I love the fact that the sea/beach , pool , shops and bars are all within a short walk.
There is a free taxi service on the key and a number 11 bus stop at corner of Midnight Pass Road and Stickney Point Road that will take you into Sarasota . ( 5 mins from the studio.)
Association rules prohibit pets of any sort. We do not allow smoking inside. There is an outside area through the back door where guests can smoke.
The studio and location were perfect. It is a quick walk to the beach and the pool was very clean and relaxing. Full kitchen and bathroom. They provided towels and lounging chairs and umbrellas for the beach. The shopping/bar area is about 2 miles north of the beach. We had bikes so just rode over. But there are a few restaurants near the studio. Great check in process and the host was responsive with any questions.
We had a great time staying at Derek's place in Siesta Key! It was perfect and exactly what we were looking for! And a huge bonus for us was to have Verizon Fios on a nice tv with HD service. Not that we were in the apartment a lot, but when we were, it was a really great set up to have (especially when it rained!) we would absolutely come back and stay here again!
Host had good communication throughout booking and our stay. There was a disappointing mix-up in the beginning as he indicated that the rate listed on the site was not the accurate rate. It ended up being a little more than what was listed but given the location and still relatively low price, we accepted.
The draw to this studio is definitely the location and value. It's just a short walk to the pool and/or beach. There is a convenience store and a few restaurants and bars within a couple blocks. There is a really great fish market across the street called Big Water Fish Market. The condo has all the basics you need to prepare a home cooked meal, so we picked up fresh seafood each night.
Derek also provided towels, beach chairs and umbrellas (as advertised), which definitely came in handy. Overall, we felt this was a good choice for our visit and would recommend it for anyone looking for a good value in Siesta Key.
So glad you liked the studio and the location and thank you for your kind words. We hope to host you again soon.
Sorry about the rate mix up. The Airbnb system does not allow us to display all rates. You requested 2 nights stay through their system and they gave you the weekly pro rata rate. Unfortunately we cannot give the same rate for 2 days as our cleaning costs etc are the same for 2 nights as for 7 nights. We have brought this problem to the attention of Airbnb but nothing has been done about it yet.
Even though the weather didn't cooperate, Derek's place was a nice place to keep us dry. It had everything we needed and a great location. Would recommend to anyone. Fair warning, if there is substantial rain, the path to the main entrance floods considerably with standing water to your ankles.
We enjoyed our stay. The studio was exactly as advertised, with good beach access and short walks to good restaurants. Derek was a proactive communicator and provided clear directions on how to access the unit and its amenities.
We had a wonderful time in Siesta Key at Derek's studio. Derek emailed us the instructions which made check-in very easy. It looked like the photographs. The outdoor space was more than I had expected and came equipped with a barbeque, lounging chairs, a nice round table with 2 more chairs, and then the chairs and toys for the beach. We had everything we needed. The studio was clean.
It was a fantastic location with shops across the street for supplies. Perhaps it was the comfortable bed that put me into a deep sleep but I was NOT disturbed by any traffic noise as one reviewer had mentioned.
The pool and beach were literally a stones throw away. It was not a problem to carry our chairs to the beach.
The shower had two heads - one was attached and the other a hand held. Unfortunately, the hand held shower head didn't work which was a disappointment because my husband is over 6 feet and had to squat to fit under the attached shower. Not a big deal but worth mentioning in case it was not known.
We also noticed that the area outside the studio tended to flood when the storms came through. Where ever the drain was it didn't work. So a couple of times we had to wade through the water to get out. Again, just something worth mentioning.
Apart from those two minor things, we would definitely recommend the studio to a couple on a beach budget.
Dear Sonia, Thank you for your kind words about our studio. We did not know the shower attachment does not work. We will attend to that. The problem with the minor flooding after a big storm is not a drain issue but a Midnight Pass Road issue. The road is higher and so the water has to drain into the ground. It does so fairly quickly. We hope to host you again soon.
Derek was attentive and responsive to all of my questions and provided accurate information throughout. The photos of the property provided a good representation of what to expect. Overall, Derek delivered on everything he said he would.
