  • Adar was very friendly and always willing to help which made our experience in Instambul a great one. He even took us for some tea and food near the house. I highly recommend staying with Adar because of his hospitality!

  • We spent one week in Istanbul, 2 days in a standard bedroom, 5 in a nice apartment. We knew before arriving that we couldn't stay in the same place. The location was great and Adar was very welcoming ! Good impressions on the whole

Very very bad experience with Adar. Whatever are his reasons, false or true, I learned upon my arrival in Istanbul, after finally meeting with him, 40 minutes after my arrival to our meeting point (no answer over the phone and wrong address), that the apartment which I had paid for 19 days ahead was not available any more for my first 2 nights of 6! He settled me in a very ordinary hotel room, which I accepted because I was exhausted. Through all this bad experience, which details are too long to enumerate here, Adar made as if he did his best to " help me ", and not as if he was responsable for this unacceptable situation. AVOID.

  • Though it has taken some time after my travels to get to writing this review that is no reflection on the wonderful experience of being hosted by Adar.
My brother & I had 3 days in Istanbul from the 8th Dec 2013 and Adar was as attentive as all the reviews we read before booking. In our combined travel experience we agree the personal attention received was above and beyond almost any other.
Adar arranged for pick up at the airport which brought us directly to where he personally met us and settled us in to the apartment. He then gave a wonderful 2 hour walk around Sultanahmet area of Istanbul on which we based our next few days activities. It was night time and we ended up at at a lovely restaurant he recommended - terrific food and a great end to our arrival.
The apartment is wonderfully located to be able to walk to all of the major sites in the Sultanahment area. We both found it cozy and comfortable. A homey place to return to at the end of our busy days. The wifi allowed us easy connection to those we left behind.
We took advantage of the Turkish bath just down the block and the restaurant next to the park.
The couch in kitchen / seating area was the second sleeping space and found to be pretty comfortable. The weather was a bit cold with snow on the 3rd day but the space heaters worked well to keep us warm all night long.
Adar came to see us as we left putting us safely in the transport he arranged to send us back to the airport. And left us with a small gift as well.
The daily rate for the apartment fit into our budget quite comfortably and with the attention by Adar added to the value making this the best deal around.
We would love to return to Istanbul and would highly consider staying at Adar's property the first choice for accommodation.

  • Adar was very accommodating and made us feel welcome from the start. He gave us a tour of the area which was very helpful and gave us his personal number if we had any questions. His business partner was also very friendly and caring, offering us tea at every opportunity! We felt very welcome and at ease staying here. The hosts were polite and kind, and always checked up on us to see if we were enjoying Istanbul, or if we needed anything extra for the room.

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. It was located in a very good location, with only a 5 minute walk to the tourist precinct. We felt like our belongings were secure in the room. It was also nice and quiet during the night which helped us rest easily.

  • We loved the location of the apartment--near a lovely park, outdoor cafe, 16th century baths, grocery stores, bakeries, sweets shops, butchers and the photography museum. You can't ask for a better location. The neighborhood is vibrant, though somewhat transitional. Located practically behind the 5-star Ottoman Park Hotel and well-appointed renovated buildings, but there are many establishments that are well in need of renovation or tear-down. We enjoyed the complexity of this place, others might be put off by that. The apartment met our needs and Adar's hospitality was superb. APARTMENT: The apartment is still not fully renovated, so the unfinished bathroom still lacks a mirror for shaving and a shelf for cosmetics. The lack of shower doors and walls in the bathroom is still a reality. He needs to finish that work immediately. Though the shower works fine for bathing, plenty of hot water; however, draining the floor is a bit awkward and can prove hazardous if one is not cautious. Before you book, check if bathroom is finished if this is a concern--he has other apartments to offer you, so don't forget to inquire. The bed is large and comfortably firm with plenty of blankets and towels in the armoire. Also available for your storage is a medium sized chest of drawers. There are two easy chairs and end tables with magazines and guidebooks to peruse to make the bedroom a comfortable rest. The kitchen works fine--granite counter, drop-leaf table and two chairs. Additionally there is a sofa in the kitchen, presumably for an additional guest, otherwise it makes it a bit crowded, but I understand it's need. Adar provides all the essentials and more--tea kettle, microwave, toaster, hotplate and pots for cooking, dishes and flatware and coffeepot. The fridge was stocked with mineral water, a selection of soft drinks, yogurt and fresh fruit. The cupboards were stocked with olive oil, spices, coffee, tea and other staples such as pasta, rice, cereal, and dried soups. More than enough to get you started, and the local supermarket is just across the park. When our taxi arrived Adar met us and showed us the neighborhood. Although we were tired and really wanted to rest, that tour of the area was a wonderful introduction to the local shops and eateries. Adar graciously offered the use of a local cell phone during our stay and occasionally checked in via TXT to see how we were doing. We felt connected, and that's a wonderful thing. Overall, staying in this apartment gave us the feeling of what it's like to live everyday life in Sultanahment, and that's the experience we were seeking--it's away from the pestering rug salesmen, yet easy walking distance to the Kumpaki area restaurants (touristy but festive as they are located on streets closed off to motor vehicles) that lead to fisheries and seafood restaurants on the Bosphorus just across the Kennedy Expressway. Thank you. We would definitely book with you again. We hope to see you again, in Istanbul or Chicago.

  • Adar was truly a remarkable host. Communication was always thorough and efficient. The apartment is in a great location -- very safe and at the heart of Sultanahmet. It is exactly as shown in the photos and very clean. Great WiFi. We had a great time getting to know Adar and can't say enough about his generosity and hospitality. We felt very well taken care of, and all recommendations provided were useful and complete. On our arrival to Istanbul, Adar was kind enough to give us a tour of the area and over our week there, we met several times for meals/tea/just to chat. We now most certainly consider Adar a friend and I would not hesitate to recommend him as a host or any of his properties as he takes great care and pride in both aspects!

  • Good place just like the picture. Good situation not far away from The Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia (10 min walk). It's clean. There were no shower doors but I know Adar plan to install it. He is very helpfull and you can ask him what you want. He will do everything he can for your comfort.
