About the neighborhood:
Why we love it-
Lakeview is a beautiful neighborhood with lush tree lined streets, historic million dollar homes, and lots of young families. Pretend you’re a local by spending time walking around the area parks, boutiques, brunch joints (Kanel, Bakin’& Eggs) coffee shops, and amazing restaurants with dining deals every night!
Speaking of the nightlife-vibrant bars with wonderful craft beers, (Ten Cat, NorthDown) happening live music venues (Uncommon Ground, Schuba’s, Metro, Lincoln Hall), comedy clubs (Chemically Imbalanced, IO Theater), catch indie and foreign films (The Landmark Century Centre Cinema, The MusicBox or Brew and View at the Vic) award winning performing arts (Athenaeum, Apollo, TimeLine, Playground) makes this an ideal location.
Not to mention Chicago’s sporting events-Wrigley Field is within walking distance and the home of the Bulls and Blackhawks (United Center) as well as White Sox’s Cellular Field is a quick trip on public transit!
With twenty-four hour trains, some overnight bus services, and plenty of taxis, transportation in and around the city is fast and easy- even to and from Midway and O’Hare Airport!
Enjoy Lake Michigan’s Lakefront, with a 22 mile stretch of bike and running path. Don’t forget to sink your toes in the sand, visit the fun bars and maybe join a game of volleyball at North, Oak, Ohio and Montrose Beaches. The free Lincoln Park Zoo and Nature Museum are close by and great for a family-fun weekend.
After dark when the "Loop" and downtown sites are desolate, the work day is over and the sidewalks roll up at 6pm, take an opportunity to enjoy the uniqueness of one of the best North side neighborhoods. Take a break and unwind from your conference or convention at McCormick Place.
Stroll along Lincoln, Clark and Belmont Avenue's or over to Roscoe Village to enjoy our local stores and vintage shops.
Just a few blocks away, check out the up and coming Southport Corridor and Music Box Theater.

We’ve got it all! Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Jewel Osco are just a quick walk. (Our neighborhood has a walk score of 91)
We provide Wifi, cable TV, parking, etc.
About the transit:
Chicago's amazing public transit system and the proximity of stops to our place, makes this an ideal location to call home base when visiting the city and local attractions.
Sleep peacefully-we are close enough to the "EL" for convenience but far enough that it is a distant if unnoticeable sound.
Our clean, safe home is nestled conveniently between the Red line train (which operates 24/7) and Brown line Addison "EL" city train stops.
The Paulina brown line station is just a few short blocks along with the Southport and Addison brown line stations within 10 minutes walking distance.
The #9 (North and South) and the #152 (East and West) bus stops are at each end of our block.
About the sites:
The speedy train will have you to the steps of all area sites within minutes; such as Michigan Avenue known as Magnificent Mile for the shoppers, The Arts Institute for the largest Monet collection in the world, Museum Campus for those who wish to explore the Shedd Aquarium, Field and Science and Adler Planetarium. About the house:
This is an amazing place with lots of space! This home has 4 levels; the Penthouse level and the main level (A) which are one apartment, the middle level (B) which is its own apartment and the garden level (C) also its own apartment.
The Penthouse level, accessed by 3 flights stairs, offers two enormous rooms.
On the East side of the home, is the Master Suite with Master Bath. It offers a King Size Sleep Number bed, steam shower and private entrance from the Sky Deck. You can see why it is our primary occupancy and why we rent it only on occasion :) (pics 25, 37 and 38)
On the West side of the Penthouse level is an enormous room without shared walls for maximum privacy. This also offers an equally grand full size bathroom located just outside the bedroom door creating an environment that is nearly a Master Suite in its own right. This room can provide accommodations in a mix of real beds and air mattresses. (33, 34 and 35)
The Main level (A)-
The front door staircase leads to a sizable living room that seats 8+ with our brand new leather Lazy boy reclining sofa, leather chair and ottoman and new 46" flat screen tv w/cable.
Conveniently located on this level is also a spacious full size bathroom with stand- up walk in shower. The enormous eat in kitchen seats 4 to 5 persons at the counter and another 6 to 8 at the dining table. There is a deck off of the kitchen that can seat another 4 to 5 persons.
Sleeping accommodations on the main level consist of a large room with a mix of either real beds or air mattresses. There is also a semi private alcove off of the living room blocked off by privacy screens.
(pics 27, 28 ,29)
Both the Main and Penthouse levels have had the most up to date conveniences to include a stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and central heat and air conditioning.
Apartment B-(pics 18 thru 23)
This apartment, accessed by only one flight of stairs, has the perfect arrangement for groups wishing to have a more private stay. For example, we welcome families with well-behaved children and mature, respectful adults and students.
The amenities include a large living room with brand new flat screen tv, sectional sofa, an enormous eat in kitchen with a modern bar height table and island kitchen counter with bar stool seating. Both can easily accommodate seating for a group of 10 or more making this apartment perfect for non profit group retreats, McCormick Place business travelers and the like. There is a deck just off of the kitchen to have your morning coffee too! A/C window units keep the space cool and comfortable in the summer and central heat keeps it cozy in the winter.
There is one enormous bedroom which has a unique and comfy full size "loft style" bed (grown up bunk bed) and a 2nd cozy bedroom. A combination of real beds and air mattresses are available to sleep your group comfortably. If needed, the living room can accommodate comfy, raised air mattresses as well. Three enormous closets easily offer plenty of storage space for luggage for large groups.
Need more room/s? More sleeping spaces or gathering spaces are available for your group on other levels!
The Garden Level Apartment C-(pics 1 thru 16)
A very spacious yet smaller version of accommodations and amenities provided in Apartment B, this unit has been equipped with a window bench seat, flat screen tv, full kitchen to include a microwave, coffee pot and toaster oven.
For travelers wishing more comforts than a hotel, we have provided a dining table to seat 4 to 6 and two comfy living room chairs. Sleeping accommodations for larger groups provide for a mix of real and air mattresses available in the traditional dining and living space. Between the garden unit design, windy city breeze and the addition of window A/C units, this space stays cool in the summer and central heat keeps it cozy in the winter.
Need more room/s? More sleeping spaces are available for your group on other levels!
What makes our place unique?
The amount of space we offer of course! One of the few places in the city that has the ability to accommodate larger groups, we love hosting out of town guests and ensuring they have a great experience.

Thanks so much for choosing us and our home as your home away from home while visiting or working in Chicago:)
Chris and Stephanie were amazing hosts! Our airbnb reservation with another host was cancelled the night before our arrival, so I was frantically looking for another place to stay for our group of 8. Not only did Stephanie respond within an hour of contacting her, she called me to go through the pictures of her place to make sure it would work for our group. She was very nice to do this! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Stephanie and Chris. They were very friendly and went over the rules with us. Their condo was very clean and neat. We couldn't have asked for a better location either - just a brief walk away from the brown line for downtown with cute restaurants nearby. Also, Stephanie and Chris text us during our stay to make sure we didn't need anything. We had a fantastic time during our stay, and we would highly recommend these hosts to our friends!
Sadly, we weren't Jayne and friends first choice for their stay but we were happy that we could accommodate their needs on such short notice:) We take your stay, vacation and trip very seriously. Since we have such a large home and are able to provide guests with a stay that is tailored to their specific needs, desires and wishes, we prefer to review the options available. Our #1 goal is to ensure that the guest has the vacation at our home that they have dreamed of. We appreciate Jayne noting the cleanliness and convenience of our home and glad they enjoyed their stay. We welcome them and/or their friends to our home in Chicago or where ever else our mutual journey's take us.
I highly recommend you stay with Chris and Stephanie. This review is specifically for their first floor place in which we had a bachelor party of 10 people.
Interaction: Excellent, before the visit I communicated with Stephanie via email and skype. She was polite, prompt, helpful, and really put me at ease about my first booking on Airbnb. Upon arrival I dealt exclusively with Chris who was pleasant and funny and really made us feel comfortable about just enjoying ourselves.
Location: Excellent, close to Wrigley and all the great restaurants and bars in Lakeview/Wrigleyville/Boystown, but no so close that parking is a nightmare. We spent a lot of time around Sheffield/Diversey and took cabs there and back for ~$6-7.
Cleanliness/Appearance: Very Good, everything was perfectly clean and ready for us despite me arriving an hour earlier than I told them (sorry guys!). The whole place had a college-house vibe, only clean. This was perfect for our group of old college friends who didn't want to worry about maybe spilling a little beer.
Comfort: Very Good. A bed for each of us, only one guy said his mattress wasn't very comfortable. The lofts were a little creaky and at first it was surprising to so many mattresses fit into one room but it totally worked (might be an issue if you're a group of 10 linemen). One bathroom, wasn't an issue for us.
Jon is one of the most thoughtful, kind and organized guests and we highly recommend him to all of the Airbnb hosts as a fantastic asset to the community. (selfishly hope we have the opportunity to host him again:)) From his initial email and upfront consideration about his group celebrating a bachelor party for not just one friend but two, thru our communication and interactions to make arrangements for his large group, check in, their time at our home, check out and amazingly informative and helpful review for other bachelor groups considering our home, everything has been perfect! Since we don't have the opportunity to sleep on each mattress ourselves, we really do rely on our guests feedback and have taken actions to correct the critique but just wish we would have had the opportunity to make it more pleasant for Jon and his guests during their stay:)
My 13 year old son and I stayed in the "basement", which did not seem like a basement at all. I obsessed over every detail of our 4 day stay in Chicago, especially where we stayed. We came to explore the culture of Chicago. We made a great choice with Chris.
We got a late flight after work so we arrived around 11:30 pm. on a Thursday night. Chris was waiting up for us and helped us get settled.
One night I visited with Chris for hours and other nights just a short visit. He helped us figure out the trains and buses and gave us great tips on places to go. It is a short walk from the brown line which linked us to about anywhere we wanted to go. There are also two main bus lines that run regularly right at the end of the block. We were able to walk to a nice community theater. We added a few chocolate items to the fridge, from a nearby store. My son loved the bagels provided, but we eventually broke down and got Dunkin Donuts a few blocks away.
It was clean, comfortable and felt like being at home with a kitchen right outside our bedroom door, a nice bathroom steps away and I liked having the keys to the entry as well as being able to lock our bedroom door. We had a full size bathroom with a human size shower tall enough for me. We used the kitchen, storing some leftovers in the fridge, along with some drinks we bought nearby, and heated a few items in the stove. Although there are other people who stay there, we had a good sense of privacy.
I like to unpack and there was an extra long clothes rod in the closet and a long shelf to lay out our stuff. There was a TV, but there is just too much to see and do so my son only had it on for a short time. I know there were people in the room above ours but we never heard them. Never heard any street noise either. As I write this I realize this was better than a lot of hotels and Bed and Breakfast I have stayed in before.
We ended up exploring the neighborhood quite a bit. I think it gave us a different perspective of Chicago. We saw a quiet area with a few kids on bikes or scooters with their parents. We took time to check out the different styles of houses. You can tell that Chris has invested a lot into this house. The deck in the back is amazing extending up to the top floor. We rented a car one day and had no problem finding parking right outside.
We had a great time with just the two of us. Next time we go to Chicago it will probably be with my wife and daughter added to the mix and we will definitely stay there.
The apartment was a basement, a dark place with little windows and no ventilation, with a strong smell of gas. There was a gas escape in the kitchen, we advised the owner and he didn´t come to check it. He told us that he sent somebody and checked it but nobody came. We could find the way of cutting the entrance of gas and we could sleep there, but just because we couldn´t find anything else. If we could we have chosen another place and get the money back. Besides, he was rude with us by phone, the one and only way of contact him, when we only called him because we wanted to find a solution. We lost the whole afternoon of our vacation weekend trying to fix what the owner was responsible for. We hope we will go to Chicago many more weekends, but never again to this place.
We had an enjoyable and pleasant stay in Chris and Stephanie's apartment. The location of the house is very convenient for us to move around as it is near to the CTA where we can hop into the subway and go wherever we want to go. The whole apartment is very clean and it is very cozy for us. The host is very helpful and kind. Overall, i think that this is a great place to stay =)
The house is centrally located close to Wrigley Field which made it a great jumping off point for exploring the city. We were within walking distance to some great restaurants and justfa a short train ride to the Loop.
Chris and Stephanie were communicative hosts who took care to ensure that we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The apartment was well stocked with coffee (and good coffee at that), bagels, cream cheese, linens, spare towels, and all the other bits and bobs we needed. They checked in with us two days into our stay to see whether we needed anything restocked or changed.
As hosts, we take your vacation, stay and comfort very seriously. Understanding that as a traveler living in the States, this may be your one and only trip for the year or if you are an international traveler, this may be your one and only trip to Chicago. We wish to ensure you have a great trip and we appreciate Chris pointing out the our efforts. Since Chris had once lived in Chicago, he knew our neighborhood very well so we also thank him for pointing out the benefits and ease of exploring the city with our place as your home base. Very charming young family and man of tremendous character.
Chris & Stephanie are wonderful hosts, they were prompt to attend our requests and made us feel like at home. My family and I had a wonderful time in Chicago. Their garden unit fits five people very comfortably.
I loved how easy it was to get there on the CTA's brown line. The cab fee to the airport is very affordable. I would stay at their place again if I have the chance to visit Chicago again.

About the Host, Chris And Stephanie
Hello Fellow Traveler!
We welcome you to our Airbnb listing and appreciate that you wish to learn more about us as your potential hosts. We enjoy meeting new people and look forward to sharing with you what we love about Chicago:)
Why have we opened our home?
We arrived about 4 summers ago for a 3 day business trip, fell in love with Chicago and never left. This is our 4th summer! Since we are both adventurous spirits, with some trepidation, we tried this thing called "AirBNB". We had such a great experience because of our host; we thought we would pay it forward.
What has been our favorite experience hosting so far? Lollapalooza:)
Who are we?
Chris and I met in High School and reconnected on the site that begins with Face and ends with Book a couple of years ago. We think we have quite the love story that resulted in a proposal a few years back and would be happy to share it with you on one of your relaxing evenings on our deck or over a cup coffee while you are sorting out your travels for the day-but we promise not to bore you with it!
What are we doing here?
After we reunited, we had the amazing opportunity to become Environmental Stewards for a wonderful company that brought us to Chicago. One of our company's core values is to stimulate the local economy, find other Environmental Stewards like ourselves and train them for leadership roles. (Another great story if you are out of sorts from your trip and can't sleep one nite-and of course care to hear it:) )
What we think about ourselves as hosts?
We pride ourselves in being open and available hosts for a chat, a recommendation, throwing darts, a game of scrabble or an impromptu cook out or s'mores on the fire pit but we also completely respect your privacy and understand this is your trip. We only wish to ensure your travels are more than you would have hoped for thru spending time at our home and meeting other guests.
Where have we been?
Chris is an Army Brat and has lived all over the States and I have traveled around Europe while living in Madrid, Spain for 3 years.
Places Chris has lived:
He spent his youth in San Antonio, Hawaii, Denver, Colorado Springs and Maryland (the DC area). As an adult, he lived in Kansas City for a bit, he settled for many years in Norman, Oklahoma (if you've heard of it), Dallas/Ft. Worth, back to Maryland (to get me;)) and now Chicago.
Places Chris has traveled to:
Boston and other parts of Massachusetts in which he has tons of family and for our business, all over New Jersey (our company has a HUGE presence there and helped tremendously with the Hurricane Sandy clean up), many parts of PA (we really enjoyed our time in Pittsburgh), Philly a few times (best sandwiches we have found yet!) and many more.
Stephanie lived most of her life in the Maryland area traveling for work in the DC and Virginia areas but joining her friends on their business trips in the States to visit as many cities as possible. Of course, the fun-damentals like Las Vegas, Miami Beach (along with many other Florida cities that my family lives such as Ft. Lauderdale, Deerfield Beach, Jacksonville) and NYC. More relaxing fun in Savannah, GA; Myrtle Beach, SC (where my mom has retired), Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ (where my brother used to live), San Diego and Coronado (a couple of times since they are some of my favorite), Hawaii (to see the first grandchild in our family), L.A. (had the opportunity to cruise Monterey's 17 mile drive)...
Stephanie's European Travels: Of course many of the big cities like Paris (the food!), Munich (best airport ever!), Frankfurt, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Malaga, Bilbao, Gothenburg, Sweden (for a dear friends wedding), but also some off of the beaten path that became my very favorite memories like Morocco, Tunisia and more....
Places we will go: Brazil, Fiji, South America, Canada....
Our recent travels together: We recently finished an extended road trip and stayed at several Airbnb homes. Our travels took us first to Chris' families in Norman, Oklahoma onto Albuquerque; from there to Phoenix to our ultimate destination-San Felipe, Mexico where we booked 3 different homes one of which was exceptional. We included some side excursions to Coronado, California, Ensenada and Rosarito, Mexico where we stayed in an AMAZING home and had some fantastic food. On our return, we were fortunate enough to also stay in a Villa with OUTSTANDING views in Sedona, California.
