Huge Bedroom within walking distance from the Main Square. Excellent Wi-Fi connection, cable TV, hot water and Breakfast.

The Space

The house is a classic design 2 bedroom on a residential area in Cusco. It is bright and clean with hardwood floors. It is tastefully furnished and located in a well maintained residential area of Cusco. This is a pet and family friendly area.
The guest master bedroom is offered for 2 day minimum stays. You'll be enjoying a lovely room on the first floor, which includes a private room and a large closet. The space is fully furnished with a full sized queen bed, cotton linens, cotton towels, closet, hangers, shelving, lighting, a table that can be used as a desk and chairs. In addition, you'll also have access to the rest of the house space--kitchen, bathroom, living room, dining area, and patio.
Your room is very large, it has a large window facing north and east and t is furnished. It is intended for couples but it is large enough to accommodate an extra single bed for a third person.
The kitchen is vintage style and it is available for light cooking upon request. It is well equipped with a gas range and aluminum sink. The microwave and fridge are newer. The refrigerator is huge so storing your food should not be a problem. There is no automatic dishwasher.
The living room is large and comfortably furnished.
High speed wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available throughout the entire place. Utilities are included and respectful use of power is requested (e.g. turn off the lights in your room when you're going to be out).
Houses in Cusco are not steam heated but all rooms have curtains and I provide cotton sheets, two alpaca blankets, a feeder comforter and an extra cotton blanket per bed, for extra warm at night. Temperatures drop at night, but it never gets too cold like in other countries.
The bathroom is right outside facing the bedroom. High pressure hot water shower is available 24/7 in the shower and in the sink. I will always provide towels.

Interaction with Guests

My reviews speak loud and therefore you could have a sense of how comfortable you would be by staying in my house. I am careful at not invading your personal space and privacy and therefore, after our initial informative meeting at check-in time I try to not interfere too much so you could feel at home and comfortable. However I take care of my guests and their comfort and if they need anything I try to help as much as I can within my possibilities. I live in the house, so I am available for whatever you may need.
For those in need of touristic option (including Machu Picchu) I offer a guide and provide help getting everything ready for you. Simply requested it from me, if this is your case, prior or right after your arrival date.
Breakfast is yummy. I provide with an American Breakfast served around 8am, daily (coffee, tea, herbal teas, omelets, local bread, juice made of local fruits), butter and marmalade. I often like to add something different to it and occasionally I like to switch the omelets for a fruit salad with yogurt and honey.

If needed please note that you will have to pay me, upon arrival, the cost for the ride.
The price is USD 20.00 USD

The Neighborhood

The house is in a cul-de-sac, therefore it is super safe. Not that the neighborhood is not safe, but it feel just extra safer having to access a gate to enter in the street in which my house is located.
My house is not right in the busy touristic center but neither too far, it is just six blocks away (walking distance). If you are like many of my previous guests, living in this part of the city will make you feel more “involved” in real local life than if you were to stay in a crowed youth hostel near Plaza de Armas. As well, there are plenty of places all the same, for tourists who like to drink beers and go to Starbucks for coffee. .
There are two supermarkets half a block away from the house, and plenty of local businesses (pharmacies, bakeries, restaurants).

Getting around

I will provide you with a detailed sheet of directions (in English and Spanish) to get to my place. The airport is only 10 minutes by taxi from my house. The bus station is 8 minutes away by taxi.
PICK UP FROM THE AIRPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTRA CHARGE. Please check with me and provide your flight information.
A taxi from the airport should cost between 15 to 25 soles, but always inquire around and bargain the price down if possible. Prices vary considerably from person to person.
A taxi from the bus station should cost around 6 soles.
Please note these prices are for up to 2 or 3 people. Larger groups incur in higher prices.

The currency in Peru is EL NUEVO SOL. The exchange rate is approximately USD 1= S/. 2.77 If you bring American dollars or Euros, do not exchange them in airports or banks. Their exchange rate will be lower of what you could get in the streets, here in Cusco. However, and this is important, if you bring US dollars, make sure you bring NEW BILLS. All damaged or broken bills won’t be accepted in Cusco

  • We absolutely loved staying with Monica. Her home is clean, cozy and colorful, and conveniently located. Monica went out of her way to help us out whenever there was something we needed, and she was very friendly and humoristic. The breakfast was delicious and even her cat was lovely and cute. We would definitely come again and can highly recommend this place to anyone!

  • We loved staying at Monica's! The house was on a quiet, gated street, an easy fifteen minute walk from the Plaza de Armas; but the local neighbourhood was lively with lots of street life, plenty of supermarkets, a place to get laundry done and a fantastic café. (Monica provides you with a map when you arrive). The room was large, comfortable, with lots of storage space, and felt very homely. Wifi was really good. We could also use the sitting room, and the kitchen to make hot drinks, a sandwich etc. if we wished. The nicest thing about our stay was breakfast chats with Monica and the other guest (there is also one single room available in the house) - Monica is very giving of her time, and very helpful and caring of her guests. It was a pleasure to meet her. We also loved Valentina, the cat! Highly recommend.

  • My boyfriend and I had such a lovely time here, Monica is the perfect host and helped us organise our Machu Picchu visit and arranged a great Sacred Valley tour for us also. Breakfast every morning was good and filling, I thought the location was ideal (10 minute walk to the Plaza) and there was even a friendly cat! Highly recommended!

  • Monica was a lovely host. She welcomed us with a cup of tea and gave us a hand drawn map of Cusco which was very helpful! Her breakfasts were filling and delicious too.

The bed is large, warm and really comfortable. The hot shower was welcome in the Cusco cold!

Monica herself was very helpful and always willing to answer any questions we had. Thanks for a great stay!

  • We loved our stay at Monica's! Upon arrival Monica gave us maca tea to help us get acclimated, along with maps and directions. She also patiently answered all our questions. Her home is comfy, very clean and close to a grocery store and the main center. Our bed was cozy and relaxing, just as the photo indicates. The bathroom is a little small but adequate. Monica even helped us after our stay with some medical attention we needed in Cusco. Breakfast was wonderful!!! Great coffee, fresh juice and breads and eggs. Thanks for a wonderful stay Monica-we very much enjoyed our stay and our last breakfast conversation!!

  • Monica is an amazing host and person. She goes beyond what is expected of a host. We had several problems with train tickets to Machu Picchu and she came with us to the station to sort out the problem. She is amazing! The house is super clean and our bed was so comfortable. The room was huge. The breakfast was great, an omelette with bread and fresh fruits smoothies. After trying maizmorra morada con arroz con leche in the street, Monica made us her arroz con leche and it was incredible. Monica is so friendly and really makes you feel at home. Thank you so much for incredible stay in Cuzco!

  • I had two nights at a hostel and then a few nights here at the airbnb. I was very disappointed in how far away from the plaza it was and how scary/sketchy the area was. I would not recommend staying here on that basis alone. Unless you like to be far away from the action. Also, I felt pretty uncomfortable here due to a few factors. First, I was given a hand towel as my towel, anytime I used the bathroom to shower or whatever, the host came in almost immediately and cleaned it. Also, the first day her cat she was sitting jumped up and scratched my legs drawing blood. I grabbed it as the mother at the nape would and the host yelled at me. This host has a ton of rules and I think she must have had some prior bad experiences but I feel now she is a bit OCD about things.

  • We had good time at Monica's place. The room was big and quiet! Monica gave us a map with tips for what we might need during our stay. We could also leave our luggage for few more days after we left for a mountain trip. Only little misunderstanding with booking which cost us spending more time to search for other place.

  • Everything was very smooth with Monica. She helped us out with anything we needed. The room is massive. Breakfast was great. Very enjoyable stay.
