The space
GOOD STANDARD
Villa Tjolmen is a charming, older but well-maintained building with an archipelago character. It is located in a scenic location with lovely sea views. The rental property is a separate apartment that makes up the entire upper floor of the villa.
The rental apartment is newly renovated in a modern, classic style and most furniture is purchased in 2023/2024. Wooden floors throughout (except in the bathroom, which is fully tiled). It is possible to close off all rooms (sliding doors), but note that bedroom 1 is a walk-through room that needs to be passed to enter bedroom 2 and bedroom 3 is then reached via bedroom 2.
The kitchen is well-equipped - dishwasher is available! The beds are comfortable and luxurious - read more about them below.
The place is great for a couple or a family. Minimum age for children is 8 years. Booking can only be made for your own stay, not for others. We would like the person responsible for booking to be over 25 years of age. Please list all guests, including children, at the time of booking.
We ask guests to respect that smoking is completely prohibited - this applies both indoors and on the balcony/property. Animals are not allowed. This is because of the host's allergies.
FLOOR PLAN AND EQUIPMENT
The apartment is located on the top floor of the house and is accessed via a staircase that is shared with the apartment on the lower floor, but the rental apartment of course has its own lockable door.
When you get to the upper floor of the house, you will be greeted by a stairwell with hanging facilities and a cleaning cabinet.
Through the entrance door to the apartment, you will then enter the kitchen directly. Please note that Entry can only be through the kitchen, not through the bedroom.
The kitchen has a table and four chairs (additional chair is in the bedroom).
The kitchen is also equipped with:

Living room with sofa, armchair, coffee table and smart TV 46" and game console (PlayStation 3). There is also a bed (soft, 90 x 200 cm). In the living room, there are roller blinds for the larger windows.
The bathroom is accessed via the living room and is small but fresh. It is equipped with shower (no bathtub), toilet, sink and towel hanger. Hair dryer available!
Bedroom 1 with a single bed (90 x 200 cm with firm comfort). In this room, there is a large wardrobe and a nice reading chair with footstool and a small table. Blackout curtains are available! There is also an exit to a balcony with fantastic sea views.
The balcony is furnished in summer with two chairs, a bench and a table. Grill brand Weber - for charcoal/briquettes are available on the ground floor (and on the ground floor there are additional seats at a small table).
Bedroom 2 has a 180 cm wide and full-length double bed (consists of two composite 90 x 200 cm beds, firmness: medium.) There is also a small desk with chair and screen/TV. There's also a clothes rack and a bookshelf. Blackout curtains are available!
Via bedroom 2, you can reach a large dressing room with windows (called bedroom 3 in the pictures). The dressing room is thus like a private small room with a real door. There is a bed 90x200cm (soft), a chest of drawers for clothes storage and a small bedside table with lamp. No blackout curtain.

ABOUT THE BEDS
We want all guests to sleep well! The beds in bedrooms 1 and 2 are of newer model and good quality (spring bottoms dream deluxe and premium bed mattresses, purchased at the furniture store Mio.)
The beds in the living room and in the dressing room are also fresh beds, from Ikea with new comfort mattresses from Mio. These Ikea beds are full size but of a softer type and are therefore best suited for young people/children/lighter people.
POSSIBLE GUESTS
We want our guests to have a really nice and comfortable stay. Limitation in the number of guests (no more than 3 adults, maximum 5 people in total including children) therefore always applies. The maximum number is set based on factors such as the size of the rooms, seating in the living room and kitchen, available kitchen equipment, number of beds and capacity of the water heater. It is not allowed to bring extra mattresses or to use the sofa as a sleeping place. The kitchen is equipped with a dining area for four people but an extra chair is available in bedroom 2.
PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, the accommodation is not suitable for children under 8 years of age and is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or visually impaired people (due to safety risk with stairs without handrails, sliding doors, exit to balcony, contacts without pet protection, etc.).
Guest access
The rental apartment constitutes the entire upper floor of the house "Villa Tjolmen." The landlord sometimes lives in the second apartment on the lower floor.
SHEETS AND WASHING/DRYING FACILITIES
Sheets and towels for indoor use are included during the stay.
Drying rack for wet swimwear is available in the garden (or to pick up from the bicycle storage).
Laundry facilities are nearby, in Öckerö marina, for a fee (during the port season).
OUTDOOR AND SEA VIEW
The accommodation is located with the sea just on the other side of the road in front of the house. About a hundred meters behind the house is the nearest rock pool with a swimming ladder and smooth rocks to sunbathe on. A few hundred meters in the other direction, there is a swimming area with a small beach and jetty. Swimming lessons are held here some high summer weeks! (There are many nice swimming areas even on nearby islands!).
From the balcony and both bedrooms, there is a great sea view over Hälsö harbor and the fjord between Björkö and Hälsö. There is also a glimpse of the sea in the other direction from the kitchen.
The plot on the front of the property has a large, flat lawn and some stonework. This part of the property is welcome to be used by the tenants! In summer, there is a small seating area and Weber kettle grill for guests' own use. (The back of the property and its balconies are for the landlord's private use).
PARKING
Free parking on the street in front of the property (on
the opposite side of the house). There is also parking in Hälsö harbor.
BICYCLES
At least two bicycles (simpler model of men's and women's bicycle) are available to borrow free of charge for the duration of your stay (only in the summer)! If you plan to use the bicycles, please let us know at the time of booking so we remember to provide them for you. Locks for the bikes are available, but bring your own bike helmets.

Swimming school is organized at Tjolmenbadet some high summer weeks. Many more nice swimming areas are available both on Hälsö and nearby islands. If you are looking for diving boards, we can recommend going to Källö-Knippla or Fotö. The best sandy beach is on Hyppeln.
Wood-fired sauna with bathing ladder is available for rent on the outside of Hälsö harbor (Bastholmen).

A stone's throw from the apartment is the restaurant Hälsö Brygga (#4 on the map in the last picture). There is also miniature golf.
More nice restaurants are on nearby islands. Pharmacies (medicines and hygiene products) are located in Öckerö, about 3 km away. Systembolag (for the purchase of alcoholic beverages) is located near the ferry terminal on Hönö. Bakery is located in Hönö Klåva (Hönö's harbor). In Hönö Klåva there are also interior design stores, clothing stores, shoe store, fishing museum and more.
NEARBY ISLANDS
Hälsö is one of ten islands in Öckerö municipality. The nearby islands of Hönö, Öckerö and Fotö are accessible by car/bicycle via bridges. To Hyppeln, Källö-Knippa and Rörö, there is a free car and passenger ferry from Burö ferry location on northern Hälsö. On all the above-mentioned islands, there are restaurants and cafés (varying opening hours in low season, however). Kayak rentals are available on Rörö for your own trips. From Hälsö, there are arranged kayak tours where kayak rental is included. Various sea fishing trips, seal safari and more are available from Hönö.
To Kalvsund, Björkö and Grötö, there is a toll passenger ferry from Öckerö ferry dock.

GETTING
to which Hälsö is part of Öckerö municipality in Gothenburg's northern archipelago. There is a free car and person ferry from Lilla Varholmen (western Gothenburg) By car from central Gothenburg, it takes about 40 minutes here (including ferry), take road 155 towards Öckerö. It is also possible to go public with Västtrafik. Bus stops right outside and takes just under an hour into central Gothenburg (including ferry).
Gothenburg's northern archipelago is a fantastic part of Bohuslän. Smooth rocks, salty baths and freshly cooked seafood! But a little calmer and not as crowded as, for example, Smögen and Grebbestad. Here you can take the morning swim in peace and may not always need to book a table for lunch at a restaurant!
Villa Tjolmen is a good starting point for many nice excursions and experiences! There are plenty of nice baths, nature reserves, climbing opportunities (bouldering), hiking trails (Gothenburg archipelago trail in three stages), fishing spots and nice restaurants and cafes a short walk, bike ride or ferry away. Or how about an seal safari?
The nearest restaurant is Hälsö pier a stone's throw from the property, in Hälsö harbor. In the guest harbour there is also the summertime ice cream café Våffelhamnen and the convenience store Hamnbutiken. There is also miniature golf. Behind the harbour there is a wood-fired sauna with a sauna ladder, for rent. Stroll among the sailing boats and eat a good ice cream from The Lion & the Bear!

Hälsö is an island where nature experiences are in focus - but where you can also treat yourself to a good dinner at a restaurant! Here you can enjoy fine harbour walks in narrow alleys with classic archipelago villas and miles of sea views from winding walkways.
On the island there are also ancient remains, mainly stone circles from temporary fishing camps. Along with the whole island there are cliffs and some beaches perfect for sunbathing and swimming. There is a lovely exercise loop of a few kilometers through deciduous forests and along the sea. Make sure to take a detour up to the vantage point on Hälsö peak - with views from Vinga in one direction, to Skagen lighthouse and Marstrand if you turn the other way.

Hello, I am Jenny and I own Villa Tjolmen together with my husband Joakim. We live everyday in Stockholm but Hälsö is our paradise for change and relaxation. There is no other place where I would rather take my morning bath or evening walk! By renting out the upstairs in our villa sometimes we hope that more people will enjoy this archipelago idyll near Gothenburg!
