House - Entire home/apt · Fain St, Wichita Falls, TX 76308, United States

The Space

Home to Sheppard Air Base, Midwestern State University, and the Hotter n Hell 100 bike race, as well as a slew of other attractions, this extremely comfortable home is directly adjacent to the country club/country club cottage area in Wichita Falls-the perfect area for a relaxing, shaded walk, run or bike ride. It's walking distance to Parker Square, which features Cinemark Theatre with stadium seating, Ganache cupcake lounge and wine bar, Jason's deli and so much more!

This bright open space has 2 spacious, well appointed bedrooms, with extremely comfortable king and queen sized beds. The recently updated bathroom down the hall has everything you need and more, including a small selection of toiletries, just in case.

The completely renovated kitchen just calls out for use with it's beautiful granite countertop and everything the experienced cook would need, including a bar opening up the space to the dining area, just waiting for your guests to sidle up to and chat. You'll also have milk and eggs to get you started in the morning.

In addition to all of this, there another room with a lounge chair for relaxing/reading, a small desk where you're welcome to setup your laptop and go to work if need be, and a piano to bang around on.

Add in the gorgeous living room prime for entertaining or just kicking back to watch a movie on the flat screen and you'll soon find you don't want to leave! I have cable television, complete with DVR and a blu-ray player. More than you can watch in a lifetime if you decide to kick back for a little downtime.

When you add all of this and the ease of access to hiking, biking, golfing and more, the only question is, why isn't your vacation here yet?

(Just a note, I do not have any pets of my own in the house-I did have a cat at one time but haven't in quite some time.)

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • From the outside, the home looks like the rest on the block, but once we went in, the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming.

There were plenty of towels, a gift basket with some toiletries and popcorn waiting for us in addition to food in the fridge.

It was a good overnight experience overall.

  • A very comfortable warm cozy house. Shannon was very kind to deal with. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • Although I did not get to meet Shannon face to face, she was a wonderful host and extremely easy to work with and get ahold of. We rented her entire place for a weekend while we celebrated my grandmother's 90th birthday. Shannon lives in a nice part of town that was conveniently located to everything we needed access to. Her house was clean and extremely comfortable. We even brought our dogs who loved to lay out in her spacious backyard. I would recommend a stay at Shannon's home to anyone! I hope to someday meet her face to face and will remember this listing for my next visit to Wichita Falls.

  • Fifth time staying at Shannon's home and we can't imagine a better place to stay. I do love the new addition of the " Welcome Basket". It has everything you could need to make yourself at home and brochures on local restaurants and things to do that can make your visit even better. We sometimes forget our toothbrushes and usually have to make a late night run to buy some, because of your thoughtfulness in including toothbrushes in that awesome basket you saved us a trip to buy some. Love that you are always coming up with little ways to make every visit even better. Can't wait to stay on trip number 6. Thanks so much for opening your home, it's so comforting knowing that we have a home away from home. : )

  • We stayed at Shannon´s house for the second time, and it was just as lovely as last time. The house is beautiful and she was so kind to put all sorts of conveniences in a box for us.
The kitchen really has everything you need for cooking a good meal.
The house is nice and cool in the summer and nice and warm during winter. We recommend it to everybody!

    Response from Shannon:

Thanks Molly-looking forward to next year already!

  • My party of 6, 3 adults and 3 children came to Wichita Falls and stayed at Shannon's place for 2 nights. This is not ordinary rental, barely furnished and cold; but instead it was warm and decorated with love, it was home away from home.
Shannon was there when we arrived and greeted us with a smile, showed us around the house and then exited with the reminder to contact her if we needed anything.
Wichita Falls is HOT in summer and the central AC was more than adequate. The king bed was firm and the queen soft. There was plenty of seating, and a fully fenced private backyard.
We had a great time there and will definitely be repeated customers of this delightful home in a nice university neighborhood, near everything!

  • Our fourth time staying at Shannon's wonderful home and it feels like our home. We are so comfortable there now that we just couldn't imagine staying somewhere else. And even though we keep missing meeting each other in person Shannon it truly feels like we know you and have met you and we consider you a true friend. You are super sweet and always accommodating and get back to us with anything we may want or need. We know Sanity is staying with her Grandma now but we came to know and love her as well, and she will truly be missed. We will back for time number five soon, we can't wait. Thanks again Shannon! You Rock!

  • We just stayed at Sannon's house and loved it! It is well decorated and has all the equipment you could want. It was clean and cosy. We stayed during some quite cold days, but the house and the beds are more than warm enough. We also met Shannon who was a lovely person and so helpful with everything. We highly recommend this place!

  • Our stay at Shannon's house was better than we expected. This is a great house and had everything we required to make our stay in Whichita Falls pleasurable.
The fact that it was walking distance to MSU was a bonus.
I am sure that we will stay at Shannon's house during our next visit to Whichita Falls.

I'm a very friendly, outgoing person-and I typically am a font of information when it comes to local eateries and entertainment. I LOVE to travel, and one of my favorite things about airbnb is that it can bring the travel to you, in a sense. I get to meet new people with so many different stories, and it's really incredible. I've traveled all over, and even lived in Italy for a while. France, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland-I've got some stories. For now, I'm trying to save my money and travel a little closer to home, though I've made it to quite a few corners of the domestic U S of A, don't worry. So I've got a few stories myself, but I'm most interested in yours. :) A few things I couldn't live without are houseslippers, a book, chapstick...that's probably it. I love staying in airbnb when I travel, and have even couchsurfed a time or two. For me, travel is all about the local people, and airbnb gets me in touch with them from the start. Local dives, local hangouts, that's what I'm looking for when I go somewhere new, and if I could go on a really long walk when I get there, all the better. I like to get a little lost and find my way back-you stumble across some of the best things when you get lost, sometimes. As a host, it really depends on you and what you're looking for, sometimes you just need a place to stay, and I get that. But if you'd like to swap stories, I'm all for that. I'm normally pretty active, so I may not be here as much if you're using the guest room (if you've got the whole house I won't be here at all-off to travel somewhere new, most likely), and I normally work during the day anyway. I like to try to locate something local going on around here and pass that along to you, just in case. I bought my house in January 2010, and it's been a journey! I did a lot of major renovation right off the bat, and it was a blast, let me tell you. I've done lots of little things since then and I love how airbnb helps me do that-I typically use the proceeds to make further improvements. What benefits me also benefits you airbnbers. "So, what do you do?" Well, I just started grad school at MSU here in counseling, but don't worry, I won't practice on you. In addition to that I work at the family business on the website and online marketing, as well as a slew of other things, whatever we come up with, really. I love being involved in the community and my main current passion lies with Downtown Wichita Falls Development, of which I'm Treasurer. Our goal is stimulation and preservation, and we put on several events during the year to help meet that goal and bring the community together, including St. Patrick's Day Downtown Street Festival (March), Cajun Fest (April), Zombie 5k (October) and the City Lights Parade (November). Look forward to talking to you soon!
