Our apartment is located on the third floor of a 19th century building near where once stood the medieval walls. Situated in Vitória, one of the most beautiful and traditional neighbourhoods of Porto, classified by UNESCO as "World Heritage Site" is an ideal base to explore all the places of the town.
It can accommodate two guests in a comfortable double bed and two extra guests in a sofa bed. It is perfect for couples (straight/gay/lesbian friendly) who want to enjoy romantic days in Porto, solo travellers who want to experience the town as a local, businessmen/women who are tired of staying in hotels, families with one or two kids and close friends who are looking for a cosy and private place to stay.
Decorated in a vintage style, it has everything you need to feel at home.
The apartment is accessed by a stairway (there is no elevator in the building) a welcoming hall that goes into a quiet and cosy sitting room with a comfortable sofa-bed (120x200cm), a small library and a stereo system. From the windows, guests can enjoy beautiful views over the narrow street and the old buildings of the neighbourhoods of Vitória, Sé and São Nicolau.

Within walking distance of some of the most valuable and oldest monuments and unique places of Porto, like Ribeira, Sé, Miragaia, Cedofeita, Santa Catarina/Bolhão or even cross the river to visit the port wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. The immediate area has delightful streets, squares, gardens and buildings. Just around the corner there are shops, grocery stores, cafes and restaurants. The nearest supermarket is located less then 3 minutes of distance. Also nearby is the Galerias de Paris area where you can find the trendiest bars and clubs.
Less than five minutes separate the flat from the São Bento metro and train station, directly connected to the airport and nearby attractions, like the Minho region and the Douro Valley.
These are the ingredients to spend an incredible holidays and return to your country with Porto in your heart!
The flat fit the exact description, has a lovely decoration and is very well situated. However, I will not recommend to rent it during the winter (we were there in February), as it was cold and humid. It does not have an appropriate heating system.
An other negative point were the beds: the sofa in the leaving room should not be called a bed, very uncomfortable for one, just impossible to sleep in two. The matress in the bedroom was OK, but the bed itself very noisy each time one moved.
It is a shame, because beside those two points, the place would have been perfect....
The apartment was awesome. César was a great host and provided lots of ideas of cool things to see and do (despite the less than ideal January weather.) Make sure to check out the taberna they run downstairs, and definitely try the wine they make themselves!
Cesar’s apartment is a perfect option for anyone going to Porto. A beautiful space - big and stylish - in an amazing location which also has everything we may need to feel at home (everything! – it was just a bit chilly but it was January after all…). Cesar was super nice and available. I fully recommend Cesar and the apartment!
Cesar has been a great host: he was very flexible for the check-in and check-out time, welcome us in the flat, provided an extra heater when we asked for it, and has been helpful in general.
He also has a wine bar beside the building, his wine is very good and "tapas" are served as well, until midnight.
The location of the flat is perfect: a small street in the centre, with shops all around the place. The view from the window is great too! The flat is nicely decorated, spacious and very functional (hair dryer, fridge, microwave, italian coffee maker, etc.). There was also toiletry, towels, and food available to us :)
I must say the heaters are not very powerful, but let's say we had luck with the weather... and our friend who slept in the living room would not recommend the sofa-bed to anyone :( hence the only 4 stars.
Cesars' apartment is a perfect option for a couple looking to stay in Porto. Great location, great style, great home comfort.
The flat is spacious, clean and beautifully renovated. The kitchen contained everything we needed. And very important: we slept very well. All the important spots are easy done by foot. It was also easy to park the car in the street. We would definitely recommend staying here.
I absolutely fell in love with the apt as soon as I stepped in the door. The apt is clean, the layout is great and I loved the decor. I felt really comfortable there. It's located on a really cute street and the view is amazing, I was in awe every time I looked out the window. The location was really perfect and central. I was in walking distance to everything I wanted to do so it was perfect. César was a great host, he's very kind and helpful. He was nice enough to arrange a taxi pickup for me when I needed it and told me about a faro event up the street in a small restaurant, something only locals know about. I have no doubt that if I come back to porto I'll make sure to stay here again.
Great and helpful host, super location, stylish and beautiful appartment - I'd return here if I'm in Porto again!
Great apartment in a fantastic area of Porto. Loved the views from the living room windows out over the old town. We were blown away by the architecture and of course the ceramic tiles! Cesar was very helpful and looking forward to his bar on the ground floor by the way! But until then there are plenty of bars and restaurants within 2 mins of front door.
Apartment has been newly converted by the looks and the only downside was no electric kettle, but I think this is an english thing ;)
We found it a tad chilly as well, though we did travel at what was the coldest time of year and it seems most Porto houses are built for hot and wet not cold, and this was more than made up for when the sun came streaming in through the living room windows.
So our top tips for Porto;
- have a custard tart
- drink beer in the bakery (if only Greggs did beer :)
- go up, or down, the dingiest smallest alleyways and streets
- keep looking up
- try and count how many different tiles you spot
- go to the local social centre 50m up from Cesar's apartment
- visit the main station building just 100m from Cesar's apartment
- walk across the main iron bridge at high level 500m from apartment
- go and find some artists or artist run spaces (Sputnik is one to start with or the art space on top of the art deco multi story car park, which does great pizza as well)
- go to the old market hall and buy something
- have another beer, coffee or pastry :)
We will be back very soon!
The apartment and the service of César is just amazing, I can fully recommend to stay there. Location and rooms are perfect, stylish and clean!
