A wonderful tranquil stop. Darrylle and Bill were very hospitable and so embracing and ready to answer questions. How could we forget the beautiful, spotless space with homemade cookies and wonderful breakfast and the perfect hosts. I can't say enough, other than it would have been perfect to have a couple more days. Thank you!
We stayed at Casa Abierta the night before our trip back home. I wished we could have stayed longer! Darrylle, our host, was very welcoming and gave us great recommendations about San José. The room was very clean and well-maintained. There was also hot water (this was a nice treat after staying at a few places during our trip that had only cold water). I felt very secure in this area, as the location is in a gated neighborhood with proper security out front. I'd definitely come back on my next trip to San José!
We stayed our first night in Costa Rica at Casa abierta and it was the perfect start for our holidays. The house, the patio and our room were beautiful and comfortable. Wonderful host, great breakfast (I loved the gallo pinto&banana bread) and comfortable beds. Darrylle and Bill gave us lots of tips for our trip and arranged another pick-up place for the Interbus.
My husband and I spent the last 3 nights of our two weeks vacation at Casa Abierta and it was one of the best choices we made during the trip. We loved the place!! The house was beautiful and the room was clean and cozy. We felt so comfortable that we came home early every day and spent our evenings chatting with Darrylle and Bill. We had very interesting conversations and learned a lot. Also, Darrylles cakes and tea was soooo good!! We are so happy to have become friends with Darrylle and Bill.
Casa Abierta is a fine place to stay when visiting San Jose. Mary was gracious and very helpful, the accommodations were clean and comfortable. The internet connection was strong, breakfast was tasty and locally sourced, we would definitely stay at the Casa again.
Have only stayed here very short, but was a really nice an clean house. Very good beds.
Had a lovely time at Casa Abierta - a beautiful home and a wonderful host! Darrylle was so welcoming, provding not just a home and breakfast but great converastion (and cookies as well!). Nice neighborhood, within walking distance to restaurants.
The only way to stay in San Jose. Darrylle is a wonderful to stay with and makes staying in as much of a pleasure as going out. His clean and comfortable condominium is within walking distance of several restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and other small shops. A quiet and safe, easy to navigate neighborhood that is only 20 minutes walk from central downtown San Jose.
I'm thankful to have had my first AirBnB experience staying with Darrylle at Case Abierta. The first of many.
Darrylle is our new old friend, he is great and so is his place. We left Manuel Antonio at 5:30am and drove to see the Poas Volcano and the Waterfall gardens, before heading to Casa Abierta. Me and husband tried using the GPS since we weren't coming from the airport, big mistake and we took a tour through downtown San Jose it was crazy busy. We arrived frazzled, Darrylle gave me a big hug and made us feel welcome, it was all good. Casa Abierta is warm, inviting and beautiful. We didn't even think about unloading the car, we all sat down and had tea and cookies and had a wonderful conversation until we recovered. He told us about local eating places and how to get there, we walked a couple of blocks to mall were there were several restaurants. We ate at the Mexican food place the food was ok, the 2-for -1 margaritas were even better.
That evening Darrylle booked a message therapist to come to the house. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast of the freshest fruit, baked goods, granola, creamy yoghourt, and coffee. There was another couple there from Germany , and we had a good time talking with everybody. Then on to a wonderful massage right there in the tropical paradise on the patio. Later, we had a light lunch and an engaging talk. The one thing I really like about Darrylle is that he is a active listener and he love sharing his live with you. We could have talked even more, but we wanted to see a little more of San Jose. He armed us with maps and suggestions and we saw the National Park, the Contemporary Museum and the Jade Museum, finishing with dinner at a Italian place.
Casa Abierta is truly a little oasis, it is beautiful and comfortable, centrally located and Maria does a great job of cooking and keeping everything clean and in order, she even took pictures of us with Darrylle. We would definitely stay again.
Incrediblely comfortable surrounds. Bright, cheery, open, full of colorful flowers. Tastefully decorated throughout. Very comfortable bed. Spacious bedroom. Freedom to enjoy the entire house, including the lovely patio with its many tropical plants.
Best parts were the host and his dedicated helper, Maria. Truly gracious people. Now, dear friends.
My trip was a full 30 days. I took three weekend excursions out of San Jose. Otherwise, I resided the entire time at Casa Abierta, taking Spanish lessons most days (first in a nearby school and then from private instructors whom Darryle recommended and who came to the house) and enjoying long daily hikes.
Very highly recommended in every respect.
