Beautiful sun swept home on quiet street near Children's Hospital in Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh. Walking distance to Children's Hospital, West Penn, Lawrenceville, Bloomfield proper, Friendship, a short bus ride (10-15 minutes) from downtown (bus stop is on corner a 2 minute walk from house) and all other areas of Pittsburgh.
You'd be renting 1 bedroom in the house, it has a new queen size bed, retro feeling dresser, night stand, and desk. View from window is of our neighbors ivy covered home, very garden feeling. We are now offering coffee and tea in room for your convenience, as well as water, towels/wash cloths. The bedroom is on the second floor conveniently next to the bathroom. The first floor features full living room, dining room, and kitchen, all which you may use should you stay here. Outside we have a small yard and garden with outdoor seating to hang out or eat a meal.
We offer free wifi throughout the property and we don't have premium cable we do have local stations and we do have access to netflix, hulu+, on our living room flatscreen tv to meet your TV needs.
Bringing a car? no problem, our street has on street parking and we have a visitor permit you can use for your stay. Just let us know!
Your hosts are Mary and Megan. Mary works from home so is most always available should you need something last minute, she loves to travel, meet new people, and have adventures. Megan is a 33 year old medical student who just moved to Pittsburgh from California. We are both very easy going and love sharing our wonderful house with travelers of different backgrounds. We both love travel, great food, and good conversation. We can point you in the direction of some of the best foods and sights in town and would be glad to help you have a wonderful stay in Pittsburgh.
****Please note we do have one small dog named Pepper, she is a 20lb boston terrier pug, but does not have access to your room, she is our house mascot as well as just a great well tempered dog. Your room is kept pet free but the downstairs does sometimes have a sleeping dog sitting on a couch trying to watch TV with you and cuddle. Also Megan (who lives on the third floor) has a cat, Chicken, who lives up there with her- if you are extremely allergic I would advise against, but she does not have access to the rest of the house, just the third floor********
Locationally we are walking distance to several great restaurants and bars, plenty to do so please just ask and we'd be happy to advise on our favorite places!
Around the corner is a cute little cafe called Cafe Mona where you can get some coffee and even breakfast. (2 minutes walking)
We are right around the corner from Brillobox, a great late night hang for dinner, drinks, and a series of bands and comedy acts that come through. A good time for sure.
We are 'up the hill' from Lawrenceville which is a very happening part of Pittsburgh, tons of restaurants, bars, and stores. We are around the corner from Liberty Ave in Bloomfield which also houses great bars and restaurants including great sushi (Ginza or Fukuda), Thai (thai cuisine), Froyo, and polish food/dive bars (bloomfield bridge tavern). There's always something going on nearby.
Each first Friday of the month there is an art gallery crawl on Penn ave starting just a few blocks from our home, it's a great opportunity to get out and see art and meet people.
We're super flexible so if you need something just let us know! We look forward to your stay with us!
Mary was generous and helpful, she provided everything as possible as she could in order to give me a great experience. unfortunately the refrigerator broke down during my stay so i was not able to make some food there, but still a nice stay, thank you Mary!
I arrived fairly late for my single night stay with Mary - got to the apartment just after 11pm and left at 7am. While Mary was away, her friend kindly let me into the apartment, and texted me directions from the bus terminal. The location was great - a cheap $10 cab ride, and the cab driver had little trouble finding the place with the directions provided. The place was extremely quiet, aside from a neighbours alarm clock ringing repetitively, but briefly at 7am (nothing Mary could have controlled - and we all have a hard time getting up on Monday mornings!- I'm also a very light sleeper, so I'm sure the noise wouldn't disturb many others). Overall, it was exactly what I needed for a short stay in the city.
Mary's apartment is in a good location in terms of walking to bars/restaurants Mary was very hands off and provided good maps, guides so you can figure out the neighborhood independently. The room was comfortable and had what I needed.
My first experience with airbnb was a very good one. Mary and her friends were really easy to communicate with and patient with my brother and I coming in very late. Thanks Mary! The room was great with lots of maps and research pamphlets of Pitts, extra blankets, and a basket of things like toothpaste and shampoos in case you forgot something. The bed was really comfortable. Highly recommended.
Mary was a great host and very accommodating of the strange comings and goings of me and my girlfriend (we had to arrive late on the first day and left very early on our check out). The house was easy to find and in the perfect location for a weekend trip to Pittsburgh. There are nice coffee shops and an extremely friendly bar scene around the corner - just ask Mary, she's more than happy to let you know what is happening in the area.
As the ad states, the room is very cozy for two people, and Mary has set it up to be the ideal guest room. She's stocked the room with travel guide books, city and biking maps, and even a in-room coffee maker (I mean, who needs a hotel with host like these!) If my girlfriend an I find ourselves back in Pittsburgh again, we'll definitely try to stay here.
Mary was an excellent host. She was very easy to talk to and was an excellent source of information on the city. The room was decked out with helpful Pittsburgh related literature and maps. She really has this airbnb thing down and I'd definitely stay again.
Mary was a great host, always responding quickly to all communications. The room is pleasant and the bed very comfortable. The neighborhood is not fancy, but safe and accessible to public transportation and restaurants.
Great host. Great room. Really close to the Children's Hospital so if you're planning on visiting it, this is a great option.
Mary was such a great hostess! It was nice to sit and talk with her about Pittsburgh- she is so enthusiastic about the city and even has little maps and guidebooks in the room to help you figure out where to go! The dog Pepper is ridiculously friendly and adorable. Overall, I'm very glad I came through and I'd definitely use her airbnb again if I ever came back!
