About this listing
HELLO AND WELCOME!
Stay in a colourful, full of art condo, in the heart of Vancouver if you are open to sharing the space. Your private, king-bed room is maybe not huge but cozy. The white armoir, on the picture, would be for you. I would like to leave my belongings in the closet and on the shelves.
You can use the entire space and eventually an extra person could stay for an extra charge.
Most probably one more person (could be me) would be staying in the second bedroom, so remember that you will be sharing the space with other(s).
I am glad to help if you need information or tips on how to get around or what to do in Vancouver. I have an extra bike and you are welcome to use it since bicycle paths are great here and you can see a lot just biking around.
I am glad to offer you tea or coffee in the morning, the rest you will have to find in the store downstairs. It is a great Chinese market just below, which offers a big variety of yummy foods including sushi and dumplings. Next to it is an Italian restaurant, Starbucks and other coffee shops just across the street. I have a large balcony where you may find fresh tomatoes, parsley and green peas if you come before I eat them all. You are welcome to cook for yourself in my kitchen and use my spices.
LOCATION: The location is great: just in front of Stadium Sky-train (tube or subway) station, which means you can get here from the airport in about 45 minutes and save $35 on one way trip. If you are coming by car, I have a parking space for visitors. If you stay longer than 7 days, there will be a parking fee of $70/month.
AMENITIES: You are welcome to use the indoor pool, sauna, hot-tub, gym, and ping-pong table in the building and there is a large garden outside. The apartment has wireless internet. You can do your laundry using my in-suite washer & dryer, but under my supervision.
WHERE TO GO: You will be living 3 minutes away from Gastown, the historic part of Vancouver, where restaurants and bars are open until late. You will be at the gate of wonderful Chinatown and a few minutes walking distance from the business district. You are a 30 minute bus ride away from the mountains or the ferry terminal.
LANGUAGES: If you prefer to communicate in other languages, I also speak French, Polish, Spanish, Romanian, Hungarian, some Russian and German.
I have traveled to Asia, Europe and Africa, but I am always interested in your travel stories. I love meeting people and getting to know them.
If you play guitar, I would love you to play it. I may sing, but I the chances are rather small!
I would prefer you to be a woman, but a kind and considerate man would also be welcome to stay.
No smoking at home, but on the 3rd floor in the garden.
You are welcome to cook, but also to clean after yourself. Please do not use the dishwasher for now.
Before doing your laundry ask me how to use the dryer.(very important).
Izabela and I became fast friends after my first stay at her place 2 years ago. I enjoy her lovely home and presence every time I’m back for a visit. Conveniently located at one of the nearest SkyTrain stations, her home is always colorful, lively and welcoming with many paintings and artistic flourish. A genuinely open and caring person, I couldn’t ask for a wonderful host. This time, I invited a friend on board and Izabela was very accommodating to her early flight (as my flight was in the afternoon) into Vancouver.
Despite the food excursions I had during the day, we always found time to discuss anything and everything over a cup of tea or glass of wine. She has maps of the area available as well as recommended sites or events to explore.
Vancouver will always remain a second home to me. Every time I return, I’m always greeted with Izabela’s warm smiles, big hugs and a welcoming cup of tea. There are many wonderful Airbnb experiences and this is truly one of them!
The location is perfect!
Izabela wasn't there but everything was very well explained.
Izabela was a kind and gracious host. Her flat was colorful and fun and clean, and I enjoyed a very nice breakfast on the deck one morning. I also took advantage of the pool, weight room and sauna which was a great bonus!
Location is fantastic if you really want to be central. Steps away from Chinatown & Gastown and literally next to Stadium Sky Train station. I found this very convenient. There was another tenant in another room in the condo. Luckily, she was lovely. Having access to a pool & hot tub in the condo building was a definite bonus and I used it every day. Only downfall I felt was that it could have been cleaner (kitchen & bathroom) especially since there is a cleaning fee.
Izabela is an amazing host. I arrived at 1130pm and was greeted by freshly made apple crumble and green tea! Her apartment in downtown Vancouver close to chinatown, gastown, yaletown etc is small but perfectly suited to travellers. The complex also has a great swimming pool, hot tub and sauna which are v clean. There is the most amazing Chinese supermarket under the apartment block and one of the best restaurants in Van in Chmbras next door. The two sports stadiums are a 5 minute walk. The wifi in the apartment is fast, and kitchen and bathroom both good. A great place to stay in Vancouver close to all attractions and amenities. Thanks Izabela!!
My stay at Izabela's condo was complicated at best. Although while a great host, I was unfortunately subjected to property damage and psychotic, even safety-concerning behavior wrought by an additional tenant whom had moved in part way through my stay. Worse yet, I found it hard to get in text contact with Izabela throughout the beginning of the exchange, it often taking upwards of half a day just to get a response. Granted, this was through text messaging and I imagine if necessary, a call would've warranted better results.
Nevertheless, it's very clear that my stay was far from the norm based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and responses Izabela has received. And to some extent, I can't blame Izabela for what had transpired; as craziness isn't so easily detected.
As a perspective tenant, the only advice I can give is to keep in mind that during your stay, it's more than likely that you'll be sharing the space with an additional tenant.
I am sad to see that many of the statements are exaggerated and twisted.
For example: The “property damage” refers to an umbrella, which was left by Lauren in the bathtub and then folded wrongly by the second guest, which resulted in damage to the umbrella, however I replaced the umbrella with a new one and I assumed it was not a big issue.
Lauren treated the second guest with not much respect. She didn't bother to say hello or remember the other guest's name and as a result the situation became tens, but Lauren assumed no responsibility for the conflict she created.
I asked Lauren to call me from the land-line if there were any issues, since the text messages sometimes get delayed and it's the provider's fault (Fido) not mine. I had no idea that we had communication issue.
Lauren forced the other gust to look for a hotel and then she moved out as well, since someone offered her (probably free) accommodation. I gave refund to both of them, which I didn’t have to, but I did.
Shared accommodations require respecting other people around you. I think Airbnb gives us a great opportunity to learn how to enjoy our defrences, be kind and considerate. Luckily this was an unprecedented case.
I had a wonderful stay at Izabella's quaint little Condo. Over the month I had 5-6(?) different tenets. Iza wasn't there for the most of the time but I always had a network of people to assist me in the event I needed it. Rustic and VERY convenient as it's right in the downtown core I enjoyed my stay there. I would certainly recommend anyone to give her place a go for the price she offers. Great time there!

About the Host, Izabela
I am an artist/interior designer. I traveled a lot and love meeting new people. I really like when people feel at home here in my crowded/whimsy place, play guitar and sing.
