In our quiet town of Huarocondo you will enjoy peaceful nights, and beautiful scenery, Huarocondo is the perfect place for relaxing after a long day of exploring sites, and you can even sit in the main plaza without the worry of being bothered by venders selling souvenirs. If relaxing is not your thing then you can take advantage of our rural location and explore the many trails around town, some of which wind through fields of choclo, potatoes, abas or quinoa. You can get a work-out hiking up one of the local mountains, or take a leisurely stroll to the local Incan terraces close to Zurite. If you are interested in seeing the many archeological sites in the region, don’t worry, we can arrange tours or transportation to any place you may be interested in from Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley to the lesser visited sites like Tipon and Pikillacta. We can also arrange transportation to and from Cusco if needed and public transportation is readily available, for those preferring to get around on their own.

Interaction with Guests
We live here at the property so you will most likely see us a lot, we always try and have dinner at the same time so that any guests wanting to, can join us for dinner. Breakfasts are a little different as, different guests need to leave at different times, depending on their schedules. Additionally, anytime we are not away transporting or taking guests on tours, we are here at the property.
Huarocondo is a small rural town set in an agricultural valley, located mid-way between Cusco and the Sacred Valley, with the main attraction being the beauty, peace and tranquility. There are plenty of roads and trails for hiking and the largest lake in the Cusco region is just 11.5 km to the North East. Additionally there are two archeological sites close by, Andenes Zurite which is 5.6 km to the south and the trail to Wata is 5.5 km to the North West. The property is located just one block from the Huarocondo main Plaza where you can sample the local specialty of lechon or roast pig, and there is also a large colonial church on the main plaza that houses several paintings, that we have been told, are more valuable than the ones in the cathedral in Cusco.
There are a few options for transportation in and out of town, depending on where you want to go. The first and easiest is for us to arrange a car and driver for you; this can be almost any time of day or night, and services range from basic transportation to full day tours.
There is also public transportation available in and out of town by either colectivos or buses. These start about 5:30am and will continue until either 6:30pm or 9:00pm depending on the route.
Other Things to Note
Our goal here at GringoWasi is that you to enjoy your vacation to the fullest, if you have any questions or need something, please don’t hesitate to ask. Just because we don’t “offer” something, doesn’t mean it is not within our ability to provide. We do our best to anticipate our guest’s needs but not all guests are the same, so don’t be afraid to ask.
We also send out a list of travel tips and other useful information after you have booked, sometimes this information will end up in your junk folder, so if you have booked with us, please check your junk folder after making the booking for additional information.

Lyle went above and beyond to make my short stay in Huaracondo a positive one. It's fair to say that I forgot I paid so little for such a delightful place to stay. As far as accommodations and travel resources, Lyle has it covered. He takes his B&B very seriously and you can see it in the way he communicates and takes care of his guests. I brought some potatoes from the organic market in Lima and he was more than happy to cook them up for breakfast. I couldn't have been more happy with my room and all of the other peripheral accommodations in and around the house. As far as getting to and from Huaracondo, it's best to travel during the day when you can take a collectivo or taxi for cheap. If you prefer a more comfortable option, Lyle provides transportation for his guests at set prices, though they are little higher than local transportation options. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay and was sad to go.
Staying in the little town of Huarocondo was an absolutely fantastic experience, its very rare to find tourist-style accommodation in an setting that is complete off the tourist radar. Lyle & Lily were the perfect hosts, very knowledgable about the area and always ready to help — I knew I was in good hands right away. The meals were always tasty and interesting. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Overall a wonderful stay and exactly what I was looking for :)
Very quiet and clean hostel, the view-sight nearby is really very wonderful for me. Lyle was very nice and kind to give me all the information necessary. If you want to pass several days quiet, it would surely a good choice.
100% recomendado, thank you guys!
Gringo Wasi is an excellent place to stay with the feel of a comfortable home and not a hotel. Lily and Lyle are great hosts and always provide good conversation, food and even private tours of the surrounding areas. I greatly enjoyed staying in the little village setting. If you like hiking in the mountains this place is definitely for you. I Highly recommend Gringo Wasi
GringoWasi is a great spot to stay for a few days if you´re looking for something a little different to Cusco and Aguas Calientes. Set in a small village only 40 minutes out of Cusco it´s the perfect spot to relax and visit other attractions in the area e.g Moray and Moras. Lyle was away whilst I visited but Kelly was fantastic and made me feel right at home. The room is great and the meals I had there were fantastic.
We were madevery welcome by Kelly who was looking after GringoWasi while Kyle was away. She took us out on a trip to the local lake with her and helped us organise ticketsto Machupicchu. We highly recommend this airbnb but make sure breakfast is ready on time. Ours was late and we only had 5 minutes to spare before the train left for Machupicchu!

About the Host, Lyle
My wife and I have enjoyed traveling for many years and have visited a lot of places around the world, recently we decided to enter the hospitality side and open our own bed and breakfast in Cusco. Being seasoned travelers, we know the value of a comfortable and quiet place to rest, at GringoWasi we and are dedicated to ensuring our guests are well rested and ready for their next day of exploring.
This church is surprising considering the small size of our town, the pulpit and paintings are some of the best in the Cusco region and the main alter is beautiful with its gold gilding.Huarocondo Cuzco
The Plaza de Armas is an excellent place to relax and people watch or enjoy a plate of the town’s famous lechon. This is also where the local Sunday Market, festivals and celebrations are held.Huarocondo Cuzco
Here you can see where Salt has been harvested since the Incan times. Distance to site about 45 minutes from our property.Cuzco Region
