Behind the house is a separate guest cottage, 1 bdrm, 1 bath cottage that has its own entrance and complete privacy. Luxury shower, bamboo floors, queen sized bed, desk, WIFI, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. Located in French Place neighborhood near campus and very central. Walk to coffee shop, grocery, liquor store and bus lines - all only two blocks away. I love to give tips on where to eat and what to see. I think you will find this a very charming spot to stay in Austin!
Not only is the cottage all your own with complete privacy and not attached, but I offer complete autonomy, if you will, for those of you coming in late or leaving early or whatever, I make it so that we don't have to coordinate schedules and anything works that you need. I will work with you on check in and out times according to the cottage's schedule, and have never had a problem. Most people love the ease of the place and how close it is to coffee shops, downtown, the Eastside's hip restaurants/nightlife, and the university. But, they also like that is in a neighborhood that's quiet and peaceful. Plus parking is plentiful on the street with no restrictions (which can be difficult in some areas of town).
We hope you will stay in the cottage and enjoy the best of Austin!
Interaction with Guests
I usually do not see my guests much, but am available to solve concerns if needed. I try to stay out of each other's way and am pretty busy with other things in my life.
Other Things to Note
The Operating License for Short Term Rentals is:
Smoking is only allowed outside, where an ash can is provided.
The cottage was delightful and the neighborhood charming. Private and peaceful, it was also very convenient to downtown. Everything was just as described and very clean. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and stay here again, a great alternative to a predictable hotel room!
This space was exactly what we needed during our visit to Austin. Great location, beautiful space and so easy to find. We loved how low key the process was and how easy it was to come and go. I highly recommend this spot to anyone needing a comfy place to lay their heads while taking in all of the fun Austin has to offer.
Sara provides all details as soon as you book the room. I never met her but she was quick to respond to any texts.
The little cottage was clean and has a private entrance. There is a convenient 24 hour La Fiesta Mart at the end of her street.
I would recommend staying here if you want to be in a quiet, tree lined area, with friendly neighbours and convenient free parking. Within an easy drive to downtown and close to a major highway.
Sara provides all details as soon as you book the room. The little cottage was clean and we had a private entrance and the back yard. We enjoyed the book collection and as it was our first time in austin we appreciated the travel guides. Public transport was not an issue and we loved the cherrywood cafe and the La Fiesta Mart which is open 24 hours in case of emergency purchases (a 3 min walk away).
Would recommend staying here if you want to be in a quiet and beautiful area, with friendly neighbours, and to relax in the garden.
I never met Sara. The only communication was text messages wanting to know whether we could leave early on thanksgiving so it could be cleaned for next guests. Perhaps she was gone.
The house was in a quiet backyard with trees, close to my daughter and the cherrywood coffeehouse where we went everyday. The bed was really really comfortable.
The only problems we had were an electric plug near the bed that didn't work and the refrigerator froze all our food even tho it was turned down low.
Sara's place was exactly as it was described. Very basic, but with exactly what you need for a few nights. A perfect little writing retreat if you need one & the neighborhood was very quiet!
Excellent accommodations and very easy to coordinate with Sara. Would definitely come back.

I'm a native Austinite, but moved back after being gone for over ten years, via New York and California. I love all the things to do in Austin and love people to come share in the coolness of our town.
