  • We stayed a week at Casa Del Halcon [2 weeks in CR] and it was absolutely fantastic. The house is comfortable, clean, spacious and very quiet. The location is perfect, far from the noisy center of playa samara but at walking distance from the grocery and the bakery.

Hawk was present every time we needed him. We would love to come back.

    Highly recommended place to stay

  • Chris is a lovely guy and very helpful. This is living in the jungle and lounging in the hammocks with a cold beer watching the wildlife after a day at the beach is my heaven. A little rough around the edges but as I said - it's a jungle out there!!

  • Casa Del Halcon has a good location and a very nice pool to relax in after your busy day seeing Samara. Didn't see much of Chris during our stay, and was unable to utilize some of the other amenities right away, if at all- like how the stove or washer worked. However, once some of the minor kinks are ironed out, CDH will be an excellent choice!

  • Chris' house was great. It was a short distance outside of Samara which is a really great little beach town. The house itself had hammocks, a pool, and monkeys in the yard. The house itself was nice and clean. My wife and I were there on our honeymoon and it was a fantastic place to relax and just chill out. Chris lives in a house on the property and was around to answer questions but also gave us plenty of space to explore on our own. A great place to stay if you travel to Samara.

  • Casa del Halcon was lovely. Chris was onsite and available at all times. Super quiet and peaceful, given the 20 minute walk to town. We were a bit disappointed with the cleanliness, though our only complaint. Buena Vista Beach was a 5 minute walk and we had it to ourselves. Book Halcon, enjoy, and maybe recommend a good cleaning prior to arriving

    Response from Chris:

I wish to apologize if you felt the home was not up to
standards with the cleanliness. I would have been more than happy to have
the cleaner come through to address any of the issues you had at the time
if i had known. It can be difficult here in Costa Rica during dry season,
due to the lack of rain (2.5 months since the last fall) the dust levels
are higher than usual. I have voiced your message to my cleaning staff and
we will be stepping up our efforts. Safe journey my brother, Namaste

  • We were four students, the house was just perfect for our needs. Chris was a wonderful host, he was helpful and friendly when we had any problems.
The house itself is very nice located to different spots that are necessary for tourists. All three beaches are in bike/walking distance. A car is obviously not needed, but CR is still very hot, so if you have the possibility to rent one, do it!
Samara is a beautiful small town/village with very friendly locals and tourists.
The beaches are breathtaking. If you compare them to standard travel destinations as Florida or any other touristic parts of the world, you won't regret visiting the most beautiful country in southern America.

Thank You Chris and thank you Costa Rica for making our trip unforgettable!

  • Our family, 2 adults and 2 young boys, had a very positive experience at Casa Del Halcon.
Chris lives onsite and was always willing to accommodate our requests.
The house was perfect for our family and met our needs. It would be very hard to find a better place for the money.
The location is great for families or anyone who prefers or doesn't mind being a little farther away from the middle of town.

    Pura Vida!

  • We stayed with Chris for just over 2 week in Feb 2013. Chris is a lovely person and most gracious host. Despite being busy with property improvements he always took time to attend to our needs. We really appreciated that. The house is comfy and clean and provided all the necessities. We particularly liked our outdoor dining/lounging area. We spend many lazy mornings enjoying fresh brood Costa Rica coffee, still warm bread from bakery just down the road, local cheese and fresh tropical fruit. Chis has a few bikes for guest use and it proved to be a really good and fun way to get around Samara. The 3 beaches around the house are beautiful. We saw baby turtles trying to swim into the ocean on Buena Vista, a surfer doing some awesome stuff on the small one just behind the house over the rock, and Samara beach is fantastic for just chilling in one of the bars, or surfing, or swimming, or shell collecting or what ever it is that makes you happy. It was always good to come back to "our" house, cool of in the pool and then lounge in the warm tropical breeze. The peace and quite were fantastic. Pura vida.
Chris himself, Cris's house, its location and amenities were just what we needed, thank you again.

  • Chris was on vacation for practically the whole duration of our trip, but he made sure someone was there to help us out and welcome us (Mike, who's really nice). He also arranged for us to get 2 more bikes (from Kyle, another great guy) to ride around town. There was a problem with the pool, but he called someone to come and arrange it. The location of the house is great, because there are 3 beaches close by. Izquierda beach is realllly nice if you're looking for tranquility and you can still bathe, mostly at low tide. The house is convenient and the hammock really appreciated! The foliage around the house is nice and keeps the dust of the dry grounds away. It's a cozy little place to stay at.

Hola My name is Chris Hawk (Most friends call me Hawk). I'm originally from Canada but have been traveling extensively for the past 18yrs. I moved to Samara in 2012 and am very happy with this choice. Samara is a wonderful town with an incredible vibe where the locals, ex-pats and tourists all mingle effortlessly. I am a certified hatha yoga instructor and was working with an addictions retreat center here before finding this amazing property. I am open to working with anyone that would like yoga, pranayama (yogic breathing) or meditation classes. Wishing you an amazing adventure in samara - HAWK
