The second bedroom in a 1500 sq ft modern townhouse condo located in the eclectic and exciting 78704 zip code of South Austin. 220 sq feet of this floor space will be all yours with a queen size memory foam bed, private bathroom, walk in closet, and two huge 10' windows with Southern exposure for tons of light (and blackout roman blinds so you can sleep in if you like!). I also have a queen size air mattress with sheet and pillows I can set up for you if there are more than two of you.
The common areas of the house which you'll share with me include a brand new washer / dryer upstairs, and a large open space downstairs including a modern granite finished kitchen with gas range, microwave, fridge, and full complement of cooking equipment and dishes. Help yourself to coffee from the Keurig on the counter! The living space features a comfy leather couch and recliner, 60" LED TV, Blu-ray player, and Apple TV access with HBO Go and Hulu Plus. Sliding doors open onto a patio and private yard complete with a grill and fire pit. High speed wireless access is available, as well as a wirelessly networked printer. Covered off-street parking is available for one car as well.
I live here full time with my six year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Rufus and one year old Domestic Shorthair named Olivia Newton Wilde (or just Olive). They are both extremely friendly and affectionate animals, and Rufus will be your best friend immediately while Olive waits until you've settled down a bit before coming in for some love. I work from my home office and am mostly around during the day when I don't decide to head off to a coffee shop. I'm out and about most nights seeing live music, playing in the adult kickball league I run on Thursday nights, or otherwise exploring my beautiful city, and I'm always happy to share what's going on in town that night.
You get the guest room and it's attached private bathroom to yourself, and have full access to the living room and kitchen. There's usually space in the fridge and The master bedroom is private, but feel free to wander into the office if you want to admire my LEGO collection.
I work from home so I'll be around plenty unless I'm out of town for some reason, and I love chatting with guests over a beer between adventures. I love giving tips on where to eat and what to do around town too, so don't hesitate to ask whats going on that night.
The 78704 zip code is the origin of the "Keep Austin Weird" slogan, which refers not only to the general attitude of those of us who live here but a commitment to supporting small businesses. Cafes, shops, boutique movie theaters, and food trailers line nearby Lamar Blvd, South 1st Street, and South Congress Avenue, and I'd be happy to fill you in on where to find the best tacos, bahn mi, barbecue, donuts, or anything else you could think of close by.
Downtown is just four miles away: a 10 minute drive, 20 minute bike trip, or 20 minute bus ride (the nearest bus stop is seconds away on Manchaca Rd!)
Parking is available on the street or in my driveway behind the Vespa.
Stephen's place was great-lovely room and private bathroom. The room was clean and sweet. Stephen was available and full of suggestions. And he was a quick communicator with booking and emailing.

It was great! The bed was amazingly comfortable & I absolutely adored the light from the two windows in the bedroom, it made it bright and cheery! Stephen was very personable and friendly! And seriously, we wanted to take both of his pets home! Olivia and Rufus are just as amazingly wonderful little critters as everyone else and said in their reviews! I was a little concerned that being a smaller type dog he might be noisy/bark a lot… Not at all he is a quiet wonderful little "puppy dog"! Stephen & both pets are a delight in every way...so I would not hesitate to make your stay at Stephens!!
I stayed with Stephen for two nights while driving across country to San Diego. The room is modern and loved the firm bed. Great south location of Austin and easy to get to downtown.

This place was absolutely amazing. Wide open space, super comfy bed, and the kitchen had EVERYTHING you could use. Stephen is a great host, is there when you need him, but you never feel cramped with another person there. His pets make ya feel right at home too! GET THIS PLACE NOW!

Stephen's place was perfect for a SXSW stay. Exactly as advertised, clean & friendly. The add-on surprise was finding it one block from a bus stop with a straight shot to downtown. No need for expensive cab rides, or even a rental bike. Many thanks!
Our stay was great, the house is awesome and the room is super comfortable with our own bathroom, Stephen was very friendly and he gave us good tips about the city. Rufus and Olivia are the perfect company. We will of course stay again and I highly recommend it!
We had a great time staying at Stephen's condo! It was clean and quiet and the perfect place to get some sleep after a long day out exploring the city. The best part of staying with Stephen are Rufus and Olivia who must be the sweetest pets in the world! They all made us feel right at home. We will stay here again next time we are in Austin!
Such a worthwhile choice to stay at Steve's. He clearly communicated anytime we got in touch/had a question. The room is very nice and comfortable in a beautiful home with two friendly pets we greatly enjoyed meeting. Steve gave us great recommendations of places to go see/music venues/restaurants and more. We had a nice morning coffee with him, which we were glad to put a face to the name. We would highly recommend a stay at Steve's. we especially loved the map on the wall with pushpins of people's names and hometowns who have stayed with him through airb&b. Nice thoughtful touch.
