Dirk is a wonderful, super-nice and very helpful host. During my three weeks stay in Amsterdam, he made sure that everything run well. His apartment is located in a quiet area but is close to the center of the city. I can walk to the Centruum, to the Museumplein, even to Pijp area in less than half an hour. A tram halte (station) is just two minutes away. The neighbourhood is full with design stores, affordable Turkish/Suriname grocery stores, and cool and hip organic/vegan places/cafes. Dirk is super friendly and generous with his time. He's also very knowledgeable. He shared a few insider's tips about Amsterdam himself. He borrowed me his museumkaart (so basically I spent nothing for the museum visits) which is very very nice. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in Amsterdam and I would strongly recommend you to stay in his comfortable and welcoming apartment!!
Dirk was an excellent host. I felt very welcome and at home from the first moment. We had a lovely discussion over coffee and yummy treats when I first arrived and he told me all about the city and Holland. The room I stayed in was on the top floor so I had a lot of privacy. The flat is within walking distance of everything and I often didn't take public transport and walked to the city centre. I would definitely stay again on my next visit. Highly recommended!!
It was very nice to stay here! Hope I can stay at Dirks place again when visiting Amsterdam next time.
Dirk is very nice! And my bed was ultra-comfortable! Stay with Dirk!
He has the real airbnb spirit!!! Dirk is a very nice guy, funny, easygoing, with great conversation. He gave me one of the best welcome ever, explanning secrets and tips of the city, providing me with maps, museum card, etc. The room was bright, warm and comfortable. A very good place to come back after a long day in the city. Great location, 10 minutes from the train station. I absolutely recommend it!
Dirk is a wonderful, warm, and friendly host i could ever hope for. I would say that he is more like a friend than a real host. The apartment itself is tranquil and easily accessible through public transport and on a walking distance from the city center. I found no difficulties locating the neighborhood during my stay. I'd like to thank you for this experience.
Dirk is a wonderful person. I love Dirk very much! I have never seen someone so fabulous, friendly, helpful happy, firendly and a so good host like him! As he says in his presentation on his AIRBNB page, he is really a real Dutchman that loves very much his Country. When he speaks about his Country he makes us feel the same love and interest for his Country as he does.. He receives everyone with the same attention and courtesy. As soon as we arrive, he gives us a complete class about the city and the history of his Country. He has a map on his wall to point out the most important places in the city to be visited. He explains about the lines of trains near his place and where they carry us to. The room is very good, bright and comfortable as the bed also is. Everything is very clean. He always tried to help me. Whenever I asked him something, he heard me with attention, answering to everything. Whenever I go back to Amsterdam, be sure, I will stay at his place again. He is so gentle that when I came back home one evening, as soon as I arrived, he told me to go to my bedroom because there was a surprise for me. On my pillow, he had left a box of Dutch chocolates for me! He not only helped me to put my luggage up as he put it downstairs when I leaved Amsterdam. He also booked a taxi for me and got up early in the moring to help me! I recommend staying at Dirk`s place!
I was visiting Amsterdam for business so only needed a room either in or close to the centre of the city at a reasonable price.
Dirk's place was great for me and matched my needs perfectly.
As for Dirk himself, well, you could not ask for a nicer host: friendly, courteous, helpful, informative, generous, knowledgeable. Dirk made my trip easy.
As a room to stay in, for a man without his family, this accommodation was ideal and I would recommend it.
As a host Dirk is very helpful and friendly. He really opens his house to you and one feels at home. I have appreciated the time he took to orientate me to Amsterdam which assited me in my explorations of the city.
1st AirBnB experience=major success! Couldn't be happier with my stay at Dirk's apartment. Satisfied with the accommodation (matches pictures online) and very appreciative of all the excellent tour guide advice Dirk gave me over my complimentary glass of wine! I loved the location of his apartment because it was 20-30 minutes (WALKING) from everything I wanted to sight-see: Anne Frank House (Jordaan District), Museums (Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk & Rembrandt House) & Dam Square. Felt safe walking around his neighborhood alone during day & night as well as sleeping in the shared apartment with Dirk and other AirBnB travelers in separate rooms.
The hospitality (free pass to all museums) and cost of the stay is such a steal! I recommend Dirk and will definitely stay in his apartment the next time I'm in Amsterdam!
