Olalla Forest Retreat is a stunning Storybook Cottage home that started in the 1970’s on 5 acres of forest & creek bed, tucked along the Kitsap Peninsula. We are honored to open the home for hosting 2 divided units and cherish the opportunity to share our home & land with guests. Offering a 2,000sqft, 3 bedroom/2.5 bath portion of the main house that sleeps 8. We host a second attached suite at the opposite end of the house w/a private entrance. We welcome ALL visitors with respect & gratitude.
The space
The east wing of the home offers a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath space situated on 5 acres of stunning forest, with a pond and creek for folks to get away from the grind of the city and come to reconnect, chill out and explore. This portion of the home is approximately 2,000sqft with 5 beds and a sofa to accommodate 8-10 guests for sleeping, a full kitchen, laundry room, massive outdoor patio with a grilling space and cold water rinse sink, bar with seating and a fabulous hot tub. There’s even a hollowed out “treehouse” surrounded by a moat and a tea table seating area. We are even pleased to offer 220 EV charging at the foot of the driveway.
Upon entering the home, you are greeted by a massive Douglas Fir tree that climbs up from the kitchen to the above loft bedroom. There is a quaint sitting area for two, just before the kitchen, to sit and enjoy your time in. The kitchen features a GE black stainless, gas oven and stove with convection and air fryer settings to create delicious meals, a microwave, coffee maker, tea pot, blender, hand mixer and toaster. All cooking utensils are provided alongside cast iron skillets, baking dishes and cookie sheets. Tableware, cutlery, wine glasses, drinking glasses and mugs are all provided for service of 12. There is a hot tea station, featuring a variety of teas to help yourself to, and we happily provide ground coffee and sugar along with basic salt, pepper and cooking oil.
Just off of the kitchen, you will find a half bath with a large capacity washer and dryer set for your convenience.
Follow the one of a kind staircase up to the whimsical loft bedroom where you’ll achieve the sleep of your dreams on the semi firm, queen sized bed. Attached you will find a swan back, claw foot soaking tub to melt away stress, beautifully curved ceilings and walls featuring a rock installation with plants and candles.
Back down the stairs and through the rock archway takes you to the open living and dining room. Enjoy seating for 8 at the long dining table overlooking the gorgeous evergreens of the PNW alongside the remote controlled, led candle filled, open fireplace. The Soderhamn sectional sofa is deep and comfy; the perfect spot to enjoy board games with the family or a movie on the 48” flat screen tv.
Immediately into the hallway you will find a bedroom to your right. This room features a hand carved, built in bunk bed with an attached full bath and shower. Each bunk has built in cave shelves, two outlets, a bedside lamp and semi firm mattresses. This space features a stunning, remote controlled, led candle filled fireplace with massive boulders and stalactites throughout the room!
The third bedroom is just across the hall with a super comfy, full bed beneath an oversized window that looks out into the evergreens and a friheten sectional sofa that effortlessly converts to a sleeper sofa for two adults.
All beds are dressed in 100% cotton bedding, multiple, plush pillows, oversized duvets and throw blankets. The bathrooms are filled with fluffy body and hand towels and wash cloths, as well as organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
Back to the foyer and out the back door escapes into the 2,500 sqft patio space. First, across from the back door, is the fully jetted, 6 person hot tub with curtains and canopy. To your left is the outdoor cooking area where you will find a fully covered, built in grill and cold water rinse sink, eat at bar with seating for 4, and an additional bar height table with an umbrella and seating for 4. Enjoy preparing and eating your meals under the stars of the PNW forest, surrounded by nature and a storybook home.
A walk down the driveway opens up to a wishing well, stone bridges, ponds, an old growth “tree house” and tea table for 4; surrounded by a moat and small waterfall with its very own frog chorus. 5 acres of forest are filled with old growth cedar, rhododendron, maple, ash, cherry and fir trees. The little orchard has honey crisp apples and golden plums, and blackberry and salmon berry are abundant. The most stunning ferns are draped everywhere across the property and thrive in the misty seasons of Washington.
We hope all of our guests enjoy the magic of Olalla Forest Retreat as much as we do and utilize their time here to relax, enjoy the sounds of nature and make amazing connections.

All spaces on the property are available for guests to explore, for the exception of a few spaces.
1- The hallway behind the two downstairs bedrooms is blocked off and used for storage, as is the attached garage for storage and a laundry area for our amazing cleaning team.
2- Enchanted Forest Suite is a private suite at the end of the home, as it is an additional rental space, and their end of back patio area.
We ask that all guests respect each other’s space and privacy, as well as encourage guests to interact and enjoy the magic of the property, if they so desire. Please take photos and have a wonderful time!
Other things to note
The property holds a little bit of everything, which is what makes it so magical. With very little light pollution, the skies are filled with stars at night for gazing as well as a stunning barred owl and two little black bats that flutter every night at sunset just above the dining hall. The west side of the property is a lush, fern filled maze of cedar forest that is deep enough to feel at peace in, but bespoke enough for the surrounding land that you’re still simply in our yard. The creek bed has a clear, flowing little stream of water for you to sit next to and simply breathe. Our ponds are filled with chirping frogs and lovely aquatic plants and are surrounded by delicious black and salmon berries, when in season to nibble on. The home is definitely unique and unique comes with quirks and character. A fantastically storybook style roof, bridges and stone work and ponds, bumps and crazy angles on the walls, stalactites in bedrooms, cave style bunk beds and original leaf glass windows make this an iconic home to enjoy. We adore this magical space, just across the Sound from downtown Seattle and 20 minutes from Tacoma.

Neighborhood highlights
The property is just off of the interstate down several acres of private farm road where you’ll see our neighboring horses, cows and a couple of peafowl, if you’re lucky. Olalla is nestled between Port Orchard and Gig Harbor; both of which offer Fred Meyer grocery stores, Target and Walmart, as well as fantastic downtown Gig Harbor for waterfront eats and drinks and strolling along quaint shops and sea craft rentals. Port Orchard is your gateway to the Puget Sound and onward to Bremerton, Bainbridge and Seattle Ferries. Olympic National Park is everything you could ever ask for in a breathtaking tour of a National PNW Park. Offering the Olympic Mountain Range, the Pacific Ocean, valleys, cliffs and a rainforest.
