The house is a classic design 2 bedroom on a residential area in Cusco. It is bright and clean with hardwood floors. It is tastefully furnished and located in a well maintained residential area of Cusco. This is a pet and family friendly area.
The guest master bedroom is offered for 2 day minimum stays. You'll be enjoying a lovely room on the first floor, which includes a private room and a large closet. The space is fully furnished with a full sized queen bed, cotton linens, cotton towels, closet, hangers, shelving, lighting, a table that can be used as a desk and chairs. In addition, you'll also have access to the rest of the house space--kitchen, bathroom, living room, dining area, and patio.
Your room is very large, it has a large window facing north and east and t is furnished. It is intended for couples but it is large enough to accommodate an extra single bed for a third person.
The kitchen is vintage style, and it is well equipped with a gas range and aluminum sink. The microwave and fridge are newer. The refrigerator is huge so storing your food should not be a problem. There is no automatic dishwasher.
The living room is large and comfortably furnished.
High speed wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available throughout the entire place. Utilities are included and respectful use of power is requested (e.g. turn off the lights in your room when you're going to be out).
Houses in Cusco are not steam heated but all rooms have curtains and I provide cotton sheets, two alpaca blankets, a feeder comforter and an extra cotton blanket per bed, for extra warm at night. Temperatures drop at night, but it never gets too cold like in other countries.
The bathroom is right outside facing the bedroom. High pressure hot water shower is available 24/7 in the shower and in the sink. I will always provide towels.
My reviews speak loud and therefore you could have a sense of how comfortable you would be by staying in my house. I am careful at not invading your personal space and privacy and therefore, after our initial informative meeting at check-in time I try to not interfere too much so you could feel at home and comfortable. However I take care of my guests and their comfort and if they need anything I try to help as much as I can within my possibilities. I live in the house, so I am available for whatever you may need.
For those in need of touristic option (including Machu Picchu) I offer a guide and provide help getting everything ready for you. Simply requested it from me, if this is your case, prior or right after your arrival date.
Breakfast is yummy. I provide with an American Breakfast served around 8am, daily (coffee, tea, herbal teas, omelets, local bread, juice made of local fruits), butter and marmalade. I often like to add something different to it and occasionally I like to switch the omelets for a fruit salad with yogurt and honey.
If you need pick up from the airport, let me know. I provide with detailed information with the directions to my house, but often, I received this type of requests. Coming to a foreign city like Cusco could be anxiety provoking to some and therefore I understand if you request that I go to pick you up. Simply provide me with your flight company, arrival time and I will be there. Please note that you will have to pay for taxi going there and coming back from the airport (approximately USD $15).
The house is in a cul-de-sac, therefore it is super safe. Not that the neighborhood is not safe, but it feel just extra safer having to access a gate to enter in the street in which my house is located.
My house is not right in the busy touristic center but neither too far, it is just six blocks away (walking distance). If you are like many of my previous guests, living in this part of the city will make you feel more “involved” in real local life than if you were to stay in a crowed youth hostel near Plaza de Armas. As well, there are plenty of places all the same, for tourists who like to drink beers and go to Starbucks for coffee. .
There are two supermarkets half a block away from the house, and plenty of local businesses (pharmacies, bakeries, restaurants).
I will provide you with a detailed sheet of directions (in English and Spanish) to get to my place. The airport is only 10 minutes by taxi from my house. The bus station is 8 minutes away by taxi.
A taxi from the airport should cost between 15 to 25 soles, but always inquire around and bargain the price down if possible. Prices vary considerably from person to person.
A taxi from the bus station should cost around 6 soles.
Please note these prices are for up to 2 or 3 people. Larger groups incur in higher prices.
Check my other listings, thanks!
Monica is an amazing host and person. She goes beyond what is expected of a host. We had several problems with train tickets to Machu Picchu and she came with us to the station to sort out the problem. She is amazing! The house is super clean and our bed was so comfortable. The room was huge. The breakfast was great, an omelette with bread and fresh fruits smoothies. After trying maizmorra morada con arroz con leche in the street, Monica made us her arroz con leche and it was incredible. Monica is so friendly and really makes you feel at home. Thank you so much for incredible stay in Cuzco!
I had two nights at a hostel and then a few nights here at the airbnb. I was very disappointed in how far away from the plaza it was and how scary/sketchy the area was. I would not recommend staying here on that basis alone. Unless you like to be far away from the action. Also, I felt pretty uncomfortable here due to a few factors. First, I was given a hand towel as my towel, anytime I used the bathroom to shower or whatever, the host came in almost immediately and cleaned it. Also, the first day her cat she was sitting jumped up and scratched my legs drawing blood. I grabbed it as the mother at the nape would and the host yelled at me. This host has a ton of rules and I think she must have had some prior bad experiences but I feel now she is a bit OCD about things.
We had good time at Monica's place. The room was big and quiet! Monica gave us a map with tips for what we might need during our stay. We could also leave our luggage for few more days after we left for a mountain trip. Only little misunderstanding with booking which cost us spending more time to search for other place.
Everything was very smooth with Monica. She helped us out with anything we needed. The room is massive. Breakfast was great. Very enjoyable stay.
Monica saved us. I'm not kidding. Imagine flying all the way to Cusco only to find out that tickets to Machu Picchu on your desired date of travel are completely SOLD OUT! This happened to my husband and I. We were devastated that we'd traveled all this way & would miss MP, & also really sick from the altitude.
Monica's instructions: "Please have the coca tea, rest for a while & I will contact a friend to see what's possible." When we woke up, Monica explained that special tickets to MP (included the mountain) had not been sold out. While we were resting she'd gathered information about these tickets, peru rail options, etc. With Monica's wonderful help, we were able to book all of this for us at a cost much less than what we would've been able to secure from the US. She saved our trip!!
Monica's place was comfortable, secure & clean. She also prepares an amazing breakfast! If you're looking for a place in Cusco, do not hesitate to book here!
Thanks soooo much for all of your help, Monica!!
Monica was a wonderful host to my mother and me as we traveled to Cuzco. She was flexible with our very early arrival and welcomed us with a coca tea to ease the altitude. Shower was warm, bed was cozy, cat was friendly, breakfast was delicious, and Monica herself was friendly, helpful, welcoming, and kind. In short the experience was nothing but positive and I highly recommend her to any travelers. Thanks again Monica!
Monica offers a delightful and cozy place to stay in Cusco! We booked with her to start our trip to Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. She offered many useful tips, delicious breakfasts, and a relaxing place to acclimate to the altitude. She was also particularly helpful in helping us arrange entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, as well as train and bus rides before leaving the States. Thanks so much Monica.
Monica was a great host and she really us feel as if we were staying in someone's home rather than a guesthouse.
As soon as we arrived she made us coca tea and gave us a map with useful directions. Monica even cooked us breakfast at 5am before we left for the Inca Trail.
Her home is further out than a lot of accommodation but it's actually really nice to see a bit more of the 'real Cusco'.
She also has the most friendly cat!
We had a great stay at Monicas house!!! It was by far better than anybody could expect!!!
The reccomendations she gave us about Cusco were accurate and very useful. Furthermore, she prepared every morning a very delicious breakfast and stayed with us, talking and making sure that everything is ok!!!
She has a very clean house and an even more accomodating bed!!!
We have been so happy staying at er lovely house and plan to do it in the future!!!
Highly reccomended place at Cusco!!!
Monica was warm, comfortable, informative and always willing to offer suggestions of what to do while we were staying in Cusco. Monica was the perfect introduction to Peru and helped prepare us for our trek to Machu Picchu. We cannot thank her enough to making us feel relaxed and at home.
Thank you Monica
