We love hiking; let us know if you want some area recommendations.
We’re empty nesters, have lived in the area most of our lives, and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the area or provide recommendations. This is an ideal set-up for an out-of-towner wanting to spend time with friends or family in the area.

I had a perfect stay at the tree-top studio. It was extremely safe, spotless and cozy. A lovely place to stay. The hostess answered my every need and was such a sweet knowledgeable person about the area. Her studio kitchen was well equipped and the bed and beddings heavenly. The view and windows were especially private, high up and I loved watching the sun rise and the sun set over the many beautiful trees on her property. It was in a very safe neighborhood and within a few minutes walk to lovely restaurants, a yoga studio and a coffee shop as well as about a 20 minute walk to Stanford and their elite shopping mall which included a farmer's market! I would love to stay at this perfect spot again!!
Laurel was a great host. I loved the studio and hope to return. Thank you!
I felt very welcomed by my host Laurel. Being my first airbnb experience she went out of her way to explain how the process worked and her communication via email, text and phone was extremely fast and clear.
The property was a joy to be in. It was exactly as described, actually better than the pictures and description. Literally being among trees was very private and peaceful. The studio had everything I needed to be totally sell-sufficient, including coffee to get me going and all the condiments I needed. The bathroom, although a bit on the small side, was extremely clean with large fluffy towels, plenty of shampoo and conditioner and even a small toothpaste and brush. Those 3 oz. bottles to get through security don't go very far.
All the appliances worked, ventilation was good with the large windows and all the pull down shades gave me plenty of privacy. Although it was quite bright in the morning even with the shades pulled down. So if you want to sleep in, I brought a sleeping mask that worked like a charm. And the bed was very comfortable with a nice cozy down quilt, pillows were high quality foam along with comfy hi quality sheets.
The neighborhood was quiet as described and very convenient to shopping in Palo Alto, I 280, and a large variety of food and restaurants with 5 minuets drive time. I appreciated the on property parking right outside my private entrance.
I didn't spend a lot of time with my host because everything worked and the studio came with a detailed manual of contents, instructions and local recommendations. Although I did ask for a restaurant recommendation with specific requests and got 5 places within minutes of asking. The one I chose was perfect for what I needed.
I will return next time I visit my family. For the first time airbnb-er, I couldn't ask for a more perfect stay.
Thank you Laurel for making me feel so at home for the week I stayed.

We received a warm welcome and Laurel went out of her way to let us check-in a couple of hours early. Detailed instructions about how to get to Laurel's studio, restaurants and other services nearby, public transportation and even airport transfer information was sent to us days earlier. A copy of all the necessary information was also in the unit we rented. Better than most hotels we have been to!
When we had a question about a problem we had concerning a car we needed to leave behind for a time Laurel provided the answer and was extremely helpful and generous with her advice. I hope we get the chance to return for another visit.
I came to Stanford for major surgery and had trouble finding available and affordable housing, understandably, for my extreme situation. Laurel and Steve were so helpful to me with hospitality and receiving packages and deliveries. The apartment could not have been more perfect and well equipped for a six week stay requiring alot of privacy to deal with recovery issues. Their kindness in taking a surgical patient with a breathing disability also says so much. I am always worried about public reviews but I had such a perfect experience here, and I was blown away by their personal acceptance of my situation, which most people feel really uncomfortable with since it's so hard to explain. I'm truly grateful there are people like this in the world because insurance does not provide housing and a hotel would have been a lot less homey and comfortable. Thank you!!!

About the Host, Laurel
My husband Steve and I are long-time local residents; I was born in Palo Alto, so a real native! Steve is from England; we were high-school sweethearts (his dad was at SLAC for a year), then we reconnected 20+ years later & got married! Now we're empty nesters with 4 kids in our blended family, all living in California. We have a successful home-based marketing agency, so we’re around most of the time for your convenience and security.
We love hosting and also traveling-- to my husband's native UK (lots of family & friends still there). Have been to China, Cuba, and much of western Europe. Hoping to travel more in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
In the US, we love road trip in the Western state (our Tesla is our biggest splurge!), and exploring big cities, especially NYC & LA.Our favorite trip of all was a family stay in New Orleans-- fabulous music, food, history & people!
Since Airbnb is asking, the "5 things we can't live without" are (not necessarily in this order): movies (Laurel) & music (Steve), exercise, NPR (Laurel) & BBC (Steve), our kids & cats.
We are Michael Pollan converts and think his 7-word food philosophy sums it up beautifully: "eat food (as opposed to food-like products), not too much, mostly plants." We buy local, sustainable, organic as much as we can.
