If you're seeking a space where you will feel welcome immediately upon walking through the door, this is it. Dong and Narelle make a great team to host guests. We really enjoyed chatting over tea with them about Hanoi, Vietnam and travels. Dong has people renting out her home for extended stays in Vietnam, so we met folks from Germany, Denmark, England, Australia and of course Vietnam during our 4 day stay. Everyone was friendly and jolly. We laughed and shared stories and food. Ngoc is a fantastic cook and keeps the place spotless! Dong arranged a cooking class taught by Ngoc. We had a ball and learned 2 classic Hanoian recipes. They took photos and we all had a grand ol time! We enjoyed ourselves so much we extended our stay another night.
Dong and Narelle also set up our Ha Long Bay tour, answering our every question about the tour options.
We loved staying in a quieter area of Hanoi with a more neighborhood feel. Beautiful lakes, parks, and museums are within walking distance. Hoan Kiem Lake and the old quarter are a bit further, but walking is such a wonderful way to take in the city, so we walked 3 times that far most days.
If we return to Hanoi, we will most definitely return to this warm, welcoming household! You will not regret a stay at this airbnb.
I had a lovely stay here! It was nice coming home to a welcoming atmosphere and a comfortable house (with a tiny dog!). Dong and Narelle were amazingly helpful with everything you can imagine: figuring out the Hanoi bus system, recommending restaurants and a neat local movie theater, feeding us when we got sick for two days, and even calling landlords for us while we apartment hunted. The house is on a great side street full of cute cafes and a bakery that now knows me by name. I highly recommend staying here - it's central to Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter and has so much more character and support than a hotel. Thank you for a great stay!
We wish to thank Dong and Narelle for their great hospitality. Not only is the flat perfect (see comments by other guests) but Dong and Narelle took great care of us. For instance, we arrived very early in the morning on the first day so, while the previous guests were checking out and the flat was being cleaned, Dong invited us for a breakfast at her other place. Then Narelle drove us by cab to the flat when it was ready. Also, on the last day, we had a very late flight back to home and Dong made no problem for us to stay until 8pm at the flat given that it was free. She also booked the taxi for us. We are very grateful for this. Regarding the flat, it is perfectly organised and thoughtfully furnished. Dong obvously paid great attention to small details (plenty of plates and dishes, plenty of hangers, detergent for the washing machine,...), which greatly helped to make us feel totally at home. The heating works great and the bed is quite comfortable. It was great value for money and I cannot imagine staying elsewhere, should I retrun to Ha Noi.
We spent 13 nights at the apartment and we can't say enough nice things about Dong and Narelle. They both went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our time in Hanoi. The apartment is large with a nice big shower. We also took advantage of the washer/dryer downstairs. The apartment was well situated near St Joseph's cathedral so we could walk just about everywhere we wanted to go in the city. We enjoyed being on an active street that had tons of street food (Pho 10, the fried nem / pilowcakes and the bahn mi cart across the street are all great). However, since the street is active it can be pretty loud at night. If you are someone that needs total silence to sleep this might not be the best location for you....however I am not sure there is every silence in Hanoi! If you are planning a side trip to Halong Bay you can get that all worked out with Dong & Narelle. Plus they will organize all of your airport transportation which makes things very easy. Our taxi ride to the airport was a wild ride to say the least!
What an incredible stay with two incredible women!! Norelle and M. Dong took such great care of us. Their 5 story newly renovated home is clean and so comfortable. We got a full floor to ourselves- master bedroom, bath and towels provided. Kitchen available and they truly want you to feel a part of the family. In walking distance of everything. Will not stay anywhere else when returning to Hanoi!
We had a lovely cruise in Halong Bay organised by Nguen Ha Dong's Travel agency. We arrived to great weather which was a great surprise after a few dreary days in Hanoi. The boat was very clean and the rooms had a real luxury feel to them. On arrival we were greeted with a fantastic lunch that was extremely well catered for our dietary requirement. Dong made sure that the crew were well informed that we were vegans and the food that they produced for us was really tasty. On the first day we cruised into the bay and did an hour of kayaking near a fishing village. The lime stone karst formations were incredibly beautiful, there is really no place on earth quite like it. After kayaking we went on a tour of "the amazing cave" You could miss this and have more time to appreciate the scenery. The landscape is much more amazing. After the cave we had some free time and then another wonderful meal followed by drinks on the top deck as we watched the sun set. The following day we had an early breakfast followed by a sail through the bay on the way back to the pier in Halong city. The only thing that I would change about my cruise would be to go for 2 nights as I think there is so much more to see in the bay! A great experience and not to be missed! 5 Stars!
We had a lovely stay at Ha Dong's home. Dong was generous and incredibly helpful! From making sure we knew where the best and cheapest supermarkets were to buying everything that she thought that we would need including a toaster and flat screen T.V!.
On our first night we had a Vietnamese feast of Spring Rolls, Bun (Vietnamese Rice Vermicelli) a mountain of fresh herbs and salad and fresh fruit. This was all cooked by the incredibly talented Ngoc who is also the cleaner.
The Home has a luxurious feel with five floors, each floor has a bathroom and four floors have a bathtub with hot water! We had two baths on the first day after not seeing one for nearly two months of travelling!
Located in the french quarter, the area is quiet but really convenient for the old quarter and only a 5-10 minute walk to Hoan Kiem lake. The nearest supermarket was less than ten minutes walk and has everything you need if like us you were saving money by cooking your own meals. The kitchen was well equipped with new knives and pans and lots of space in the fridge for groceries.
After our stay Dong helped us to book a trip to Halong Bay. She also has a travel shop near St Joseph's Cathedral called Dong's travels and was very helpful finding a tour that suited our needs and budget.
Great experience and we will definitely be staying here again if we are ever back in Hanoi!
I had a very pleasant stay at this apartment, me and my family.
The location is fantastic.
The facilities are ok, don't expect too much and you can't be disappointed (everything works well, from the wifi to the washing machine!)
If you are a bit afraid of the cold, I would recommend not to go there during cold days, there is no central heating system...
HOWEVER, ms Dong and Narelle have been AMAZING hosts, always ready to help, and that is the nicest part of my stay!
The apartment, being across the road from St Joseph's Cathedral, is ideally situated for the majority of Hanoi's central sites . All amenities met our expectations, including a mobile phone in case of any problems, for which Dong was always on hand, if required.
We were particularly pleased by the secure nature of the flat, in such a city centre location.
This apartment was absolutely beautiful and a great sanctuary away from the hectic Hanoi traffic. It's also in a PERFECT location for exploring the city. Dong was a great host and helped us make our short trip in Hanoi memorable. The bed is super comfortable and she even bought us some food stuffs to eat for breakfast the next morning. It was so thoughtful to give us a vietnamese cell phone with her number in it. It really gave us peace of mind that we had someone to contact easily just in case. I will definitely be staying here again!
