Cozy large studio 1 bedroom w/kitchen, bath. Cool 60's ledgestone veneer 4-plex on a creekside corner. Private parking upfront. Apt. has shed roof w/beamed ceilings, indirect lighting for a total period feel. Kitchen area has skylight, concrete counter . Bedroom w/sliding glass door/louvered blind to patio on creek allows natural light as needed. Bath is simple w/full tub, concrete shower wall, counter w/lighting update.
The apartment is located in an area known as North Loop for the street that leads through it. On it is a small gauntlet of shops in a two block zone of a period known as early funk. Neon lights at night turn this into a carnival of restaurants, shops, bars; a magical experience any evening. Smoke a hookah back of Casbah/Phara's w/Eastern music, bellydancing.
There are several other great restaurants within walking/short drive past first area on Airport Blvd, major artery that leads to racetrack route on 4-6 lanes. Seafood, Mexican, gourmet burgers, pizza, sushi have revived this area. Lots of folks in the evenings for a great time.
Public transit is walking distance on North Loop. Epoch Coffee is open 24/7 and is famous; get a cup, breakfast taco and go!
Mueller Development is across I-35 @ 51st Street. It is a total green build of a former airport. It has restored prairie park with lakes, paths and family friendly setting. Many restaurants, shops and housing make up a winning multi use development.
Too much cool stuff in the area; Threadgill's on Lamar, where Janis Joplin started singing for home cooking and Sunday bluegrass brunch. Mmmm. Stiles Switch BBQ has rivaled Franklin's with no 2 hour wait. Blues on Friday nights early. Groovy Autmotive has Roky Erickson's Les Paul sculpture (bat themed) in front garden area with waterfall, Bouganvillea. Take a pic. Old Austin still abounds.
No smoking inside , have small fenced patio back off dry creek. Appliances rule: run one only at a time : microwave, toaster oven , blender, coffee maker please. Circuit is fine just trips breaker with too much draw on one outlet. Stove is new, oven works. Turn knob all the way up broil, wait for lighting of burner by opening lower door and then dial it down for cooking in oven. Top burners same way, up all the way , wait then dial it back.
Place has natural air flow with open sliding glass door and front lower window open. ceiling fans help to circulate for a nice setting. Strong breezes outside move air along, circulates inside easily.
