The Trinity Room is a small, single room that is suitable for one person only. A great alternative to staying in a hostel or on campus while travelling or visiting the university.

The Space

This listing is for one of three rooms available in a charming 100 year old home in the West end of downtown St. John's. It overlooks beautiful Victoria Park, which has a playground, walking track, and softball field and is widely known for it's annual Lantern Festival.

THE HOUSE is fully furnished and equipped with a dishwasher, a laundry room, and a wood burning fireplace. There is a patio along the front of the house and in the back there is a larger patio and a garden with an outdoor fire place. Local phone calls and fibre-op TV and internet are provided as well as use of kitchen and laundry facilities (including detergent, stain remover, fabric softener, iron, ironing board, etc.).Guests are responsible for their own food but we provide some basic non-perishable items like peanut butter, jam, margarine, coffee, and tea. Guests are welcome to use the refrigerator and to cook simple meals but since others will be using the kitchen as well it's probably not the best time to try that complicated three hour seafood recipe you found online!

EACH GUEST ROOM is comfortably furnished and has a television with a fibre-op receiver and PVR. Before you arrive your room will be thoroughly cleaned and your bed will be made with fresh, clean sheets. There are both firm and soft pillows in each room as well as extra blankets and a generous supply of clean towels. This room is a small, single room that is suitable for one person only. A great alternative to staying in a hostel or on campus while travelling or visiting the university.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the kitchen, living/dining room, laundry room, bathroom, and their bedroom. All spaces except the bedrooms are shared and so it's important to consider if this will work for you before booking your stay. Some guests prefer to spend most of their time in their room, others like to hang out in the common areas, and we are happy with whatever is comfortable for you. We want all of our guests to feel welcome in the shared areas of the home and we encourage people to get to know each other, play a boardgame, enjoy the fireplace, etc. To ensure that these spaces are available for everyone's enjoyment we ask that guests do not use these areas as an extra bedroom or as a fitness centre, yoga studio, or personal office. If you require any of these, just ask and we'll point you towards some great local options meet your needs!

Interaction with Guests

Our interaction with guests varies greatly and is primarily based on our work schedules. I love to meet and interact with new people but I typically work 60 hours a week outside the home and another 10 to 20 hours a week managing our airbnb and responding to inquiries. We tend to be around the house a fair bit on weekends as this is when we make time do laundry, baking, gardening, repairs, etc.

The Neighborhood

Our home is a short one minute walk from the nearest corner store, beer store, Tim Horton's and bus stop. We are just a short (approximately 10 minute) walk from George Street and the unique shops and restaurants of downtown.

  • Samantha and Glen were excellent hosts! The room was comfy and cozy and had everything I needed. Location was great, across from a park and only a 10 minute walk or so to downtown. I would stay come back again for sure!

  • Sam and Glen are great hosts that are extremely welcoming and friendly. They have a beautiful home and it was an easy walk to the downtown core of St. John's. I'd recommend this house to anyone visiting St. John's.

  • Loved the location, not too far from downtown, but right next to a park. Watch the locals play baseball from the front balcony! Excellent, chilled out hosting by Sam and Glenn - a real gem.

  • Sam was an amazing host! I can't wait to go back to St.John's and stay with her again.
The description 'warn & welcoming' really sums it up perfectly. I felt right at home when staying with her and Glenn. The house is well organized, which I totally appreciate as a guest. Most things are labelled so you know where to find things in the kitchen. She has a real pride in her home and it's so cozy.
I stayed in the smallest of her three guest rooms, and it was without a doubt my favorite. She did tell me it was quite a small room, but I had all the space I could want. There was lots of storage with a dresser in the room as well as built in storage shelves under the bed.
The location of the house was convenient for walking to downtown, and there is a Tim Horton's just down the street (about 2 minutes walking) so you can grab a tea on your way into town for a nice stroll.

  • Samantha went above and beyond to make me feel "at home". I really enjoyed our conversations. The location was exactly as described - perfect for numerous trips I made to local sights and friends' homes. The room was just fine for me!
Without a doubt, "warm and welcoming"!

I am a very busy young professional with a full time job as a child and youth care counsellor as well as part time and contractual work as a training facilitator, ABA Therapist, and babysitter. I love to travel and meet new people but my intense work life doesn't leave as much time for fun as I'd like at the moment. When I get a rare weekend off I like to pack up and head to the cabin for a couple of days or head downtown to hear some live music - my boyfriend Glenn is a musician and with our crazy schedules sometimes it's the only way for us to see each other on a Friday or Saturday night!
