to get to the 405 freeway. There is usually parking on the street which is narrow by most peoples standards but still doable. If you can't find parking on the street, I have an extra space behind my garage. All parking on the Island is free. Sorry, NO CHILDREN or PETS. Light breakfast provided. Starbucks within walking distance or a quick golf cart ride.
Balboa Island is an idyllic place pulled straight out of a travel magazine. Walk to the beach, have dinner by the bay, go fishing, rent a kayak or a electric duffy boat, take a stroll along the boardwalk, 2 1/2 miles completely around the island makes for a fabulous walk morning or evening. Check out the Island homes and lovely gardens. Go surfing, enjoy the restaurant at the end of the pier, play games at the "fun-zone," or take a ferris wheel ride to see the view or just sit out on the patio with a drink and enjoy the sunshine or sunset.
It's a beautiful, peaceful little spot of paradise with access to all of the fun of Southern California.
You'll be staying in my guest room on the first floor. It has a new, queen-size bed. You'll have your own private bathroom connected directly to the room access to living room and patio. The house has Wi-Fi. No TV in the room but one in the family room for viewing. No cable though but local channels and PBS.
I take pride in my home, keeping it immaculate, and I ask that you please be respectful as you would of your own mother's home (or maybe, more appropriately, of someone else's mother's home).
Please pick up after yourself and be mindful of the carpets. Rinse off sand if you are coming in from the beach. No smoking. No pets. No children.
Have a wonderful visit on Balboa Island for yet another day of paradise.
Linda is a warm, engaging hostess who keeps a clean and comfortable home that is well located to Main Street and the ferry. She is a great example of why Airbnb is a wonderful way to travel.
My wife Marissa and I had a wonderful time at Linda's home. She was a very gracious host and gave us many great tips for things to do on Balboa Island! Her fruit spread and coffee cakes was a great way to start the day off. I would love to come back to this part of southern California, and I would definitely consider staying at Linda's beautiful home again!!!
Linda made me very welcome. She sent me very helpful emails before I arrived. Lovely home, front porch to hang out on, great neighborhood.
Coffee in am, she is a very active kayaker, swimmer, bicylist with all sorts of stories of her adventures. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Linda greeted us when we arrived and was very welcoming. She gave us suggestions on where to go for dinner, and things to do in the area, she even offered us an extra blanket after we mentioned we weren't used to the cold weather! The room was just like the photos, nice size, private, and comfortable. Located in a nice area on balboa, walking distance to downtown and the ferry. We loved staying here and thankful to have had such an inviting host!
We had such a wonderful time the house was so well appointed with everything beach. The room was welcoming and comfortable. Linda was helpful in area suggestions for dining and activities. We loved tea outside on the patio in the morning. We will be back again. So restful.

About the Host, Linda
Active lady and 40 year Island resident. Very familiar with the area, local restaurants. Know most of my neighbors and enjoy meeting new people. I work on and off the Island, love my daily walks on the boardwalk. Can't wait for a lovely warm & sunny day to kayak the bay or bike to Huntington Beach. I am outgoing but also respect and appreciate quiet time.
