Harbor view with yummy breakfast!!

House - Private room · Dyrehavevej, Nyborg, Syddanmark 5800, Denmark

Charming home across from the harbor and close to downtown where you will find both shopping and an old castle. Nyborg is conveniently located in Denmark, and is a perfect layover stop in between Germany and Sweden or a great location in between Copenhagen and Odense.

Charming home across from the harbor and close to downtown where you will find both shopping and an old castle. Nyborg is conveniently located in Denmark, and is a perfect layover stop in between Germany and Sweden or a great location in between Copenhagen and Odense.

The Space

Our home is over 100 years old. It is spacious with high ceilings and an open floor plan. There is lots of light! We are very close to the center of town too so it is easy to walk to both the castle and to shopping. Right across the street is the harbor which makes for a lovely stroll. There is only one private bedroom available where 2 guests can fit comfortably as well as a couple of children can lay on mattresses on the floor. There is only one double bed for 2 people but we could also set up mattresses in a private area of the dining room if desired, so all the guests have their own space. Up to 5 guests have been here and have been happy with the accommodations, just be aware there is only one bedroom and one official bed. The living room is essentially yours as our family's living space is upstairs. We only share the kitchen and dining area at meal times. We can be around as much or as little as you are comfortable with.

Guest Access

The guests will have access and run of the entire first floor where there is a kitchen. The upper floor is where our family lives and sleeps so that is off limits. Guests are welcome to use all the dishes and kitchen gadgets in it. We hope that you feel at home here. There is wifi, a cozy living room with a flat screen television and there is a lot of privacy since we live mainly upstairs. The guests also have their own spacious bathroom with shower. Fresh linens, towels, soap, shampoo and a hair dryer are also provided along with a scrumptious breakfast :). Parking is ample so you never have to worry about that.

Interaction with Guests

We interact as much as the you would like. Your area is quite private and we try to be very aware of our guests need for privacy or need for communication. We are finding that each guest is different in that respect. Feel free to sign our guest book before you leave. We love to hear how you enjoyed your stay with us and it is great memories for us to read back at all the lovely people who have been to our home..

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is very old with the houses having lots of character. Most homes were built over 100 years ago. It is right across from the harbor and about 5 minutes walk from the center of town. Every house in our area has a name which is so charming. Our house is named Xenia which means welcome in Greek. In Nyborg you will find beautiful beaches, and the forest. It used to be the capital of Denmark before Copenhagen so there is a very old and very beautiful castle in the center of town. Actually we have 2 castles. Holckehavn castle is located on the way out of town on the way to Svenborg. It is also an extremely beautiful and well cared for castle. Nyborg is one of the bigger, smaller cities in Denmark conveniently located very close to Odense, only a 14 minute train ride away. It is a quiet town but a charming one.

Getting around

There are both buses and a train station in Nyborg. We are a short 20 minute walk from the station if you don't have a car and the bus to Svendborg from the train station stops right outside our home. Copenhagen's main train station is only an hour and 15 minute train ride away and Odense center is only a 14 minute ride :) We a have bike shed in the backyard and ample free and safe street parking available for cars and motorcycles.

Other Things to Note

No hidden fees for cleaning or security deposits :)!!! We do live on a busy street so if you have the windows open in the Summer, traffic can be quite loud in the morning. Our windows do block out most of the noise when they are closed. One window doesn't have blinds but we can easily put a sheet up over the window if you want to sleep in, just let us know. Denmark is really light in the Summer with the sun going down as late as 11:30 at night and coming up as early as 3:30 in the morning and the opposite in Winter. We do our best to make you feel at home.

  • Lara is a warm, friendly and welcoming host, basically welcoming you into her own life and home. Very quick in responding on messages made it very easy to plan ahead and get there on a good time. We only stayed for a night as we were only driving through Nyborg, but had a good experience with that, and even got time to look at some of the jewelry she´s making and having some interesting conversations :) As others visitors have pointed out, you basically have a floor for yourself, plus a spacious bedroom. Some noise from passing cars during the night, but nothing really annoying. And of course - a good and yummy breakfast - with pancakes, cereals, youghurt, coffee, tea, juice, etc :) Recommended!

  • I truly great place to stay - lots of bright, airy, space, close to the harbour front and the town centre and, not the least, a friendly and fun host who made me feel welcome in her home. Highly recommended.

  • It was a wonderful short vacation. Had a great time and enjoyed it to the fullest...both and their children are very heartful people. They had a lot of tips for beautiful things to see, loved to talk to them and play with the cute kids.
Really hope to see them soon.

  • We were very warmly welcomed by Lara and her family. We had a absolutely pleasant time there although our stay was booked very spontaneously. Check in and Check out was very flexible. My son approves the yummy breakfast, so do I. We loved the delicious crêpes and lovely baked goods. We traveled by train and bus. Connections to several parts of Denmark are good from Nyborg, which is a nice little town. Lara and Lars' house is in walking distance from the train station and not far away is a small, sandy beach. If we ever visit denmark again, it's good to know a lovely place to stay. Thank you!
