Christine and Gene's apartment was awesome! What a charming place...I felt like Little Red Riding Hood was going to knock on the door at any moment. Comfortable bed, good sheets, and the most welcoming private patio you've ever seen. The treats that she left for our arrival we're perfect! Such a nice touch! If you're looking for a rental in Arcata, look no further!
A perfect little place is just the description and reality we experienced! Christine and Gene are gracious hosts, even stocking the frig with wine upon arrival and milk for our coffee in the AM! Not to mention to fresh plums from their fruit trees. There home is located in central part of town where everything is easily accessible. Thank you Christine!
Christine was a very welcoming host. When we checked-in we discovered fresh bagels, fruit, French Roast coffee beans, and cream and sugar in the fridge! The little apartment is roomy, quiet and tastefully decorated with stone floors, tiled shower, lead pain windows, and a comfy bed. The private terrace provides a great place to sit for morning coffee or reading in the afternoon. If one us lucky like we were you will even see Hummingbirds feeding on the nasturtiums. The apartment is located within walking distance to downtown, and on a clear day offers great views of the bay as you ascend or descend the small hill. I had so much fun staying in the storybook house I often admired from the street while living in Arcata. This airbnb truly is the "a perfect little place in Arcata."
Christine and Gene left a note with all of the immediate instructions we would need. They also took the time to provide us with bagels, coffee and wine. They were also kind enough to send an email with the lock box number. This helped immensely because we had plans as soon as we arrived and no time to waste. This listing was better than advertised. I saw the pictures on the website and thought, I hope these are accurate. OMG! The pictures didn't do the apartment justice. My hubby and I LOVED this place. It was well cared for and amazing. I knew he loved it when he began bragging about it to his family and inviting them over to see it. The apartment it cute, perfect and worth the money. If I am ever in the area again, I will be calling Christine and Gene. They are a beautiful couple and excellent hosts. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Their location is perfect for anyone who has business at the college. Its also close to the center of town. I couldn't have done any better and highly recommend this listing to anyone who needs a place to stay in the area. You will not be disappointed at all.
Christine was a wonderful host and provided special little touches with bagels, fruit and coffee. The apt was perfect and was exactly how it was discribed on the website. The courtyard was a wonderful place catch a warm sunny afternoon read!
Christine and her husband, Gene are SO nice and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and taken care of. This was our second time staying at the apartment and it was just as wonderful as before. The apartment is beautiful, with great design details, the kitchen is large and has everything you need and the bed is super comfortable. Plus the outdoor seating area makes us feel like we are vacationing in Europe. Not too shabby. Thanks again Christine and Gene for having us and for being such wonderful hosts! See you again soon!

About the Host, Christine
My husband,Gene, and I are longtime partners in designing and building homes on the north coast. We met as students at Humboldt State University and stayed to make this community our home, raising our family here.
Some things we love to do: Gene is crazy about kite surfing, hunting for mushrooms, keeping our kitchen garden and little fruit orchard growing (do you need any lettuce? ...how about a nice plum, apple?) ... we both enjoy making dinner with friends, picking wild blackberries and huckleberries, impromptu picnics at the beach, mountaintop sleeping out for the meteor showers, sunset happy hours, canoeing, reading, going to plays, movies,(love Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep), live music, travel, any time spent with our grown kids and the World's 3 Most-Perfect grandsons. =^ )
