Addiston Mains is a home away from home and although it is really handy for the airport, city and travel to other parts of Scotland it retains a relaxing and comfortable country feel with a modern style. The many repeat visitors is testimony to that.
This is a beautifully and newly decorated double room or family room. It has an en-suite bathroom with over head shower. There is also a wet room close by. This is a ground floor room with easy access and in an attractive and secure courtyard setting. There is a large tv sitting room with bar and kitchen facilities which is for the sole use of our guests. This also has a rural and peaceful outlook. Separate and private entry to rooms from courtyard.
The property has a large well equipped gym and studio which is also available to guests.
Addiston Mains was a farm and is now a residential property tastefully refurbished. It is is nearly 200 hundred years old and used to be part of the Dalmahoy Estate. One of the present Lord's sons used to live here.
Guests would benefit from having a car and road and rail links are excellent from here for going to many nearby local attractions. The train link into the city takes only 9 mins from Edinburgh Park and truly makes this an ideal place to stay for access to the city and surrounding areas.
The park and ride is 1 mile from Addiston Mains for easy bus travel.
The airport is only a few minutes drive away- really!
This is a peaceful place with loads to do very close by including the Edinburgh International Climbing Centre, Pentland Hills, Gyle Centre, Cinema, Golf, Hillend ski slope, Union Canal walks and so the list goes on.
There is plenty space for guests while staying at Addiston Mains. There is a gym which is fully equipped. There is a large garden and open aspect where guests are free to wander. There is also a separate private garden for the family. There is also a sitting area with table and chairs outside.
Interaction with Guests
I have found the interaction with our AIRBNB guests is unique. Some guests like to spend more time chatting than others. Some guests like to spend more time undisturbed. We find a flexible approach works best for both us and guests. There will be someone to meet guests on arrival and we live in a separate part of the house but still on site.
I love Addiston Mains for its semi rural position so close to the city. Our nearest neighbours are a few minutes walk away and yet we can be in the heart of the city in less than 15 mins.
Although we are very close to the airport we are on the opposite side from the flight path. We have never had a plane go overhead and hear no plane noise.
On a clear night the stars are very clear and there is a sense of peace and calm about the whole property.
Addiston Mains is best suited to transport by car. The city park and ride is 1 mile away with a good bus service direct to the city.
There is a bus that stops about 400 yards away. We are close enough to the airport for taxi or by prior arrangement for us to pick you up.
The train into the city takes about 6 mins and there are 2 stations about 5 mins drive away. Again we often drop guests off there.
The new tram service is also about 7-8 mins away and will be an additional option into the city.
This is part of a family home and guests are expected to behave in an appropriate manner around young people. Appropriate clothing at all times and reasonable levels of noise after 11pm and before 6am
I booked with Vicky to attend my graduation ceremony in Edinburgh, i sent her a message asking about the directions to her house , she offered a pick up at airport for 10£ , her daughter did the job but on our way asked to do food shopping on our way, it was 28th of october a rainy windy cold day in Edinburgh and my umbrella was in the suitcase, and i had to run under the rain and i really hate myself for being the " good girl" !! i caught flu and stayed in bed all week, I will remember Vicky every time i look at my graduation photos as i asked her for an adaptor for my flat iron and she gave me one that didnt fit and i couldnt use it !!!! my hair was a big mess. There were no accessible cooker or oven, she didnt allow me to use hers and instead offered to cook my food , she cooked to her taste and gave me the amount that she thought suited my hunger. communication was so difficult as she was so bossy . u will have to call her or send sms if u need something . I would never ever come again .
I think this review says a lot about you Faten and how you are able to selectively pick and remember the tough times. I also remember taking you to go food shopping for supplies, taking you to the station to ensure you were confident and comfortable for your trip to Glasgow, taking you to the station the next day and using my card to get ticket for you, buying you a adaptor for you flat irons, lending you mine in the interim, providing you with flu and cold remedies. The food shopping Isla stopped for was for you to have. The property is large and I'm not sure how else you would expect to communicate with me from your own private guest area. Over all I am proud of the service that I offered and feel that I did all that I could to provide for you and I am also proud of the 53 reviews before yours and hopefully those of the future guests.
We really enjoyed our stay here, what a beautiful place! Vicky is an amazing host, she made us feel very welcome and her attention to detail is phenomenal. Would definitely be going back.
A-ma-zing place 5 minutes from the airport and no more than 15 minutes drive from Edinburgh city centre. Clean, spacious, modern, well-equiped, all this in a wonderful countryside setting. Vicky is also an amazing host. She welcomed us on our arrival, provided tips for getting around, and even brought us fresh juice and pastries for our (very) early morning departure. The only downside is that we only stayed for one night! A definite must.
Vicky and John's home was perfect for our needs. Plenty of space, comfortable and a great location for easy access to the city by car or train. Communication with Vicky was quick and easy and her and John's hospitality was warm and friendly. Could not recommend more highly.
Wonderful setting, spacious bedroom, bathrooms, living room, decorated with much taste, no clutter and very cozy. We were made to feel more than welcome, even at such short notice and arriving late as it were. Vicky and her family, especially lovely daughter Isla, went out of their way to assist us with everything we needed to make our business trip a success. Our experience could not have been any better!
Vicky could not have been more helpful: all the facilities were excellent - comfortable, welcoming and quiet. We were sorry that we only had one night there and we shall look forward to returning for a longer stay.
Vicky was an absolutely fabulous host. She was so nice to accommodate my last minute booking and even offered to pick me up from the train station. Her home is so beautiful and offers a peaceful place to come back to after a busy day exploring the city. I had a wonderful experience staying at Vicky's and wish I could've stayed longer!

My motto in life is we are not here for a long time but a good time.
I've been doing AIRBNB for a while now and have met some really interesting and lovely people.
