The Space

*****Peaceful haven with great access to Central London*****

Hi, we are renting out our beautiful, self-contained flat on the lower ground floor of our large, detached Victorian house. The flat is close to Wimbledon tennis and common. It is south of the river Thames and an easy tube ride to all London's attractions. The flat is a few steps down from street level. It has its own separate entrance and access to our lovely mature garden.

The flat can accommodate a total of 6 guests, and is ideal for a group of friends wanting to have a few days in London; anyone coming on business or pleasure who wants to have a relaxed and peaceful place to stay, or a family on holiday.

There is one large bedroom with a double bed. There is a smaller second bedroom with two single beds. The large sitting room has 2 sofas, one of which is a decent double sofa bed. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a bath with hand-held shower attachment. There is a second bathroom with walk in shower.

The kitchen has double doors which open onto the sitting room. It has a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, hob, new cooker & fridge freezer and there is a breakfast bar with high stools. There is a dining table in the sitting room that can seat 6 people. It is 4 steps up to the large garden with a lawn, flower beds, vegetable garden, rose arbor down one side leading to the BBQ and a summer house.

We are roughly equal distance between East Putney and Southfields tube stations, both a 10-15 minute walk away on the District Line. It is a 5 minute walk to the bus stop, which goes to Clapham Junction - a major railway hub for lots of destinations including Gatwick airport - or a 15 min walk to Wandsworth Town overground station. To central London it takes around 30 - 45 minutes door to door.

Our house is set in a very leafy part of South London but with easy access into central London. There are local parks with playground facilities a few minutes walk away. The Wimbledon All England lawn tennis Club which hosts the annual grand slam championship in June/July is only a 20 minute walk. We have a great local gastropub called the Earl Spencer, which is a 5 minutes walk away. Nearby are the fantastic green spaces of Richmond Park and Wimbledon Common. Putney, Wandsworth and Southfields are all good for restaurants and shopping.

  • First time booking an airbnb stay and Annie & Peter made it a great experience for us! Their flat was the perfect base for our week- long visit to London. Close to transport to central London but tucked away in a quiet area. You can take the tube (Southfields station) or take the bus to Clapham Junction and then take the train to Waterloo. There is also a Waitrose and a mall within walking distance.

The flat is very spacious even for our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 teens) and has all the conveniences - fully-equipped kitchen to cook meals, a washing machine which allowed us to pack light, plenty of closet space, 2 bathrooms and a lovely garden out back with a couple of neat surprises. There is even a Wii game console that my kids enjoyed having. Part of our trip consisted of day trips outside London for which we rented a car and there is space for parking this on the driveway.

Annie was so warm and gracious from booking stage and throughout our stay. She even gave us a lift to & fro the tube. Highly recommend this listing! The day after we left, my youngest was saying that she misses Annie's flat! Thank you Annie & Peter!

  • Annie and Peter's place is absolutely perfect and reality is at least as good as the description on the website. The spacious apartment was a great place to relax and rest after the busy days spent discovering the city with our three teenagers. We're already looking forward to come back for our next trip to London.

  • We had a lovely stay at Annie and Peter's place. It's comfortable and relaxing and our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We really liked the local pub, Earl Spencer, too- great food! The flat has good transport connections too with the tube and bus within easy walking distance. We will definitely stay again next time we're in London.

  • Annie and Peters garden flat was everything we needed and more. My Mum and I stayed for 2 nights and travelled to and from central London everyday on the tube. Arriving by tube the house was very easy to find and despite how frequently we found ourselves walking round in circles over that weekend, it was never when we were on our way home last thing at night! Communication from Annie was perfect, she was very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately we stayed at the flat just after the ensuite bathroom had flooded so the master bedroom was out of action but the rest of the flat was warm, spacious and clean. We really appreciated the extra little touches that made our weekend all the easier (like the London A-Z!). I would highly recommend this to anybody visiting London wanting a peaceful escape with great access to the city.

  • If you want a place that is quiet and yet pretty handy for many areas in and around London then Annie and Peter's flat is great. Once we found how handy it was to walk down to Buckhold Rd and catch the 39 bus it became very easy to go places like Notting Hill or just Clapham Junction. There are plenty of shops and cafes within 10 minutes walk. Thanks to Annie for picking us up at Wandsworth Station on the night we arrived and looking after our bags on our last day so we could explore more without the luggage.

  • We had a really great experience staying at Annie and Peter’s lovely flat. It was an excellent base to explore London as a family. We got the tube from Southfields straight to South Kensington for the museums and the bus (a minute round the corner) to Clapham Junction and trains to everywhere!
Closer to home King George's Park had a great playgrounds for young and older children as well as a duck pond, tennis courts and smooth paths for scooting. Next to the park is Southside shopping centre with shops, restaurants and a cinema and on the other side of Garratt Lane is a massive Sainsbury’s, all very easily within walking distance.
The flat was just as the photos show, very comfortable with loads of room for our toddler to play in, despite the main bedroom being out of action. The garden was a wonderful extra bonus which he and we loved.
The kitchen was very well equipped, good quality pots and pans and lovely sharp knives made cooking a pleasure. We were very pleased to find fresh bread, butter and milk waiting for us on our arrival as well as cupboard basics (salt, pepper, oil, herbs, tea, coffee and sugar etc).
Annie and Peter were charming hosts with just the right level of attention and we very much look forward to returning for the full 2 bedroom flat experience!

  • Can highly recommend this lovely flat in Wimbledon. Its light, fresh and roomy with beautiful garden outlook from the living room. With 2 bedrooms (the main extremely large), 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen & welcoming living room - its was a restful home for us after 3 weeks of continuous travel. Transport to the city, west end, & Clapham Junction was great with frequent bus, tube and train options depending where you wished to go.
Our hosts Annie & Peter were lovely - very welcoming, friendly, helpful & interesting - which added to the enjoyment of our stay.

I am a midwife and Peter is an actor. We have lived in the same wonderful house in London for 26 years. We love travelling and have done lots over the years with our children, including a 6 month trip around the world. We have 4 children, aged between 22 and 28, they are back and forth, sometimes living at home for awhile or turning up for Sunday lunch! We are both very active and enjoy hiking / walking in different places in the world. We both love food and will eat anything...we are very easygoing about where we stay and don't need lots of mod cons, we prefer beautiful scenery and meeting interesting people. We have been Airbnb hosts since October 2012 and we love it, we've met so many interesting people from many different countries and look forward to meeting many more!
