This was our first trip to Mexico and our first time using Airbnb and Bruce was a great host. He had his driver Riccardo pick us up from the airport, for a fee which made life easier for us. Bruce met us at the apartment and showed us where everything was and even provided us with a mobile phone for our use. There are maps of the city and guide books available as well. Apartment 104 is basic, but clean and centrally located to public transport and just a short walk to the Zocalo. We even used Riccardo for a day visit to the pyramids. A great introduction to Airbnb.
Our visit began with a one-hour delay waiting for Bruce to meet up with us as arranged. His helper, Cornelio, who met us (Bruce was apparently in the US, but had not informed us of this) apologised for the hour delay but thought the enitre situation a huge joke. He and Tomas, yet another helper, apparently complained to this service about me being "hostile". This was NOT true but I was certainly upset with this attitude. Cornelio did not know all the details of the apartment.
The apartment: we were in 105 and the pictures and descritpions in Airbnb are for 104!!! Hence, we had no security safe and NO washer and dryer as promised. The TV did have a dvd player but it was impossible to use without the specific help of Cornelio - instructions should be left for foreigners.
Ricardo, another helper, was very helpful and very friendly.
Overall, the apartment was enjoyable but not what we expected. The service was NOT up to par.
We had a wonderful time in Mexico City while staying at Bruce's apartment. Centrally located, the modern, safe and comfortable apartment offered all the amenities we needed. A full kitchen, clothes washer and dryer, a safe, TV with STAR satellite stations and internet. A bonus was that we also had access to a full gym and 25 m pool that was within the complex.
For convenience, Bruce had us met at the airport and driven to our apartment. The next day Bruce showed us around the complex and around the area. We asked a lot of questions to orientate ourselves to Mexico City which Bruce gave good responses. This helped us get right into visiting the city. Also we were able to get a reasonable cost day tour to a wonderful archeological site outside of Mexico City.
Bruce is personable and we appreciated his efforts that made us feel at home away from home.
Nice quiet apartment in a great location. The building has good facilities, is well maintained and very clean. It is an easy walk to many of the best sites in the city and the rest are accessible via the metro or the Turibus which stops very close by.
Bruce was an excellent host and supplied a number of unexpected services such as airport pick up, a tour of the area, bottled water in the apartment and a mobile to contact him with.
all in all a great experience.
