Enjoy views of the Olympic Mts., Gasworks Park, and the activity on the lake, from birds to kayaks to seaplanes. Our village-like neighborhood lies in between Downtown and the University. Welcome to our light and airy "Sky Cabin" in the heart of the city and overlooking Lake Union, where the film Sleepless in Seattle was made. The 700 sq. ft. Sky Cabin, ideal for two people, is a separate apartment on the top floor of our three story house built in 1912, but the Sky Cabin itself was added on only six years ago. It has cork floors and warm, birch wood paneling, making it feel like a cabin in the sky. The wall of windows faces West with views onto Lake Union, the Olympic Mountains, and even a small view of the Space Needle. There is a master bedroom, a large bathroom with three shower heads and a heated tile floor, an open living space/kitchen with 13 ft. tall cathedral ceilings, and another small room for doing yoga, exercising, or just meditating while looking out to the lake. It is extremely quiet and peaceful, with skylights that let in plenty of light. The deck is perfect for watching the kayaks, sailboats, paddle boards, sea planes, tug boats, and floating homes that make Eastlake such a unique and special neighborhood. The Sky Cabin is decorated in a mid century style with comfortable furniture and feels cozy and cheerful. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking, and there are two televisions and one dvd player. Wi-Fi is included. There is free street parking half a block away in either direction from our house, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance as well as easy bus access to either downtown or the university. We are 5-10 minutes by car to both downtown and the university and 10-20 minutes by bus, depending on traffic. In the Sky Cabin I have Seattle and Washington state guide books and maps for people to use while they are here, as well as various board games for those nights you just want to stay in. My 86 year old mother lives in the apartment below and you will perhaps occasionally hear her playing the piano. She is very sweet and helpful if you need anything or have any questions. Come and enjoy this peaceful, light and happy place in the heart of Seattle!
No pets, no drugs, no children, must be at least 21 years of age, and no smoking inside or out.
Access is to the apartment only.
Interaction with Guests
We respect peoples' privacy, so unless you have questions or need help, we leave you to enjoy the apartment on your own.
Eastlake is a very quiet, hidden little neighborhood in between the University and Downtown. We are on the shores of Lake Union where Boeing had his very first hangar and that is now home to seaplanes, kayaks, paddle boards, and floating homes. There is a great selection of local restaurants to choose from all within walking distance of our house, as well as a local mini supermarket with one of the best wine selections in Seattle. We have lived in Eastlake for forty years and love it!
Getting to and from Downtown and the University is easy, as there is a bus stop around the corner that will get you to either one within 15-20 minutes.
Other Things to Note
There are 15 steps up to the Sky Cabin, so sound hearts and legs are recommended! The apartment is not child proofed, and the 15 stairs are inside the apartment with no gate at the top of the stairs.
No pets, must be at least 21 years of age, no drugs and no smoking, even outside on the deck. Since there are other people living in the apartments below, we also ask that you please respect the peaceful nature of this house and neighborhood. No loud music or talking on cell phones outside (we will hear everything you say!). The apartment has cork floors, so our preference is that you remove shoes, especially high heels. There are electric baseboard heaters as well as one portable heater, so please be careful about not placing anything in front or on top of these as it could be a fire hazard. Close and lock all windows and doors whenever leaving the apartment, please. Thank you!
Open living area with books, board games, television, dvd player, and information on Seattle.
