The guest bedroom of my South Austin townhouse, right in the heart of the fastest growing part of Austin! Full access to all home amenities, restaurants and shops all over the neighborhood, and the best coffee & tacos in town in walking distance.
Your bedroom: complete with a queen size bed, enormous Southern exposure windows, and blackout drapes. Pin your name on the map on the city you hail from! Dinosaurs are complimentary.
The second bedroom in a 1500 sq ft modern townhouse condo located in the eclectic and exciting 78704 zip code of South Austin. 220 sq feet of this floor space will be all yours with a queen size memory foam bed, private bathroom, walk in closet, and two huge 10' windows with Southern exposure for tons of light (and blackout roman blinds so you can sleep in if you like!). I also have a queen size air mattress with sheets and pillows I can set up for you if there are more than two of you. You also get your own 36" TV with an AppleTV if you need to get your Netflix fix!
The common areas of the house which you'll share with me include a brand new washer / dryer upstairs, and a large open space downstairs including a modern granite finished kitchen with gas range, microwave, fridge, and full complement of cooking equipment and dishes. Help yourself to coffee from the Keurig on the counter! The living space features a comfy leather couch and recliner, 60" LED TV, Blu-ray player, and Apple TV access with HBO Go and Hulu Plus. Sliding doors open onto a patio and private yard complete with a grill and fire pit. High speed wireless access is available, as well as a wirelessly networked printer. Covered off-street parking is available for one car as well, just park behind my Vespa!
I live here full time with my six year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Rufus and one year old Domestic Shorthair named Olivia Newton Wilde (or just Olive). They are both extremely friendly and affectionate animals, and Rufus will be your best friend immediately while Olive waits until you've settled down a bit before coming in for some love. I work from my home office and am mostly around during the day when I don't decide to head off to a coffee shop. I'm out and about most nights seeing live music, playing in the adult kickball league I run on Thursday nights, or otherwise exploring my beautiful city, and I'm always happy to share what's going on in town that night.
You get the guest room and its attached private bathroom to yourself, and have full access to the living room, kitchen, back yard, and laundry! There's usually space in the fridge for groceries and everything you need to cook at home is available.
The master bedroom is private, but feel free to wander into the office if you want to admire my LEGO collection or provide me a distraction from work.
Interaction with Guests
I work from home so I'll be around plenty unless I'm out of town for some reason, and I love chatting with guests over a beer between adventures. I love giving tips on where to eat and what to do around town too, so don't hesitate to ask whats going on that night.
The 78704 zip code is the origin of the "Keep Austin Weird" slogan, which refers not only to the general attitude of those of us who live here but a commitment to supporting small businesses. Cafes, shops, boutique movie theaters, and food trailers line nearby Lamar Blvd, South 1st Street, and South Congress Avenue, and I'd be happy to fill you in on where to find the best tacos, bahn mi, barbecue, donuts, or anything else you could think of close by.
Downtown is just four miles away: a 10 minute drive, 20 minute bike trip, or 20 minute bus ride (the nearest bus stop is seconds away on Manchaca Rd!)
To reach the #3 bus to go downtown, simply walk across the parking lot across the street. The bus station is on the other side of the lot on Manchaca road and runs every 30 minutes for a $1 one-way fare, or $2 all-day fare.
Parking is available on the street or in my driveway behind the Vespa.
-Be sure to lock all doors when leaving the property unattended
-Do not flush anything other than TP and human waste
-Secure your phone and computer chargers: the kitty is a chewer!
-Coffee is complimentary (French press or Keurig machine), otherwise please check with me before eating or drinking anything in the kitchen
-Feel free to use the AppleTV for streaming Netflix, but do not purchase or rent any media from iTunes. The AppleTVs can also be used to mirror your iPad, iPhone or macbook in order to stream your media.
Stephen was extremely accommodating when we extended our stay.

Great place to stay -so close to everything and easy to get anywhere. Large bedroom -bed was super as were the pillows. Would definitely book again and hope to meet Stephen who regrettably was away for the weekend we were there. Many thanks!
Stephen was a great host. He was quick to respond and made sure I had everything I needed during my week long stay. Definitely recommend!
The best airbnb experience we could have asked for! Stephen's house is absolutely gorgeous, everything was very clean and comfortable! Stephen was a great hosts and was always there to help us get to know this super cool city! Thanks for everything!! :)
Solid location. Place was clean and nice. Room was a tad too warm for my liking but temperature controls are right outside the room. Place is nice.
We had an awesome time in Austin, thanks in no small part to our gracious host, Stephen. The accommodations were exactly as described, he had all kinds of great suggestions for places to go and things to do, and Rufus and Olive (and the chickens!) were lovely!
Fantastic host, house, room and location for quick in and our for SXSW. Super nice couple, clean place, great hospitality and overall good experience. Enjoy!

A San Antonio native, I moved to Austin in 2007 after graduating from Washington University in St Louis to be back in my beloved Texas, and I've been here ever since. I work at a mid sized tech start up here in Austin providing online marketing and search engine optimization services, and recently bought my first home just down the road from my office.
Thursday nights I spend out at the park playing and officiating in the adult kickball league I now run after having playing in it since 2009. It's been one of the greatest social outlets I've ever found and helped me meet countless incredible people in Austin. Getting paid to play kickball might be one of the greatest part time gigs of all time.
I'm a huge dog lover, or perhaps more accurately a small-dog lover as my longtime wing man is my Welsh Corgi Rufus. We've spent plenty of time together exploring our incredibly dog-friendly city and its many parks and dog runs, or just enjoying the fact that 90% of the businesses in Austin will let you bring your dog with you. My cat Olivia was a much more recent addition to the family, but she's grown from meek kitten to lord of the house and constant wrestling combatant for Rufus.
I love hosting friends and have always had a guest bedroom ready for someone to drop by at a moments notice or take a weekend trip to see a show, so when my girlfriend told me about Airbnb it was a no-brainer to get my new place listed.
