I'm the divorced mom of two girls who live half of each week with their dad down the street from me in Prospect Heights.
Meaning: half of each week my beautiful, art-and book filled centrally-located brownstone is open and available for you to be welcomed as my guest. Should you be traveling singly and looking for accommodations on any Wednesday or Thursday evening (along with mostly alternating weekends--check my calendar for availability), you'll have your own peaceful, birch-wallpapered bedroom plus bathroom on the otherwise unoccupied top floor of my home.
House is equipped with open kitchen, library/den, living room & dining rooms, washer, dryer and dishwasher, meditation room, working fire place, lovely garden, deck and wireless internet. (Note: the family dog travels with my children and is not likely be around if you book with me, but the cat--who spends most of her time outside in the back yard--will be.)
I'm two blocks from Prospect Park, the Grand Army Plaza farmers market, the Brooklyn Public Libary, the Brooklyn Museum and the Botanic Garden, and two different subway lines (2/3 and D/Q). The Barclay Center is a ten-minute walk away--close enough to be of interest, but far enough to not be in your face.
Fabulous Vanderbilt Avenue, with its bustling cafes and restaurants is right around the corner, and contains the Michelin-rated Aliseo Osteria del Borgio and, for the best ice creams you'll have ever tasted, Ample Hills Creamery. The Brooklyn Flea--home to hundreds of vendors hawking all manner of unique finds and delicious foods on Saturdays--is a ten-minute walk down Vanderbilt in Fort Greene.
Unless otherwise noted, this offer is generally available to single travelers only.
I look forward to hearing from you!
My stay at Jenny's Townhouse was a fantastic experience. From word go assisting by phone with my taxi driver with no GPS, to providing great advice as to where to enjoy dinner. The surrounding area had a good vibe and a short walk to shops, cafe's and bar's.
The upstairs sunroom was a great place to relax. Jenny is a great host and would definitely stay again.
You'll love your stay at Jenny's lovely, well-decorated and comforatable brownstone. I easily took the subway near her home with all my luggage. It was an easy walk with lots of shopping, dining and great coffee nearby. Jenny is a sweetheart and always available by quick text if I needed anything. I felt safe in her home and walking at night to and from the subway. I'll be back! Thank you Jenny!
This was my very first experience with Airbnb and certainly won't be the last, thanks to my wonderful stay at Jenny Douglas' home. Jenny was an ideal host who was very warm, responsive, and fun to interact with. I feel totally safe and welcoming in her beautiful home! Everything was perfect for my stay - comfortable bed and quiet neighborhood, nice home deco, great garden, convenient location...I definetly will stay at Jenny's place again in my future trips to NYC. Thanks, Jenny!
Jenny has a beautiful townhouse in a great location. The house itself is decorated with care and creativity. The bed, bedding, bedroom and bathroom all are appointed with comfort and cleanliness. A real pleasure.
Jenny's is a great spot in a great location for a single traveller. Homey, quiet, restful, and super convenient. It feels very private up on the top floor, with a bathroom right next door.
I was honored to stay with Jenny again. She and her home are gifts to the world. She is welcoming, communicative, and her home is a haven! I highly recommend this air bnb experience!!
I had a lovely stay at Jenny's townhouse in Prospect Heights. To begin with, she modified her plans so she'd be available when I arrived. Indeed, when I walked down the street, I found Jenny sitting outside on the stone steps leading to her front door, so she could provide a warm welcome. Her triple-decker is comfortable, and within a few minutes I felt like I was staying at a friend's home, not an airbnb rental.
I particularly liked the sweet-smelling Yogi soap Jenny placed on the sink in the bathroom and the purple flowers next to my bed. The restaurant she recommended for breakfast worked out well, too. I'm hoping to return regularly in the coming months.
This is the second chance I've had to stay at Jenny's gorgeous home! Her home is a gem! And, is such a sigh of relief after spending the day out and about in New York City. Jenny is kind, compassionate, and has a great sense of humor plus spirit. The home is very close to the Subway which is 15/20 minutes away from Manhattan. Her home is welcoming, clean, and has a great energy to it! I was so glad I had a chance to stay here again and it's definitely at the top of my list for next time!
Jenny was a lovely host. She was so gracious and welcoming, I felt as though I was coming to visit an old friend I'd known for years. The room on the third floor of her beautiful house was a welcome reprieve to study in during finals, and I haven't slept that well in a long time. I'd recommend her place to anyone visiting NYC, or just looking for a little getaway. I would definitely stay again.
Jenny's home is definitely an oasis and is a gem! I am so grateful to have had a chance to stay in her home. Her home is a couple of blocks from the train which is only a 10-15 minute ride into the city. There are a ton of shops, places to eat and coffee shops in the neighborhood. Though I was very busy, Jenny was communicative from the get go, and even invited me to an evening meditation session with people she knew from the area and also friends of hers. We had a lovely sharing session and then ate a beautiful meal! It was a magical evening and I look forward to returning!
