  • Sergio Salas was the nicest host you could ever hope for. I rented "The Best Spot in Town", aptly named, for 3 weeks and absolutely loved it. The location was perfect for me because I love the "Chorro" area, it's far enough from Centro to be nice and quiet and very beautiful, but close enough to easily walk downtown. Just thinking back on it makes me really wish I was back there right now! The view is great, you can see fireworks at night and the apt is spacious, clean, comfortable with some cool architectural features; perfect! The kitchen is great! I had stayed in another apt previously and it paled in comparison. Sergio went above and beyond the call of duty and helped me so much with a number of situations I won't bore you with, but he was quite generous with his time. He's very sweet. I'd give him and the apt 5 stars!

  • Sergio is a very kind host. Not very punctual but compensates with attention. This was the last available place of his listings so I think it's not his best but still great for a couple. I would recommend it specially in summer since San Miguel is kinda cold and the studio is a little bit cool. Do visit the town and listen to Sergio's advice as he'll direct you to the nicest places to visit. I'd definitely stay with him again though in a different apartment. Luckily he's got many.

  • We totally loved our "comfortable room in Casa Mexicana" and it was all that the description promised and more! We wanted a truly authentic Mexican experience and we got it! Casa Mexicana is in Bario San Luis Rey, a ten minute bus ride out of San Miguel; it's a typical Mexican neighbourhood, San Miguel style. The cobblestone streets are lined with plain, high, walls of stone or brick; each home has a wood or metal gate that opens into the courtyard and a different world.
Casa Mexicana is enchanting - the courtyard is sunny and bright, fragranced by orange blossom and features the biggest, healthiest agave I've ever seen. Table and chairs under the orange trees offer an inviting spot for any meal but we especially enjoyed breakfast out there. The house is charming - immaculately clean, tastefully furnished, with some very handsome older pieces. The "comfortable room" is on the second floor, up beautifully tiled terra cotta stairs which exit onto an exterior walkway, with wrought iron railings, pots of succulents, a bench for reading (or just dreaming) and another set of stairs to the roof, from which we enjoyed some spectacular sunsets. Our room was bright and welcoming; a double bed and a twin, both very comfortable; a small but delightful bathroom with a San Miguel "skylight" and colourful Mexican tilework that extended into the shower. A bonus was a closet - no having to live out of my suitcase!
Sergio was super helpful, he and his wife showed us around the neighhbourhood and made sure we knew where the stores were and how to use the bus system - the bus stop is literally right outside the door. We spent time in "Centro" enjoying the plaza, the church, the shops and the markets and museums. We took day trips to Guanajuato and Dolores Hidalgo and steeped ourselves in the history of these places - I could imagine that I was in the crowd outside the church in Dolores, in 1810, where Fray Hidalgo issued el Grito de Independencia! And when we returned "home", Sergio and his lovely wife were often there to help us as we tried to describe our adventures in Spanish. They were wonderful hosts, we have not one single complaint - except that we wish we'd booked for longer!

  • Upon arriving Sergio was very patient through out the whole checking in process as we arrived a little late. The house is absolutely perfect and very close to the historic center about a 5 minute walk. A huge patio entrance and a very charming kitchen and bedrooms!

The house has wonderful terraces and it is kept in impeccable conditions. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this location and could not have asked for a better host. Sergio made sure all of our needs were met and exceeded them. Plenty of fresh linens and clean white towels. The bathrooms all have modern fixtures and work perfectly.

If I were to come back to San Miguel, I would definitely contact Sergio. I greatly recommend this listing! Thanks Sergio!

  • I travelled to San Miguel with my dad and a good friend, Sheila; Sheila and I had never been to Mexico before.

Our experience with Sergio and at Casa Vainilla were very positive.

Before our arrival, I corresponded with Sergio via email, and he answered every email I sent him in a thorough and timely matter.
Upon arrival, Sergio met us at the bus station in San Miguel, where we followed his car (in our car) to get to the casita. I'm sure we would have gotten lost otherwise! He helped us get settled and then he gave us a short walking tour of San Miguel.

Sergio was just as lovely upon departure. He helped us with our bags and encouraged us to come back soon! You will not find a better host!

With regard to the casita, we stayed in 'Vainilla' and were very pleased with the cleanliness, décor, and location to the city centre. There were also little details that made the stay special (e.g. a CD of Mexican music left out for us to listen to, etc.) Our stay here was virtually problem-free!

I would certainly recommend 'Vainilla' to people traveling to San Miguel, and I would - without reservation - recommend working with Sergio to find a place to stay.

  • We made a last minute decision to go to San Miguel de Allende for New Years and after looking at several great options sent a message to Sergio. He was the perfect liaison, not only because of his super quick replies, but also because he really went out of his way to make sure we found a place in San Miguel that suited our needs and budget.
He and his wife greeted us at the property (no trouble finding it thanks to (website hidden) Maps) and we had a great and really comfortable stay that we won't easily forget. We loved the apartment, it was tastefully furnished and had every little detail taken care of (bathroom soap, clean towels, even drinking water!) Sergio was a very attentive host, was always reachable by phone and happy to help us wherever he could.
We can highly recommend both a visit to San Miguel and a stay with Sergio!

  • Sergio is the best. I stayed in San Miguel de Allende for one month and he found me an amazing place that happened to be available, so I got it for a fraction of the usual price. We really became friends and he is so personable and trustworthy and caring that I can't say enough good things about him. He is now working as a property manager and has places all over SMA available. He is attentive when you need something and an incredibly helpful person. For sure, go with Sergio!

  • My husband and I stayed in San Miguel de Allende for 5 days. We enjoyed this very much! Just want to give to Sergio my most sincere appreciation for his assistance, he was a great host to us!. We stayed in a very nice apartment in a great location! The space and privacy were a plus!! Very close to El Centro as this was important to us. He made this possible to us and we are very greatful to Sergio for this!. With no doubt, on our return to this magical town we will contact Sergio for our stay in San Miguel de Allende! Thank you Sergio for everything!

  • Sergio was a very conscientious and helpful host. We were upgraded from Magic villa to another very nice apartment near Centro at no extra cost. This other apartment was fully stocked with appliances, had a nice kitchen, and we were provided a few munchies to tied us over after we arrived. Overall, it was very comfortable. Included was a pool & weight room in the complex. It was furnished in an international/contemporary style. Sergio also provided a cell phone pre-loaded with his phone number, taxis, etc. He called a couple of times over the week to see how we were doing which was nice. Sergio was available to help us whenever needed! We had a very pleasant stay and hope to return to SMA soon!
