Even though this is only a room for rent, I do travel. That being said, you may get lucky and find yourself with the whole house for the price of a room...So, please make sure you are comfortable staying alone, hanging with and feeding cats, and enjoying an old rustic romantic place!
This is our private residence, please treat it with respect. Replenish what you use and please pack your trash out with you. Thx!
Quick note, all questions are likely answered in the body of this description. Please read and heed ;)
A few starting points;
-This is an artsy home, it is not modern. We purposefully left the floors and wood doors old. We like the artistry of it. For example, the wood floors are raw with paint splatters because it was an artist loft in 1927 and we love the style and nostalgia.
-This house was built in 1927 and holds the charm of a french chateau meets tree house.
-Being a tree house, all areas may not be level, doors creak, deck is actually built into a tree and it is all reclaimed wood!!!
-It has a refurbished antique stove
-There is however, brand new paint interior and exterior, new washer, refurbished bath, claw foot tub, awesome bed, bedroom, killer view and deck, trees and amenities.
-This is a cute little woodsy bungalow in the hills of LA, not the Beverly hills hotel. If you want clean lines and perfect cleanliness, this is not the place. We have a maid clean before every stay but there is nature all around. Leaves fall, dust sneaks by and we are by no means OCD.
-There are 31 stairs from street to pathway to house, please note...there are stairs! (Some people tend to ignore that warning)
This house is hidden from view , safe and secluded, tucked behind another house.
-This house is on a hill, you park on the street and walk up. There are no parking restrictions.
-The bath is raised and it has been difficult for some elderly to maneuver and would be dangerous for children.
-The deck has been restored and is safe but it is also not even or perfect as it is built into a tree
-The very two words rustic and tree house must be heeded. There will be no refunds because the house was “too rustic for you”
-There is wildlife, skunks, possums, racoons, and birds and they will all try to come in from time to time. Just shoo them away, that's what I do :)
-There are indoor/outdoor cats. They need to be fed. The food is provided.
-There are condiments aplenty in the fridge and oils and spices in the cupboard. We think of that as a courtesy and we think of you more like boarders in a BNB then random tenants. Please understand, it is not tainted, left over food. :)
-We highly recommend this house to writers, artists and musicians. It is eclectic and funky, very pretty and inspirational. The neighbors and neighborhood are awesome and quite hip. Bars and food a city block away...read on for more!
This is a one bedroom house with a den. The bedroom is yours to rent and in the back part of house next to kitchen and bath. I stay in den off of living room in front of house through front door entrance.
The bedroom has a California king bed, private side entrance and is next door to the bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen bath are all shared spaces. During the day the rest of the house is open to you as well. At night, you have your bedroom, private patio, garden, entrance, bathroom and kitchen.
The room has free wifi, cable tv (all channels including movie channels), flat screen, and a work desk. It has a private patio, though you are welcome on the main deck as well. It is adjacent to the garden where there is yet another hangout area. There is a skylight (with a black out shade) and a window where you have a view of the lake.

Such a cute and cozy place to stay. Absolutely loved the decor of this house- rustic & artsy- just as advertised.
Far enough away from the noise where I was able to relax on the patio with a glass of wine and a book while enjoying the view but close enough to walk into town for some delicious food and funky shops. The Silverlake reservoir, coffee shop, bar, and spas near by and all within walking/biking distance.
Hope was a sweet host. She was accommodating yet gave me plenty of privacy. Loved Edgar the cat so much, he kept me company on the patio in the afternoons and even joined me for naps. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!
The place was amazing. very comfy and homey with great views and the location is great. Highly recommend staying there
The place is beautiful. We enjoyed the airiness of the house, the nature and the scenery. Perfect place to drink wine after a day around town. She was a great host, thoughtful and caring. I wish we could've hanged out more. Gladly there was Edgar (the cat) to keep us company.
I loved staying at the treehouse!! It probably had the most character of any place I've stayed and Tyler was incredibly welcoming and understanding of my last minute stay. I had a great time staying at her place and highly recommend it to anyone coming to LA!
I already miss the place so much and I've only been back in London for a day! The location of Taylor's place is just perfect. East side LA. Walking distance from amazing bars, restaurants and the reservoir, which is perfect to run around (if that takes your fancy). The house itself is beautifully styled and Hope is just the most perfect host. It felt like home from home. Without doubt one of the happiest, nicest places I've stayed in LA. I will be back!
Taylor is terrific. I had a great time at her place. thank you thank you!
The house is very chilled, characterful and just by Silverlake. Taylor is a friendly and helpful host, who it's nice to chat to but also gives you your space. The bathroom isn't very clean, and the first set of towels I used it turned out hadn't been washed, but I guess the cleaner had dropped the ball. Hope took care of this soon as I mentioned it. Otherwise, the stay was perfect and I'd happily recommend the place and go back myself.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
What an amazing place! The flat is so comfy and makes you feel home. The view from the house is amazing. The only "bad" thing is that this flat makes it hard to leave to the city because you dont want to. And no its not a pigsty and no Taylor doesn't kills romantic because she comes to her OWN home (thats what other reviews said) Taylor is a wonderful person and a great host. We would always stay there again
Absolutely wonderful. The perfect place to recharge my batteries. Taylor went above and beyond in making me feel at home, and had an inspiring passion for life. I loved my little treehouse nook, felt like a fairytale cottage. I will definitely stay in touch and make a point to come back one day!
