Our cozy sunny one bedroom with bright spacious feel offers a great Pittsburgh experience. It comfortably fits 2, featuring a new queen bed and free on street parking. We are centrally located in the charming neighborhood of Bloomfield.
This bright single bedroom in a sun swept home right in the heart of Bloomfield is available for you and a friend. We are on a quiet street near Children's Hospital in Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh. If you aren't familiar with PGH, Bloomfield is one of the most central locations.
We host up to 2 people comfortably. The room is quite spacious and has retro accents throughout. The room has a sort of garden retro vibe that we've been told is quite calming.
You'd be renting 1 bedroom in the house, it is on the second floor, it has a new queen size bed, retro feeling dresser, night stand, and desk. View from window is of our neighbors ivy covered home, very garden feeling. We offer coffee and tea in room for your convenience, as well as water, towels/wash cloths. We also have a little basket full of random things you might have forgotten: (shampoo/toothpaste/etc)
The bedroom is on the second floor conveniently next to the bathroom (which is shared but our schedules are often very different than our guests).
The first floor features full living room, dining room, and kitchen, all which you may use should you stay here. Outside we have a small yard and garden with outdoor seating to hang out or eat a meal. You are welcome to share this floor with us if you like!
We offer free wifi throughout the property and we have basic cable, netflix, hulu+, on our living room flatscreen tv to meet your TV needs.
Should you require it our basement has a washer and dryer that you are free to use, just let Mary or Megan know!
We are always around if you need us, but we tend to let you explore the city as you like, so if you like to be left alone, we will leave you alone, if you want to chat about the area or grab a beer, we'd love to do that too! If we are out of town or away from the house when you want to check in we will let you know ahead of time and try to coordinate your check in with a trusted friend.
Your hosts are Mary and Megan. Mary works from home so is most always available should you need something last minute, she loves to travel, meet new people, and have adventures. Megan is a 33 year old medical student who just moved to Pittsburgh from California. We are both very easy going and love sharing our wonderful house with travelers of different backgrounds. We both love travel, great food, and good conversation. We can point you in the direction of some of the best foods and sights in town and would be glad to help you have a wonderful stay in Pittsburgh.
****Please note we do have one small dog named Pepper, she is a 20lb boston terrier pug, but does not have access to your room, she is our house mascot as well as just a great well tempered dog. Your room is kept pet free but the downstairs does sometimes have a sleeping dog sitting on a couch trying to watch TV with you and cuddle. Also Megan (who lives on the third floor) has a cat, Chicken, who lives up there with her- if you are extremely allergic I would advise against, but she does not have access to the rest of the house, just the third floor********
Locationally we are in a very central area of Pittsburgh. We are walking distance to several great restaurants and bars, plenty to do so please just ask and we'd be happy to advise on our favorite places!
Around the corner is a cute little cafe called Cafe Mona where you can get some coffee and even breakfast. (2 minutes walking)
We are right around the corner from Brillobox, a great late night hang for dinner, drinks, and a series of bands and comedy acts that come through. A good time for sure.
We are 'up the hill' from Lawrenceville which is a very happening part of Pittsburgh, tons of restaurants, bars, and stores. We are around the corner from Liberty Ave in Bloomfield which also houses great bars and restaurants including great sushi (Ginza or Fukuda), Thai (thai cuisine), Froyo, and polish food/dive bars (bloomfield bridge tavern). There's always something going on nearby.
We are a short bus ride from Oakland or Downtown, feel free to ask us if you need help getting around!
Each first Friday of the month there is an art gallery crawl on Penn ave starting just a few blocks from our home, it's a great opportunity to get out and see art and meet people.
We are in between Penn and Liberty which most major bus lines run along. From downtown the 88/87/86 will get you there, but if you search for Pittsburgh port authority they have easy trip planners.
Driving and parking is easy, we have a guest pass that will allow you to park right outside the house. Please let us know if you are driving so we have the permit ready.
Superb location and got everything needed in the room. Thanks for hosting me!
Mary is a great host and the facilities are as described. Very clean, neat and well organised. Parking was no problem, as Mary was happy to lend me the use of a guest pass for on-street parking. Mary had prepared an information pack with lots of useful information about local attractions. I was happy with the arrangements and would likely stay there if I have the opportunity to visit Pittsburgh again.
I loved staying here! Mary was very friendly and prompt with her communication. The room was super comfortable and the ability to make tea and coffee in the room was a luxury I took full advantage of! I needed nothing that I didn't have there. Next time I'm in Pittsburgh, I will stay there for sure! Thanks again, Mary.
Mary has been a great host!!! She was helpful when I needed it and I felt really welcome. The room is great, the bed is very comfortable, water, tea and coffee is available in the room. I had a great time!! Thank you Mary!!
Quick trip to Pittsburgh and Mary's home was ideal. The layout was perfect for going in and out without feeling like we were intruding. Room was basic and easily met our needs. Mary was available and helpful, but not intrusive. Coffee and tea in the room was also a nice touch. Good visit!
Staying with Mary was an excellent experience! The place was immaculate, the hosts were friendly and accommodating, and my friend and I had a great time in Pittsburgh. The helped point us to fun places and gave us tips for getting around the city. If you want to visit, you'll have a hard time doing better than here.
Mary was generous and helpful, she provided everything as possible as she could in order to give me a great experience. unfortunately the refrigerator broke down during my stay so i was not able to make some food there, but still a nice stay, thank you Mary!
I arrived fairly late for my single night stay with Mary - got to the apartment just after 11pm and left at 7am. While Mary was away, her friend kindly let me into the apartment, and texted me directions from the bus terminal. The location was great - a cheap $10 cab ride, and the cab driver had little trouble finding the place with the directions provided. The place was extremely quiet, aside from a neighbours alarm clock ringing repetitively, but briefly at 7am (nothing Mary could have controlled - and we all have a hard time getting up on Monday mornings!- I'm also a very light sleeper, so I'm sure the noise wouldn't disturb many others). Overall, it was exactly what I needed for a short stay in the city.
Mary's apartment is in a good location in terms of walking to bars/restaurants Mary was very hands off and provided good maps, guides so you can figure out the neighborhood independently. The room was comfortable and had what I needed.
My first experience with airbnb was a very good one. Mary and her friends were really easy to communicate with and patient with my brother and I coming in very late. Thanks Mary! The room was great with lots of maps and research pamphlets of Pitts, extra blankets, and a basket of things like toothpaste and shampoos in case you forgot something. The bed was really comfortable. Highly recommended.
