LAWRENCEVILLE is a wonderful, walkable, super-convenient neighborhood where you will enjoy exploring all it has to offer. It seems like every day another new venue is added to the eclectic mix of shops, upscale restaurants, down-home pubs, craft breweries, live performance space, coffee shops, gourmet bakeries, vintage furniture and one-of-a-kind clothing boutiques, galleries and of course its historic, turn-of-the-century architecture.

You are 10 minutes from just about everything: downtown, Carnegie Meilon, University of Pittsburgh and Oakland's Medical Center (UPMC, West Penn, Allegheny General and Shadyside Hospitals); The Carnegie Museum of Art, the Warhol; Heinz History Center, Rivers Casino, PNC Park and Heinz Field; 15 minutes to (website hidden) headquarters in Bakery Square and Pittsburgh High Technology Corrider, and around the corner from the famed Strip District (a food lovers paradise), Children’s Hospital, Carnegie Robotics and the National Robotics Engineering Center.

Interaction with Guests

You will be greeted by me or my partner Art (or both!) We will help you with your bags, go through the apartment and the Welcome Book and generally help to get you settled. The Neighborhood

Lawrenceville is a fresh and lively neighborhood with great creative energy. It is located 10 minutes from downtown and 10 minutes from CMU, Pitt and the Oakland Medical Center. Built at the turn of the century for new immigrants working in the mills,"Larryville," as it is affectionately called, is a showplace for vital, progressive Pittsburgh. New residents are drawn to the character and charm of its affordable housing, its unusual mix of one-of-a-kind shops and galleries (from vintage clothing to high-end designer); its eclectic cafes, bakeries, and restaurants ranging from adventuresome and award winning to ethnic mom & pops and old-time watering holes serving famous fish sandwiches since 1944. What folks love about Lawrenceville is that it's REAL--it hasn't been "yuppified." You can see and feel the reality of its industrial past while surrounded by the lively, stimulating creativity of Lawrenceville today.

Getting around

You are one block from very convenient bus transportation to all parts of the city. You'll fine bus schedules and lots of other brochures in a basket on the living room table.

  • Connie is great. She was able to squeeze me in at short notice and was a friendly, knowledgeable host. The space and location are unbeatable. I wish I could stay longer. Do not hesitate to book.

  • Connie's place was absolutely fantastic. It was in an up and coming part of town with bars, coffee shops, and restaurants all within walking distance. The place itself was adorable and my girlfriend and I loved the decorations and the size of the apartment. We both want Connie to decorate our place now. Also, the bed is extremely comfortable.

Connie was a great host and she was extremely accommodating in making sure that our stay was pleasant. We would definitely recommend her to anyone thinking about visiting the Burgh.

  • We really enjoyed the month at Connie's apartment. IT is well appointed with everything we needed and it is conveniently located in a nice section of Pittsburgh (we walked all over the city from Shadyside to downtown). Connie and Art were wonderful hosts and answered questions. Finally, the apartment is very clean and just as it appears in the photos. We wouldn't hesitate to rent it again.

  • Connie was an amazing host. She made sure I had everything I needed. The place is just as picture very clean and homey. Lawrenceville is a great area with pubs, restaurants and boutiques all within walking distance. I highly recommend staying with Connie.

  • Can't say enough about Connie's apartment in Lawrenceville - we had a fantastic stay. The apartment is gorgeous, it has everything you could need, including a lovely little welcome pack of snacks and teas. Connie was very welcoming and helpful, and gave us great tips on things to do locally.
Great neighborhood, lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
A very comfortable and enjoyable place to stay in Pittsburgh.

  • I had a great stay. The apartment was well-equipped, comfortable, and convenient. Connie's a blast - and super knowledgeable about local history and points of interest in the neighborhood. She she went out of her way to make sure that nothing was lacking. Thanks!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Pittsburgh. The apartment exceeded our expectations. The "welcome" guide with information on local sights and restaurants was extremely useful. Highly recommended!

  • This was the perfect place to stay for our week-long Pittsburgh relocation reconnaissance trip! We had everything we needed for our apartment search and for my husband's job networking needs. Plus, Lawrenceville is a great area - lots of walkable places to eat and a quick drive to other parts of the city! We appreciated the garage for keeping our rental car in pristine condition and the washer/dryer so we only had to pack enough clothes for a few days. I would highly recommend staying here!

  • Connie's place was perfect for a repeat visit to the University of Pittsburgh; it gave my daughter and me a chance to better explore the city. Right in the heart of "Larryville" and so close to the fun of the strip. Connie must have thought of every convenience (even a treadmill!) and idea for enjoying Pittsburgh. We tried several of her suggestions and had a ball. Hoping we have a reason to come back soon.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Connie's place IMMENSELY! From convenience to charm to comfort, this place has it all. I came away from this experience wanting to sing Lawrenceville's praises as well as my host's.
The location is beyond amazing. Using public transit, we were approximately 10 minutes from both Downtown via The Strip District and Oakland via Shadyside. It's just around the block from a bus stop that will take you to either place and the one headed downtown runs extremely frequently. We had expected to be using cabs, but it ended up just being more convenient to go the bus route.
This is an awesome pick for foodies like ourselves. Most of our grocery shopping was done right down the road in The Strip where we found all sorts of fresh produce, spice shops, meat markets, bakeries and a fish market/ grocery store where the owner not only stopped to chat with us, but even remembered our names when we came back later in the week. Just around the block is a wines and spirits store with a decent selection. If you prefer a traditional grocery store, there are also a few of those nearby. Connie has managed to stock pretty much any cookware, utensils and dishes you'd need. The Kaleidoscope Cafe within walking distance is also a must for anyone who loves reasonably priced gourmet delights. Any odds and ends can be picked up at the drug store that's practically next door.
I particularly enjoyed the scented soaps in the bathroom and the selection of cleaning supplies. The pictures are pretty accurate so you can see for yourself that the place is gorgeous. The bedroom was actually larger than I expected it to be and all of the furnishings, linens and towels were comfortable and soft. I highly recommend staying with Connie and would certainly do so again.

I am many things: an artist, a history buff, a preservationist, a restorer of old houses and the proud Mom of two grown daughters. My roots in Pittsburgh go back 4 generations. I am old enough to remember the smoke and soot of Pittsburgh past; its transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. We're clean, we're green, our downtown is thriving, our restaurants world class, our neighborhoods charming, invigorated by young creatives, techies and entrepreneurs. I love welcoming visitors to Pittsburgh–––I know the city well. I can help ease you into a new environment and help you make the most of your visit.
