Hi there! I am Emily and am originally from Oklahoma and have an apt at 42nd and 9th in a full luxury doorman building (24 hr gym, laundry, dry cleaning, wireless, cable, DVR, digital movies, local phone, fax, copier, scanner, etc…) on the 30th floor with views of the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, New Jersey and the Hudson River. It is a newer building with all new appliances, etc…
It is extremely close (within walking distance) to Times Square, Restaurant Row, 9th avenue dining, shopping, Port Authority (for all bus transfer, airport pick-ups and stops and trips to Jersey Gardens, Woodbury Commons, etc...), Javits Center and all of the subway lines and Broadway shows. I also get discounts to Broadway shows, so feel to inquire once you book! It is also just a short walk or train ride to the Empire State Building, Macy's, Herald Square, and more shopping.
It is a 1 bdr converted to 2 and all the "red" room in the photos with the screen would be your room/space. The price includes all bills/utilities (a/c, heat, water, electric, gas, wireless, phone, cable).
I work and travel a lot within my industry (as a performer and recording artist - recently soloed at Carnegie Hall and am in Mamma Mia), but also have long hours which vary quite a bit at the apt. You will certainly have enough time to yourself, though. When we email, I will let you know of my schedule and/or travel plans before you arrive so it is very clear.
Have a great day!!!!
Nothing really off limits: please just ask and I'll let you know!! :) Great kitchen, gym, laundry room, etc….
Interaction with Guests
I work and travel a lot within the music industry (as a performer, recording artist and producer), but also have long hours which vary quite a bit at the apt. You will certainly have enough time and space to yourself, though. When we email, I will let you know of my schedule and/or travel plans before you arrive so it is clear.
I can also give discounts and recommendations for Broadway shows and restaurants if you like.
Restaurant Row; 9th avenue dining; Broadway!!; Off-Broadway; Times Square close but not so close to the craziness; amazing views; close to 34th Street and Herald Square and Javits Center.
Very convenient and very close. It is only 1-2 blocks to most all trains (1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, R, Q, S, 7, …)
I have a list of apt info and "housekeeping" details on the fridge with lists of nearby restaurants, grocery stores, post office, subway, etc… Please read all of them. Essentially, please just keep things nice as you find them!
Also, there is no smoking allowed in the apt, but there is a 4th floor patio where people can smoke if need be.
Lastly, if you are sick or have the flu, etc...you cannot stay. I will try to help make other arrangements and not lose money and help with finding other arrangements if you do not cancel your trip; but, as a singer, I cannot get sick as I then cannot work. This happened once with a guest who came and stayed with the flu and it cannot happen again. I would not come to your house with the flu or a cold, so please do not come to mine with it. Thanks for understanding! :)
Had a lovely stay at Emily's place, very clean, comfortable, in a great location and a fantastic view! Only caught Greg briefly on the way out but both Emily and Greg checked in with me to make sure I had everything I needed before and during my stay. Would definitely visit again when in NY!
Great location and apartment to experience New York and Emily responded to all our emails to assist us with a very late arrival.
flat with perfect location in hell's kitchen in safe building. I was expecting a minimum of one bedroom in this purportedly two room flat with occasional sharing, so the possibility of two bedrooms at certain times seemed real. This was not the case: it is definitely a one-bedroom flat with sharing all the time, so no bedroom but everything in the living room. It is definitely too expensive under these conditions: the same full flat (i.e. with one bedroom) with empty closet space and empty refrigerator in the same building can be had for the same price.
Unfortunately, there was misunderstanding with Ria. This apartment can be a shared space as it says in the very first sentence of the listing and it also also stated later in the listing. It can also be a full apartment which is also stated and which can also by proven by 150+ reviews below. Not every single one of the reviews below is from a shared experience as inferred above, so that is inaccurate and misleading.
Ria also said she might have an occasional guest from Europe during her stay and since she was staying a bit longer, I did not charge for an extra guest to extend her a courtesy and did not ask for dates. I definitely should have because there were over 8 guests staying for over 70% of the time and sometimes 2 at a time! Having only 2 guests stay is advised per my listing and not 3 which occurred; however, I tried to be accommodating nevertheless. My fiance who was taking care of the apt (and is usually gone and also works 70+ hours a week) also left for 6 days after an issue was made, so again, we accommodated her complaints and requests so she could have 3 people there.
Ria also needed closet and cabinet space which most travelers and tourists do not. Again, she was accommodated and space was created and cleaned out so she could have space for her things, but never did she ask for a large amount of space before booking nor does my listing suggest someone will get a full and empty closet. I provide a desk and some areas to put things and a few shelves, but again appeased the request by creating more space which is hard to do in NYC. :)
I hope she had a nice time in New York; however, I encourage her and other people booking to fully read details from hosts as they are written for a reason. I also encourage her and others to be upfront with expectations as well as if there will be any special accommodations needed or are planning to add extra people.
Nice appartement on a great location in the city. Although we didn't meet Emily, here fiancé was there to welcome us. We will definitely stay here the next time.
About the Host, Emily
I am originally from Oklahoma, but am also fluent in Spanish. I will most likely be here, too, but I do also travel a lot for shows and vacation. I am in musical theatre and am in Broadway and Off-Broadway shows and I just released my own album and have soloed at Carnegie Hall, etc...
If I am here, it is predominately just to sleep and I have whoever is staying take all the "red" room and I don't use it at all. It has a smaller bed (for 1 or 2), a queen size pull out couch bed (for 1 or 2) and an aero bed (for 1 or 2).
I also get discounts to Broadway shows if interested.
Thanks for your consideration!!
